How exactly do you propose to enforce this then? Because if you allow account sharing for one purpose, you are allowing account sharing for EVERY purpose, including the detrimental ones.

this is exactly why I tried to put that into light as well.

What a challenge. Trying to put forward a suggestion, being attacked by huge 3m waves. hehe

By allowing account sharing, you revoke the ability to receive help for being hacked. Possibly including bans? Would be iffy since the autoban can be trigger happy sometimes.

It is often a good idea to see if a suggestion has been made before. And if it has, read what is there and think carefully about whether or not you actually have anything NEW to contribute.

Get used to it, that's the real world. Put anything on the table, and people will challenge it, because we all care about the server's well-being.

But it's choppy waters. What I need to do is write a formal essay, ask for people to respond professionally.

What? The rule was always part of the server. It wasn't introduced because of a specific incident.

We have already had this discussion regarding account sharing here. (As someone has already mentioned). I'm seeing ALOT OF re-used points, I recommend everyone to read through that thread first if they wish to continue. And if this thread does continue, I hope to see some NEW IDEAS.

Account sharing will never be made permissible on this server. As others have said, it is a complete waste of a GM's time to see if the person has gotten permission to account share, is following all the rules associated with account sharing that have been proposed, etc.

Oldie mentions a certain quest being coded. First off, why? What's even the purpose of having a quest coded? So that if you appear in rankings and * shows next to your name like Barry Bonds in the record books? Got to Level 200 but did it with help? I don't understand what this would accomplish.

Furthermore, if I was account sharing and was grinding to 200 for pride, there is no way I would say in that quest that I WAS account sharing. You're assuming people are honest, and let's not kid ourselves, if I had a penny for every time someone from this game has lied to my face, I would be buying a new airplane. And, what if when the quest was completed you did not have the intention of account sharing but someone you meet in game becomes friends with you and you two decide to account share? Now the GMs have to get in contact with an admin to edit the database to say you are indeed account sharing whereas you said you wouldn't be on the quest.

There really is a lot to consider when discussing something like this which I feel isn't even being looked at. One of the biggest concerns from a previous thread that was brought up (by Chicken Stix I believe) is the fact that the rule change would be added work for the GMs. The GMs have PLENTY of work on their plate, they don't need one more thing added to it.

People account share anyways. If you allow account sharing with the addition of the account sharing agreement, it would isolate those that are indeed account sharing, and scare them away from ever making reports for stolen password etc because they agreed to not being able to post such reports when they chose to account share legally.

I'm not suggesting to completely throw out bans for account sharing. Of course people won't be honest, that's why I said automatically ban anyone caught account sharing and not admitting to it.
(Now I realize complications may arise when players would like to start account sharing while in the middle of their maple career. Due to this, I believe choices for account sharing should be allowed only at the start of account creation (that's why I said first character on the account will get the quest) and no exceptions for later admits of account sharing.)

In reality, this may ease the GMs' work as they may see less false reports.

It would change nothing in current account sharing rules but only stop good players from getting banned for virtually no reason.

You have the entire server in your hands. You can bend it to make anything possible. If you do not want to use a quest, you can always add in a collapsible Account Sharing part in the registration process.

After that, you can get creative. You can completely isolate these players from the top 100, and you can create a formula that produces a max achievable level this account's character could reach if it were solo played. So that the benefit of it being co-played doesn't let it race to 200.
(Or some other stupid limiting factor)

Or, you can only do the first thing and let these accounts be. Because really if you only had 1 incident so far, I'm sure you won't have more than 10 people at a time going all out. And if it ever becomes an issue, these players can be stopped. Agreed? Heck you can add a rule stating that you can't account share in order to speed level an account.

Why go through all that trouble instead of dealing with the few isolated incidents that occur with regards to account sharing? Saying "people account share anyways" means absolutely nothing as it is against the rules. Sure they share and what do we do when we find out? More often than not, permanently ban them (exceptions are made in certain circumstances of course). System has worked fine for me since I started as staff here last year, and I see no reason to change the system now.

It's weird how times change. Prewipe this idea was a rule, but it was hardly enforced, if at all. So many people used to share accounts! Good to see some of these often overlooked rules are being enforced as well!

Everyone will just borrow bishops to leech themselves. No one will ever train by themselves again. That's why I think account sharing is forbidden. But I agree that it's too strict in some terms.

Still can't believe they banned Lance for this trying to HP wash his gf account T_T Don't see it as a permanent ban for such a thing. But who am I to judge the rules.

    R.i.p. Skadi I miss you :'(
