why do i think i got banned: probably my character name
message on login: you may not access your account because you've been permanently banned

ok so the other day a GM in the forums told me i needed to change my character's IGN. i told him that was fine and even gave him a few different igns. he never replied to me. that was a couple weeks ago. anyway, so i was in the FM talking to friends and suddenly i'm banned out of nowhere. i have no idea if it's related or if it's a bug because i didn't receive a reason when i was banned.

i'm fulling willing to cooperate and change my ign if need be, i don't know why the GM didn't just get back with me in the first place.

 

Actually you were banned for dropping the N word in the FM.

Though yes your IGN does need to be changed, that's something an admin has to do, and is unrelated to the ban.

 

well i'm black myself, so i don't know why this is an issue exactly.

every black person i've met on the server has thought my ign was hilarious btw. i don't know what right you have to be offended on our behalf anyway. i actually find that kind of offensive.

 

Doesn't make a difference. It's a derogatory term, and we dont allow it at all. If you want to talk like that, you can do so among your friends in buddy chat or guild chat.

walk up to any black person on the street and try and police their use of that word. it is OUR word. you have no idea how incredibly racist what you just said is.
this is so typical. telling us what we can and can't say. being offended on our behalf. treating us like children with no agency whatsoever. let me tell you something, you are not our caretaker. if the black people on the server are offended by someone's words or actions WE WILL TELL YOU OURSELVES. I am a grown adult and i can take care of myself just fine.
when a black person uses the word "" it is a term of endearment. it has no racist connotations. how could i be racist to myself? how could i be offensive to myself?
i cannot believe your ignorance, have you ever interacted with a single black person out in the real world in your entire life?
i wish i could say this is the first time i've been treated like this, but unfortunately it seems racism is alive and well.
i demand a formal apology, as well as a full restoration of my account, or i will be reporting your server to the GTOP 100 site you advertise on for blatant and overt racism, and will advise all other black players to do the same.

I made one mistake : it's a 3 day ban. Not perm. I messed up when submitting it. My apologies.
However I will not apologize for anything else because it is the server rules that you agreed to upon joining. I don't care what your race or ethnicity is, there is a 0 tolerance policy on using that word and a few other derogatory terms in public chats.

You will be unbanned in 3 days.

 

Please keep in mind that our rules regarding usage of language are based upon how language is interpreted internationally.
So when the N-word comes up for discussion, perhaps where you come from it's a harmless word, but this is not the case for a lot of other places in the world.
There's still a lot of discrimination going on in the world and we'd rather not contribute to this by allowing such language to be spoken in public on our server.
If you want to use this kind of language in a private chat to your friends then that is fine, but please keep in mind that the all chat in the Free Market is far from private.

We have all had plenty of interaction in the real world with people of all races, and we've learned that some have adopted such language as their own and that some are still upset or angry if you use it around them.
If you don't believe that your choice of words can hurt another human being, then you probably haven't used such language in front of strangers very often.

There's no chance this will happen.

Since the arguments you've used to accuse us with are kind of based upon nothing, I doubt they would take your report very serious, and thus I doubt it would result in anything.
The only thing it would likely result in, is in us terminating access to your accounts on Mapleroyals.
