Since Matt told me to open a thread for my suggestion, I'd like to talk about the benefits of increasing the Quest EXP to 6x or in Matt's server we go special and say 6,4x EXP Pr0: - Helps alot in the early lvls from 1-30 - You'll level up faster and way relaxed than waiting for PQs - You'll finally do the quests that were intended to do since they get more rewarding for you - Make profit from the made quests: Like Scrolls (GFA60%, Shoes Jump, Weapon Scrolls...etc) Gear (anyone remember the Bone hat!? ) - You'll explore the world for all the quests and not go from Grindingspot to Grindingspot. -Since we got 20 ch... i would have said it would emty some grindingareas but... ill just write it here as a pro for now. Cons: Actually... i don't know any. Also i'd like to suggest custom medals or rewards Like: 100 Quests= low Medal 200 Quests= Mid Medal 500 Quests= High Medal xxx Quests= Random Equips? For my part i don't think that this change would hurt the game in it's playstyle, it's economy or anything else. What do you guys think?
I like doing quests but a lot of people prefer to be lay back, do a pq that requires any work in order to level up. Maple Story has been around for years. We are craving the nostalgia but we might not always have the same time we used to have to play. I am not against more EXP or rewards for questing but I personally think it wouldn't make me do PQ's or grind less. I like watching shows or do other stuff as I grind. Questing would require more attention to details, a lot of traveling too. :x
This may not benefit everyone. But it might change the point of view for people. not for all but for some.
I'm into this idea. It would help to diversify play styles and create a more well rounded community. I've been questing lately on my ironman sin and I find it really enjoyable, but if I actually gave a shit about being competitive I would have stopped a long time ago. Some of the quests are ridiculously poorly weighted, where you spend 5+ hours grinding for rare items and get 2k exp in return. Maybe just some customization of quests in general would be a fun plan, but I don't know how custom the devs wand Royals to be.
I don't think the issue is that all quests give too little EXP, it's that the gap between the good quests and the bad quests is too wide. Spoiler: Rant Some quests are most definitely worth doing for the EXP/Items/Fame they give compared to the time you have to put in. I think most players are familiar with the Strange Dish quests, the Muirhat and the Area Boss quests that all reward you handsomely for the little time you have to invest in them. There are also many quests that will have you kill a whole bunch of mobs, in return for slightly less quest exp, but you have to keep in mind that some of these quests will indirectly have you gain exp by slaying the required mobs. I think this should be taken into consideration when evaluating the worth of many quests. Then there are quests that are just not rewarding in terms of exp and/or other items. Many of the older questlines fall into this category, and these quests are never likely to draw the attention of the average player. This is not to say that these quests cannot be fun to do, though! I've found that if you set out to try to complete all the quests, the journey to the end of the quest is often the one that feels most rewarding. Many quests will have you explore parts of the Maple World that you would otherwise seldom visit, which in itself is valuable, if you're like me. I think there's a huge amount of clever content and lore in the game, that's never really seen or experienced by the vast majority of players, simply because the EXP reward is not there. Maybe the issue lies with the fact that the main focus for some (most) players seems to be acquiring as many levels and as good gear in the shortest amount of time possible, and that this renders a vast number of quests uninteresting, simply because they do not help these players achieve what they perceive to be their goals. In the end, we all play the game for different reasons. Some enjoy the journey towards power (endgame) while others like to experience the lore of a game, and for the few that do, there are barely any quests that are not worth doing. So by raising the overall quest-exp rate, you're not really getting rid of what I think is the major flaw in Wizet/Nexon's balancing of the quests, which is the gap between the good and bad quests (in terms of exp). The quests that are currently good are simply going to become very good/borderline op, and those that are not currently very rewarding are going to become better, but still significantly worse than the best quests.
Replacing some of the quest rewards would be nice too. Collecting 1,000 toy drums just to get some dumb +2 str gloves wasn't amusing. But it doesn't sound nostalgic at all and I have no idea on what items to give aside more 30% scrolls and maybe the work gloves with clean stats.
I'd like to see the quest exp increased, but as a few others said the awards could use some rebalancing too imo. Would be quite hard to narrow down which quests should give what reward... but it's food for thought.
Yes please. Even if quest exp went to 6x it would still be far slower than grinding. I also don't think it makes sense that players are indirectly encouraged to ignore all the unrequired quests to instead grind and farm in the same 25 maps when maplestory is supposed to be about adventuring. Let's stop letting the other 1000+ maps and monsters go to waste to 99% of the players.
How about some cool rewards based on how many quests you have completed? For example 35 gach tix for 100 quests, some exclusive nx equip for 200, a chair for 500, and so on. This way things are a lot simpler since there would be no need to change any of the quests one by one. Also this way players could obtain a few nice and satisfying items by hitting the completion goals instead of 100's of somewhat improved but still mediocre quest rewards
