Hey guys, I came back after a few months and I'm excited to play Royals again, Now I've noticed they removed the player counter on the website. So my question is; is the active playerbase still the same? I remember seeing 1000 people online at some point which was really great since I love the social aspect of this game. If anyone has a nice social, talk active I'd love to hear that too! Thanks!
my guess is they removed since they do not want us to get de-motivated by the obvious decrease of players base. gtop rating also decreased. getting the feeling the staff is getting more and more out of touch with the community and stretching this update to infinity
There is not currently a way for the website to access the JVM to grab the online player count, although this is something we will fix in the future, probably alongside a newly designed and modernised website too. The actual online count at the moment varies from between 100 and 300, which is due to the server still currently lacking some features since the new source launch. Once we get the server in a better state we will proceed to do some marketing to bring the server back to a higher playerbase.

I'm in the same position. Had to quit playing a few months back for school and decided to come back to see how things were going. I checked my guild and friends list and not a single person was online. It was depressing but kinda expected. No one was at LPQ so I made my way to Henesys were most people usually are and only found 2 afk people. Didn't see a single person on the way either. The server is dead as fuck.
The majority of players are waiting for Cash Shop and Gach to be fixed before they return. So until then the server is going to have few people on it. And it feels more dead now since we have more channels than we did before so the small player base has been spread across 20 channels as apposed to 14 before.
Don't forget old players with substantial investment in the game will return once the game is restored back to 100%.
