    this doesn't refer to anybody.
but shouldnt the report abuse and ban appeal section be blocked off for no one to see except staff?
because if you report someone and they happen to stop by and read it and they get upset wouldn't that cause more damage?
im not trying to change anything on the server im just confused to how it works on this server.

I dont see any reason why the players should be involved in this.

The reason it isn't eyes only, I suspect, is the notion of transparency.

For abuse reports, we do need to those who have been reported or those who were witnesses to be able to read and reply to the reports, so I don't feel that this idea is feasible.

Transparency is the idea of being open in your actions and intentions so that the people at large can make informed decisions and form meaningful opinions about the powers that be; it is meant to generate some measure of accountability.

This is why, in civilised societies, court proceedings are generally part of the public record, for example.

than simply ask the people that they are reporting to tell their side of the story not just put it on a public thread.
im not trying to be rude but if everyone can see everyone can judge.

    1) We sometimes need input from witnesses who were there.
    2) Having things clearly there on a public thread is the most efficient way to get the information to and from all concerned.
    3) Transparency. The more we keep information about offences under wraps, the more we lay ourselves open to (for example) accusations of banning people for no reason.

If you are worried about someone seeing your report then send it in a private message. Usually, unless it is an actual harassment report, you can just post it to the public.

I would seriously rather that people don't PM us unless there is a very good reason to do so, for example, asking Dustin for evidence of vote abuse, giving us their date of birth or their IP/MAC address, or reporting an abusable glitch that should not be made public for obvious reasons.

    dont really care.
    it's what it is.
im just saying, that SOME people would not appreciate the fact that their report or appeal is made public because of intimidation.
but what you said is an solution so their really is no problem anymore that needs attention
