I'm really not sure if this is the place for this, and I know its probably low on your priority list. Its been nearly 8 months now of dying not costing anyone any exp loss. I am probably one of the very few who even care for this feature right now. I've made certain characters and gotten them to certain levels and would like to keep them at those specific levels. I have a bishop at level 120 and an SE mule at 129. Without being able to lose exp from dying, I have been avoiding even using my 120 bishop to leech anyone with it. For 8 months. As I have started creating a new character, I have since started leeching with it again. The closer I get to leveling on this character the less I want to play it and will instead have to pay someone else to do something I can very readily do myself. I guess I would just like there to be death EXP again. If I'm the only one who wants this brush this post off and walk away I guess. But having to put my own worked on character away to keep it at its current level for any longer will just make me wonder why I ever made it. TLDR: Please fix Death EXP loss for those of us who have characters we want to stay specific levels. Picture for example
We fully intend to bring back the experience penalty upon death, however there is no explicit timeline on its return at the moment. We will not return this to the game without simultaneously reintroducing Safety Charms for players who would like to protect their experience, which may slow down the release of this feature.
Hi Michael, I appreciate your reply on this subject. I had figured that everything you stated was the case in regards to the Safety Charms and exp loss being implemented at the same time. And I know many other things take priority over this feature. I know one extra level doesn't matter much, but for some the more they use the characters, the exp will continue to stack up and 1 level turns into 2, and so on. As I have little to no experience with coding and how things can be done or can't be done, is it at all possible on a once per month to once per 2 months to ask in character issues for a reduction on a single characters (One Per User, NOT account) exp bar which could be mass handled on server checks? I know it would asking very much as the staff has many more problems to deal with, just throwing the idea out there.
I'm actually in the same boat as you @PerfectSin with a low level bishop that I want to keep level 125 so it can 1 hit WS & Harps. I don't think that with how much we have to suicide that what you're suggesting is really worth the effort & would just make sense to hold off until exp on death is implemented. You wouldn't get that far with 1 death every few days either, just my $0.02
I remember playing on servers with an @exp command, which would let you lower your exp rate if you wanted. Would this be easier to implement (or even have it as just a bool, like @exptoggle toggles if you can get exp or not (meaning the multiplier is 1 or 0)?
We will definitely not be implementing a player command to allow players to control their own experience at this time, and almost certainly not in the foreseeable future either. After reading this thread, we will consider pushing up the release of experience loss on death and Safety Charms, however we are currently looking into fairly important improvements to the server at this time, so I cannot guarantee or even truthfully suggest that this change will return soon. I do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of this feature.
