Two effects that happened in GMS and on other servers and are pretty much guaranteed to happen here: a) It will make people feel as though the ONLY time worth grinding is when they're gonna get extra EXP. b) It will cause enormous drama at GS2 and other popular maps, as people want to make the most of the EXP increase. Sounds terrible to me.
Awesome idea. Some people can't play 24/7 and can only play 2-3 hours on the weekends. Of course the hard core no lifers are going to beat your idea to the ground
There are other grinding spots. If they are idiotic enough to choose one specific map because it is the best, then it is their fault. Guys saying "ong promote ks wtf challengr gone!" - it is a few hours a week, for the sheer enjoyment of grinding (boosting Exp for a shorter amount of time), making the game funnier. Instead of saying no, wouodn't it be better to try it, then have a feedback thread to actually give feedback on the event? It is nothing else than the GM held events, just with a temporarily rate increasement.
EXP event will result in higher amount of KS reports. thx. edit.// there are ppl with different time zones anyway. and ppl play 24h on MR... u wont satisfy every1
Ok let's just weigh the possible pros and cons against each other and see how they stack up, alright? Pros >People will be able to level faster >May promote map sharing and good behavior >May motivate people to train Cons >More people online might cause the server to overload and crash >Instead of promoting good behavior in the community, may lead to KS wars and unnecessary reports >More map selling, and inflated prices just before the event starts >May instead demotivate people from training as the disparity between Tier1 training maps and Tier2 training maps widens (like in my previous example using GS2 and GS5) >KSing might spill over into maps where KSing currently isn't an issue. Hmm, I wonder which way the scale tips.....
Instead of being so pessemistic about it, how about giving it a try? Better to fail with trying, instead of failing without trying. I doubt there would hop on another 200-300, which would cause the server to crash. It could be a player online limit for that. Mape map selling against the rules then, I'd be completely fine with that as a rule tbh. Possible, not certain to happend. I doubt.
Our server is low rate for a reason. Other servers offer higher rates for those who find grinding boring. I think if you're here to level quickly then you would be better served by other servers.
why would any1 bother anyway. not like they will add event like this... maybe once per month but not week XD. choo choo... dont rage like this bro
I just remember that the last private server I was on, there were double exp/drop events once per month for about 8 hours. We would get like 3 or 4 people together and boss run or just grind and have a grand ol' time. Of course, I could play like 2-3 hours MAX so I couldn't farm or grind hardcore, but it made grinding a lot less of a hassle to keep up with guildies that had a lot of time on there hands and made it easier to make money, since these 2x events didn't last long relative to how long vanilla rates were up, it didn't really impact the economy. This server was pretty low rates too. 8x/4x/4x I think?? But it worked out alright. It made the game better for me. Don't knock it til you try it bruh
Instead of an 'increased exp' event on weekend(s), why not give people an item(s), like a potion or skillbook, which gives more exp for x hours? So they can choose whenever they want more exp. Problem is, that once the server crashes, which happens lets say once per day randomly, the used booster will be gone.
I think this would be very much preferable to ?xExp events at set times, as long as the items were one-of-a-kind (meaning that you can't hoard them) and completely untradeable. Something like this would mean that people wouldn't lose out because of their time zone, or because they work weekends, and it would avoid a mad rush on popular maps. It would also avoid that sinking "urgh, it's 2x, guess I gotta grind, bleurgh" feeling because you'd be able to choose when to use the coupon (or whatever). Having said that, I think it's highly unlikely we will be having any sort of regular multiple experience events here.
As the saying goes, don't knock it till you try it. However, from my perspective I wouldn't be interested only because as someone stated before, their least favorite thing to do in GMS was grind. Slow/boring/annoying etc I loved to meet friends, and pq. (beaten to death because I ALWAYS mention pq's) but that's just my preferred thing to do. So, all in all... it's a hit or miss.
