In old source buying potions was an easy task, you could buy up to 1000 potions in one go. Yet for some reason in new source you want us to buy 100 potions at one time? Why? keeping it nostalgic? This is a private server, in my opinion this game function can be improved upon. I rather not waste time and effort each time I need to buy potions (which is a lot for arch mages). I don't really understand the reasoning...
I think this was a client limitation, like the 255 AP. But if it's possible to revert it in the future I would love for it to be reverted. It is such a painful task to buy 4000 potions at once when you have to do it 100 at a time.
I might be a little bit slow or ignorant here, but why should this be any different from mandatory boatrides? It has kind of looked like we're going all GMS even though that means taking away some luxary. I get that buying potions takes time, but so does taking the boats between the continents and walking to FM.
Some people are nostalgic about boat rides, but no one is nostalgic about having to buy potions 100 at the time.
We are forgetting one important thing. This is a private server. We have the chance to improve the v83 version of maplestory. I do get that keeping it 100% nostalgic might seem like a good idea, but in my opinion we should improve certain aspects of the game. We can improve the playing experience while keeping it nostalgic. This is one thing that doesn't really break the nostalgic experience if we were to change, so I do not see a reason to not improve it.
Mandatory boat rides are just impractical on royals with our server population. So they needed to be removed if you have any common sense. Trying to relate that to having an amazingly slow and tedious time buying pots just cause "nostalgia" is stupid. They are such different things that comparing them doesn't even make sense. If its a client issue, whatever. But if this is able to be changed this should be a no brainer.
I don't think it was done for "nostalgia", but rather more for a functional reason based on Kevin's statement that was provided here https://royals.ms/forum/threads/can-only-buy-items-in-their-stack-limits-or-less.88031/#post-463681
This is one feature that should have stayed. There's no reason to have players forced to purchase potions in smaller increments. It does not add to game playability nor does it offer users a new experience. If possible please have this reverted.
I don't see why it's a big deal, as a thief I have to go through all 15-20 sets of my stars and recharge each individually rather than a "recharge all" choice. Why should potions be any different? If we're gonna have a feature like that for potions, then one for all things consumable should be implemented.
Recharing is quite easy, you just hold down enter key and click recharge. Also if you have shadow claw it takes days before you need to recharge. Making a recharge all button will be a very hard task, while making it so we can buy 1000 pots at a time is quite easy(change a few lines of codes). Arch mages needs to buy potions very frequently, also when buying potions we have to manually type in "100" every time. I usually buy up to 5000 pots in one go, means I manually type "100" 50 times, this can be shorten down to 5 times. I also agree with this, as long as its consumable that is sold from a normal npc store.
Something we may be able to look into in the future. It may require a bit of reworking of the inventory system to ensure no issues occur as I doubt very much it is as simple as just removing the limitation. We will want to get some more core functionality out of the way before looking into seeing how possible this is to bring back.
