Yo, Gonna make this brief, not going to create an essay. Anyway, been here for a few days and I see people selling maps. Like seriously, players aren't entitled to the maps they find, so they shouldn't have the privillege to sell it or rent it or whatever. It isn't fair to other players who want to use the maps, and also selfish. I think map selling should be prohibited, that's all. Criticism on this allowed, constructive please. No trollings, thanks. -Raizel
I think it is one of the worst things to happen to MapleRoyals. Makes me sick people selling maps instead of helping out a fellow Mapler.
I don't think it should be prohibited. People should be able to do what they want, and if they want to charge money for something that they do not own, then by all means, let them. From what I've seen, the sellers are generally looked down upon, and no one really has an interest in buying.
What you say makes sense, however what if the buyer decides to try to take the map by force, and the seller decides to KS? That will lead to a conflict, possibly involving others. Then I've nothing to say about it.
Claiming ownership of a public map is pretty stupid in my opinion. If the ownership of maps and selling of it is accepted, then what's to stop a guild monopolising certain maps by selling to one another at insider prices? The law would work for them as any attempts to challenge their 'ownership' of the map would be denounced as harassment and killstealing. Inputs from GM would be nice
Haha it's fine Just glad to know there are others who took action about these sort of issues as well.
I voted no on making this prohibited because I don't find it a bannable offense. But that doesn't mean I approve of it either, it's just something the community has to handle themselves. Just ignore those map sellers, or if you should be looking for a map yourself and they are just sitting in the map they are selling just say you'll be using the map until he finds a buyer (worked twice for me)
The first time I saw someone selling I sat in his map and waited. He kept telling me to "cc or pay" and I just sat on the stairs and made very occasional small talk. Apparently I bothered him enough that he threatened to report me many times (never did) and later left the map, which I promptly took.
So.. The votes are equal. Wow seriously? Anyway, I hope to have the staff opinion on this as well, thank you.
I voted no because it is a civil matter and those that do it are not going to be very popular in the community anyway. It is their choice and not something we should have to police. Check out the other thread about this for more opinions.
People who are voting yes, do you also condone KSing? Because if you don't allow KSing, it doesn't make a difference and now you don't have a map.
What I think most people (OP included) fail to realize is that map selling arose when player/-s showed interest in buying GS2 maps/channels (it's the most populated map currently and people really do have to fight for a free map), just because they didn't wanna bother waiting for a free channel/didn't feel it was worth going somewhere else. The supply didn't create the market, the demand did. The supply (8 available channels) has always been there, but with a skyrocketing increase in playerbase, the demand has risen. That's usually how business works. There wouldn't be a market for it if nobody actually wanted to spend money on it. As for my second point, the misunderstanding goes both ways. You claim (yes, KSing is not allowed, read the rules) ownership of a map as long as you're actively grinding there. Open to interpretation is how long you can be absent before you theoretically "lose" ownership (bathroom break, repotting etc). There will be jerks who will try to take advantage of this and just hold maps and try to sell to whoever comes by, but that was created by the demand, not the other way around. If people didn't smega "B> GS2 maps Xmil", there wouldn't be a market.
I don't have a defense for this really, but selling maps doesn't bother me particularly. If they want to sell it, then they can sell it. Their choice. It's been happening for awhile now.
The feedback thread on this topic can be found here. It includes feedback from a few of the staff. Personally I don't think it should be bannable just because there are already so many other things a player can be banned for, I don't see a need to add onto that already-long-list.
well it all depends. i personaly, if had GS2 map and every chanel was taken, would probably sell, if i had any other spot to train. U MUST TRAIN on map, u afk -> its free... no1 force u to train on maps so if u can earn cash by selling ur spot, why not?
