Right now the drop rate is simply too low, I don't have an exact number but they're too low. Past events have never been so stingy with drops so it doesn't make sense why this event is especially considering the fact that our playerbase isn't as healthy as before. The low drop rate might be discouraging players who aren't sure whether they want to return or not from fully participating in this event. I get that these events are meant to be a little challenging but when the challenge boils down to killing the same repetitive monsters more, it gets mundane. I suggest doubling, tripling or even quadrupling the drop rate. This might seem like it'd be way too easy for 4th job mages but I don't see any problems with that. End game players with 4th job mages aren't the only people that matter, for those without a 4th job mage it's almost impossible to farm enough candles to exchange for the items they want without having to buy them off people which isn't fair. Imo the only reasons why you should have to buy candles is because you're either too lazy or don't have the time but can afford to blow mesos on them, in other words they can afford to skip the hard work. If quadrupling the drop rate seem too high then increasing the amount of candles you need to exchange for the items to balance the increased drop rate would be fine too. People like it when they get instantly rewarded for what they do so seeing candles drop once every 3 or 4 mobs would encourage more people to farm them. Another way to make candles more attainable is to reduce the cooldown for the jq or add other ways to get them, whether that be from presents or whatever. TLDR - I need more candles
You can easily get 100 candles per day just by doing the JQ, that would be 6000 candles by the end of the event per character. Also, it's a two month event, so plenty of time to do any necessary farming. I don't think the droprate will be an issue.
6000 candles is only enough for three of the items and the JQ is not meant to be the sole source of candle/sun. It's only meant to be fun and an additional, optional source. It also gives sunshine as an alternative, which can let people enter Maple Hill. I've been grinding on my mage for a while and I've got 200 candles in the time it took me to get 2000 sunshine. Two levels leeching a lvl 107 - 108 character. I definitely think it needs to be increased at least by 50% - It's been a couple of hours of grinding at ulu 2 on a 1 hit arch mage to only get 200 candles...probably close to 2-3 hours worth based on time between cake bosses. Averaging it out to be about 2 hours for 200 candles, that's about 20 hours just for one of the 2000 candle items. It doesn't feel very rewarding.
the drops are so rare I get surprised whenever I see one drop. But then again im just an old hermit doing quests
The drop rate should be increased for sure. I'm farming random scrolls and orbis etc, and I didn't get even 200 after farming for hours and hours. It is WAY too low considering the fact the event will last only 1 month. And like Xanark said, I legit surprised when they drop.
Event will last for 2, not 1 month. And I agree the drop rate should be increased. The actual rate is kind of low, but we originally thought it would be a good rate given how many (especially mages) would be farming, but that of course didn't turn out to be favourable.
To give a visual estimate on the drop rate: In the time it's taken me to get all of those Ulu2 and Skele etcs, +1000 suns that I've used already, I've gotten 502 candles. Without any JQ added in.
I mean after an hour of grinding I got 44 candles, I feel like the drop rate could use a buff. Just because mages are OP at farming shouldnt really ruin it for every other class. You could always make multiple candles drop from a single boss.( or is that too much editiing)
Hey, me too! I've gone up three levels from grinding on my Crusader at Wolf Spiders and I think I have 50 Candles in total.
If mages farming too much is a problem, another option is to reward more candles for doing the jump quest. 100 candles as a reward would make things a lot easier and will benefit all classes equally
If anything, I'd like an increase of candles gained from JQ by 50, up to 100! don't, i was kidding As of the candles gained by grinding/leeching/afk farming is less than what I expected it to be. 1 out of 10 sunshines (what I have experienced from farming @ stoppers), a candle is dropped, which seems below average to me. An increase of 1.25x of its regular value, which would result in 1 per 8th now, seem way better odds and wouldn't hurt at all. This will help people who are playing less than other do and probably push for one of those untradeable chairs, maybe even two. Just giving my two cents on this.
