This is where the focus turns from a community orientated event towards that of gaining capital for yourself, which i personally think is not on. I see what your trying to do here, but there is no viable way for the wider community to know that the lottery is legitimate and winners are not being chosen based on your close friends, or even your alternative account. Feel free to host events, just don't expect to come across as a community leader and pseudo-GM with this sort of operation, because its blatantly obvious that's your intention.
I'm guessing you misunderstood what I said there. I said that 20% of the all the lottery money will go straight to the events I will host. I simply am in no position to host them at the moment since I'm fairly poor. :c This might be completely gone once I got more money myself. That means that no money will be of use to me, I won't be earning anything with this. Secondly, there is a way to know. I will keep all lottery procedures public so that everyone can see it's done fair. Thirdly, I don't know why this would make me look like, to quote, a community leader and/or pseudo-GM. Just because I host some events and organise a lottery doesn't mean I'm a leader or a "pseudo-GM".
Honestly I wouldn't participate if the odds of winning are anywhere near close to a real lotto. It's just an easy way to give away money. Like I stated earlier I don't really find much fun in take-all-the-money-and-give-it-to-1-person events, specially if based entirely on luck. Now, if you add some skill...
Did I ever say I would give it to one person? Id rather split it and 20% of the participants win some money... And how should I add skill to a lottery? The skill will be needed in the events, for which the lottery is: To make money for the events. As I said, all earnings on my side go to the events.
Okay, so right now, it seems that 3/4 (75%) would like to see a weekly lottery. I will optimise my concept and make a thread about it ASAP. With these lotteries, I can host events (since all winnings go to the events) and the no votes would be nullified, since there will be bigger prizes. I will probably still pay a decent amount out of my own pocket.
