This incoming wall of words is simply my opinion on what makes Royals so good. I've tried 4-5 different private servers over the last month or so. None of them have come close to capturing the same level of interest or feeling of Nostalgia as Royals. The servers ive tried have all been pre BB except one that was a clone of current maple (big mistake, never again) They all had different opinions on what they thought would be a good addition to the game.. They were creative decisions that the admins felt were good for their servers. I respect them for it. But in many cases some of the choices either made the game too easy, or far to tedious and grindy. 8x xp was too high, 2x and 1x was too low. What Royals offers in terms of XP rate is just right for me. Its right in the middle of to fast and too slow. The Meso Rate on Royals is also friendly towards new players and not too overbearing for Higher level players where you make too much. I completely forgot how god aweful it was to level up on a new server. Getting into your level 20's and still be wearing your Maple Island gear cause you're too damn broke to afford even the crappy basic class gear sucks. Making enough meso on Royals to afford those items, and a decient set of potions feels satisfying and rewarding IMO. I have currently two issues with Royals. First being in my opinion that equips drop far too often even for 2x rate. Somehow I see equips drop more frequently here than Ive seen on a 3x drop server. I feel like this leads to some of our Meso inflation issues. Far too easy to get 60-80m simply by farming equips. If we rebalanced some of the drops to have the weapons drop at a lesser rate, as they're usually the higher NPC value. Or maybe even change the amount equips NPC for, and keep the drop rate. Either way this is a minor issue to me. Secondly, the lack of additional content like Neo City, or Theme Park. This might be the only thing I found other servers did better than Royals. Addition of custom content was a huge thing, and it didnt take away from the game what so ever IMO. Most of this content was all pre BB anyways. The last thing that makes Royals so good for me, is the community. I've never had a problem finding a guild or making friends here. While I am somewhat anti social at times, and will often play without talking much, I still desire having friends to keep me feeling like I'm apart of something. No other server I've joined had anywheres the same level of accessibility to getting involved within their respective communities. I played on some servers for weeks, using a free smega which broadcast I was looking to join a guild, and never received even a single whisper, let alone an actual guild invite. I hate that some players, including myself at times, have taken this server for granted. With all this said, it doesnt mean I've simply glossed over the fact that Royals has been partially broken for close to 3 1/2 months now. It drives me crazy how poorly everything was thought out. I know a lot of people who have much stronger opinions on the matter than I do, many of whom I dont even know, just people who I consider important pieces of this community who possibly have left forever. It saddens me greatly to think about them never coming back even when Royals is fixed. I just hope, that once Royals is 100%, that the itch to play the best Nostalgic Maple server gets them to come back.
To be honest I've lost a noticeable amount of interest in playing here again over this. It's not a criticism towards the admins, and maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like a lot of people may not come back or be as active as they were before this happened. I won't even go to another private server, I just feel "bleh" about the whole thing.
