Stop being little snitches

There's a difference between a single-handed insult than being harrased. Harrasment should not be permitted, one or two insults could be. What you said is a question about common sense, which I hope everyone has a bit off, hopefully.

 

I agree with you Kristian and the OP. People here are really sensitive. However, at the end of the day, rules are rules. No one is stopping you from quitting this game. You're going to meet sensitive people in real life and people who can't take a joke. MapleRoyals also has people like that. Realistically, we have to treat MR as a professional environment because that is what seems to be dictated as per the rules.

 

What I've noticed is that many people on this server like to use the rules for personal gain. When someone they don't like slips out a "bad" word, they are quick to report that shit. It's grimy. There's a huge difference between swearing and harassing someone, but some like to victimize themselves.

I smega'd "hola" and had people whispering me telling me that they were reporting me for using non-English. Laughed so hard I almost wet myself.

 

Pretty sure majority became able to do this in middle school/jr. high, be mature enough to solve their own problems instead of involving authority, that is.

1) Insulting someone and reporting it is not snitching. Snitching is when you rat someone out, not when you're being harassed. If you harass someone, then you deserve to get reported. Learn to talk like a normal being.

2) This topic is endlessly discussed on this forum. I've been around for almost a year and every other week something like this comes up. It's not going to fix the rules or whatever. It's just a dead-end discussion. Either forget about it or go away.

3) I am guessing you were banned in the past for something like this. That or a friend was. If you're going to curse at someone, let it be your friend, not someone you barely know. This is MapleStory, a cutesy cartoon easy-to-play MMORPG. It's bound to have several little "babies" and "teddy bears". Quit fucking whining.

 

1) I know what snitching is. I was originally going to put it something that rhymed with snitches, but I felt as if that'd have gotten me banned. Also, just incase you didn't know, reporting someone it telling someone about someone else's offense. Telling on someone = Snitching. Just dropped some knowledge for you brah, "Like a human being".

2) It's not about changing anything, it's to point out an issue that some people (including myself) have seen within the server. Obviously the rules won't change. If anything, it's raising awareness on the matter, and is an attempt to persuade others to resolve problems on their own rather than wait for mommy GM to solve their problems for them (no offense GM's, you guys do what ya' gotta do).

3) Nope. Was not banned. Neither have my friends. Not exactly whining. QQ. Literally just picked up on the silly reports on "A" called me "B" because that never happens on the internet right?

I saw these reports as unnecessary is all. Obviously there is a division between those who agree on the carebearness (bam, just made that a word) of many people on this server and those who don't. This thread wasn't made to protest anything I or any friend of mine has done, or to change any rules. It was made to address the fact that we're old enough to deal with "minor offenses" on our own.

 

This is regarding #2. I think it should be about changing something. If this topic has been endlessly discussed, why hasn't something changed? What is the counterargument? Why are people getting banned for saying inappropriate things like "cc or bj" and "I'll pay you 50k to smd". Is this what it has come to? Yes it's immature but so what? It's absolutely ridiculous that I feel like I'm walking on eggshells playing this server.

 

If it isn't about changing anything, then what is the point of making this thread? Your opening post pretty much indicates that you want these "oh he cursed at me please ban that guy!" situations to go away. Again, this has been discussed from hell and back. Making several threads about it won't do a thing.

I really do not see this happening ever. Not everyone browses the forums, so how exactly will they know when to resolve little problems? If someone feels harassed or insulted by some curse word, they have the right to report you. It's just as simple as that. Don't want to be reported? Then be nice.

If you truly feel like you're walking on eggshells while playing this server, Royals is probably not for you. Seriously, how hard is it to be a nice civilian for MapleRoyals? Do you seriously have to spew unnecessary California-tier slurs while selling stuff or asking people to change channels? Just sell/buy/trade/cc and let it be done. Jesus christ.

Okay, guys. Harassing others is wrong. Insulting others is wrong. Harassing others can be compared to bullying others. In the United States, bullying is against the law. (Not sure about other places) Insulting someone is not against the law. Although being an ass is wrong, it isn't so wrong that someone deserves to be banned for it. This case, as far as we can tell, was not harassment, which people SHOULD be banned for. Got it memorized?

Seriously though, this thread is stupid. People will never grow up and deal with problems themselves, I'm not sure what you expect.

OT: I think people are too eager to report nowadays and the majority of the things being said wouldn't have been bannable a while ago, but it has been made clear we are to assume everyone here has emotions as fragile as a flower. That's the staff's choice and you have to respect it, no matter how stupid you might think it is.

I will take this opportunity to once again implore all of you to REPORT THINGS YOU ARE ACTUALLY OFFENDED BY, NOT THINGS THAT COULD BE OFFENSIVE. I cannot tell you the number of times a certain Kingpin cursed me out and flamed at me, but you know what? I laughed at it and moved on. Perhaps we should all try a bit more of that.

 

I don't think it is about being a nice person. Most of us are pretty chill. I think the problem is when it comes to someone getting banned or punished for something that did not have any actual effects or ill intent involved. I'm all for someone getting punished if they were just being a dick or an asshat.

Maybe it's not funny to you. I didn't say it but if someone said cc and someone else said suck my dick, I would laugh. That shit is hilarious to me. How is this even a bannable offense. If we were going to ban people for being a dick, we should ban people who use summoning sacks on people. We should ban people who rush the cake to the afkers to kill them. We should ban merchants who take advantage of people that don't know prices. Lets ban people who defame others.

The fact that people go crying to the GMs for something so trivial is reminiscent of an elementary school playground.

 

The problem here is why are people getting banned for this? I feel insulted when someone kills me with a summoning bag. Why is no one getting banned for that? I don't like it when people defame me, should people be getting banned? Where is the precedent here. You said yourself that people can be dumb like that. So if those people are the dumb ones, why are their reports still leading to bans?

 

Getting banned for an item that is created for the use of spawning monsters in town is just downright dumb. If it was a big deal, they would already have a system where you can't use the summoning bag in town.

I'm guessing you missed the big GURLZROOL splur. Long story short, if you're being defamed for absolutely no reason more than once (iirc), then yes it's bannable.

Because it is the GM and the administrator's job to decide the sentencing. For the fifth time, if the person was insulted/harassed by what you said, they have the right to report you. It's Moderation 101.

I'm not sure what your stand is. Are you mixed?
