At the tower go down to aqua road. Use the dolpin taxi to go to the sharp unknown. Welcome to Korean Folk Town Arriving in KFT Chumji is located top left and tells you he will help if you can bring him the blue light villagers see at night. This refers to the mob called Blin(lvl 60). These are located to the far right of the KFT region in a map called: Top of black mountain. You need to collect 200 Blin's flame they only drop from the morphed blin (Blin's second form). Rough estimate 1 drop per 50 kills Blin's flame is a quest item and therefor untradeable After delivering the blin's flames to Chumji we need to go pay Chun Ji of Victoria Island a visit. Chun Ji is located on Kerning City Construction Site. This is 1 map left of Kerning City. Tells you a story about the ancient times and about dragon fire. Only 2 monsters currently have this, Red Drake in perion and the Behemoth deep down in the sanctuary (Jr.Balrog) After this rattle of dragon monsters Chun Ji sends us to the Rememberer in Sleepywood. The Rememberer tells us that Chun Ji lost a part of his memory and we need to find a "special item" to boost Chun Ji's memory. The item is dropped by "Fire-breathing drakes up in the Rocky Mountains" On to Perion it is than to slay some Red Drakes (lvl60). Spoiler: Red Drakes? Red drakes spawn in a map near perion. Take the bottom right portal out of perion. Stay top side and move left till you see a wooden door. This leads to a hidden map with copper drakes. Go trough the top portal to get to the hiddenmap Dangerous Valley 2. This is were Red Drakes spawn. After killing some Red Drakes a etc. ring will drop called the "Dragonfire Ring" Bring this ring to Chun Ji for him to remember how to grow the "Breath of Lava" To create the Breath of Lava you need a "Hardend Crystal Flask" a "Inert Mysterious Substance" and a Flaming Feather. Porter of Omega sector knows how to make the Hardend Crystal Flask. Carson of the Zenumist Society knows how to make the Inert Mysterious Substance. The Flaming Feather is dropped by Selkie Jr. at Mysterious Path 3 Spoiler: Flaming Feather To obtain a Flaming Feather you need to travel to Singapore (CBD) This is possible by talking to Irene. Located on the right side of Kerning City. Arriving at CBD you need to walk 3 maps to the right untill you hit Fire Extinguisher monsters. In this map you take a top right to enter Quay Boat Town. Again we walk 3 maps to the right to reach Mysterious Path 3. Spoiler: Omega sector From Orbis you take the boat to Ludibrium. Go 2 maps left to the EOS tower (LPQ tower) Jump all the way down (suggest to buy EOS rock scrolls) Porter is located in the Command Center next to Dr. Kim To create the Hardend Crystal Flask he sends you out to get: Spoiler: 1Moon Rock Dropped by MT-09 Forged by Pi 1 map left of Ludibrium with 1Bronze Plate, 1Steel Plate, 1Mithril Plate, 1Adamantium Plate, 1Silver Plate, 1Orihalcon Plate, 1Gold Plate and 10,000 mesos. Take the top portal and keep going deeper untill the map Dungeon: Drake Area / Cold Cradle / Drakes Nest. All these 3 maps spawn Ise Drakes. Spoiler: 600 Iron Hog's metal hoofs At Henesys just right of the cab is a tree. Climb that to enter a hidden map. These maps hold the most Iron Hogs in the whole server. Spoiler: Magatia From Orbis you take the Ariant genie boat. From Ariant town you take the 3rd portal on the right to find the camel cab. Carson is located on the far left inside a building. To create the Inert Substance he sends you out to get: Spoiler: 200 Fire Bomb flame From Zipangua (shrine) walk all the way right to find Showa town. In showa is a bathhouse (Gachapon location). Inside on the right side of the mirrors is a hidden portal taking you to a map with all firebombs. 100 Mateon tentactes 200 Red essence Spoiler: 30 bottles of drake's blood From ellinia you take the black cab to Ant Tunnel Park. Keep going deeper into the dungeon untill you hit the map Dungeon: Drake Hunting Ground 500,000 mesos After collecting this huge ammount of items for Porter and Carson you need to head back to Chun Ji at Kerning City. He will give you a Poweless Breath of Lava. And the words: Go see Sea Witch Carta in Aqua. Spoiler: Aqua From ellinia you take the boat to orbis, from there the crane to Mu Lung. From Mu Lung you take the crane to Herb Town. The map left of Herb Town is the Dolphin taxi to Aqua. Sea Witch Carta is located in a hidden cave down Aqua road. To get to her you go 1 map left of Aqua town. Use the left bottom "hidden" portal to get to Deep Sea Gorge 1. Halfway down the map on the left side is a black cave entrance. Enter this to find Sea Witch Carta. Sea Witch Carta tells you that she can help power the Poweless Breath of Lava. She only requires a few crystals. 1 Dark Crystal 1 Power Crystal 1 Wisdom Crystal 1 Dex Crystal 1 Luk Crystal 1 million mesos These crystals can be forged by Vogen in Perion. After delivering these items to Carta she gives you The Breath of Lava. Congrats for finishing the Zakum Jump Quest without jumping! Time spend on the total quest 15 hours. Char used lvl 145 Hero * Original thread beginning * After a break from 7+years of Global MapleStory i joined Royals for the back to basics Maple experience. Now i got to the point were i would like to get a zakum helmet and skillbooks, thing is i cant get passed zakum jump quest. Sadly this is not just a "GitGud" situation. I am colorblind and suffer from severe anxyity linked to my autism. (comparable to a living hell for 28years already) This makes the JQ impossible to complete since i cant see some platforms nor can i see 60% of the rocks falling so i cant propperly time and the gas clouds are very, very hard to see. And if i do get passed some bottleneck points i get to exited and just derp into the lava. I have been on and off to zjq ALOT. The last month alone i spend atleast 40 hours in the zjq room (actively jumping and raging) and i only passed to stage 2 once with the help of a good buddy. Back on GMS i was a Beta tester (with the mark of beta ofcourse!) and owner of 25 characters all above lvl 140 (including a beginner and a hp powerguardwarrior) so i know what it is to grind and spend alot time on something. But the main reason i had all those characters was that there was a alternative to the zakum JQ. No not alot people knew about this and it was not the easyest way to go if you can pass the zjq in a few hours. The alternative consisted out of a few quests and a few area boss kills. (drops) This took up 2-3 days depending how active you were and you needed to be lvl 85 or 100 (not sure anymore) to be able to do the last quest needed to complete the alternative route. When all this was completed you needed to message a GM to confirm that you actually completed all quests and had all drops on you to get a TP to the last zjq stage to click on the npc. Now ive been asking around on the shoutbox at this forum but there is no such thing here since the game needs to be "authentic and old skool" This would mean i can never get my zakum helmet, skillbooks and join zakum runs. Things i have tryed: - Spend ALOT time jumping - Buddy leading the way - Buddy dropping coins on the platforms - Having my gf next to me saying when the rock dropped (works but its toslow to make the jumps) - Colorblind color filter over the screen (helps a little bit) - Youtube jump videos including the slowmo ones - Whining to GM Yanir about my situation And please dont come up with answers about the drop rate being high. Just make the quest line longer! Ideas on quests for the quest line All of Omega sector quests (including the 1100 mateon tentacle etc) All of NLC quests (including the depstar questline) All of Crimsonwood quests (including the cwkpq questline) Pap pre quest + pap kill I have done almost all of these quests exept finish the cwkpq and kill pap and it already took me over 10 days to complete these. (quite active playing 7ish hours a day ) Yes it is possible to get help on most quests but who in the right mind goes and farms 1100 mateon tentacles to help out someone. These quests also require several trips down to Omega sector. Now i hope something can be arranged that people like me can get this zakum jq unlocked without breaking the server rules. > TLDR < version: 10day ish alternative questline to get zjq unlocked.
This is something we had looked into in the past but never acted on. Do you have any references to the specifics of the GMS alternative because I have never heard of what you were talking about in your post.
It has never been advertised on GMS in a big way so no i dont sadly. When i started there and zakum got introduced i hit this same problem with the jq. I send in a ticket explaining the same problem and i got a respond that they were looking into it. That situation took a good year becouse bringing out all maps was more important at that stage. When i got a responce on the ticket i needed to do some expensive and boring quests since area bosses werent there yet. In time the quest chanced to kill a few area bosses and do 5 quests (alcastar and elpalm magnets are the ones i remember) The area boss mob drops you needed to provide were the mini mushmom/zombie mushmom/ Jr balrog toenail/ mano shell Thats all i remember of it. The highest quest was a lvl 85 or lvl 100 one so there was no way of getting a zhelm at lvl 50-99 But yea those area boss drops and quests in Royals are way to easy to get so it needs to be spiced up.
In before the ableist "git gud" and "you can do it if you keep trying long enough" posts. You have my empathy - I have vision problems that make jump quests impossible even with my glasses or contacts, and the struggle is indeed real. I'm so glad to hear that the staff is considering an alternative. I'd happily do some protracted quest line or pay billions of mesos.
Thank you for the positive message! Sadly enough there are only so few struggeling with jump quests like those that alternatives usually dont even get conciderd. Its strange being able to get into HornTail but not into noob zakum
Hopefully you can get pass the zakum prequest by hook or crook. Sucks to be without a good zhelm in royals.
I´m not able to do the JQ either. It honestly makes me want to quit the game. My anxiety problems escalate...
I had the same issue with you doing the JQ. Hundreds of attempts on GMS and I never completed the JQ and always got stressed out and would implode under anxiety. I would eventually wind up having friends complete it for me. And it was this way till I joined Royals. Once i reached a point on Royals where I had absolutely no choice but to do it on my own, somehow, the planets aligned or something in August of 2015 i completed it. I still have anxiety when I hit my 40's on a character knowing at 50 im gonna have to do the JQ again, but honestly I know i can do it.
If there would be a longer and more boring alternative would you choose to wait till lvl 100 or still try the JQ?
I brought up this exact situation a few years back. In the thread the idea of an alternative quest chain, which would arguably be much much longer and harder was thrown around. Honestly, at the time I would have certainly gone for the quest chain. But after completing the JQ as many times since as I have, i would probably stick with the JQ! Im not saying i dont want an alternative or that I now love the JQ, infact its one of the most painful things in a game I love as much as i do. I kind of just wanted to let some players who get anxiety when they try the JQ know, that you can do it! If I can do it, many more can too! It would be nice to have an alternative for players such as yourself who are unable to do it based on color blind, eye or hand coordination issues or who would prefer to have an alternative simply to change things up some.
I've almost the exact same problem. Took me about 30-40days to complete the JQ on 1 char in the past. The idea of my next char coming into level50 soon is a scary thoughts for me.
*Edit* As if in last week i passed the Zakum Jump Quest. After spending 1.5month and +40 hours i got so sick of it that i wanted to quit Royals but a old maple buddy of me came to the rescue. He sat next to me and called out all rocks and gasses since i rememberd all jumps already. Took us just over 1 hour to complete the JQ (and 20+ falls into the lava) Yesterday i did my first zakum run with the guild and got me a helmet (sadly no skillbook) After this experience i still stand strong for a alternative to the zakum jump quest or the zakum helmet (Scarlion&Targar is an option)
Even adding Scar/Targ would solve alot of problems of getting a helmet. With Scar/Targ the only problem are base skillbooks

Just my 2 cents: I feel like JQ's are a rite of passage of sorts. The zakum JQ is just cruel because it has only 1 checkpoint and you waste so much time walking back that you get out of the flow. I'd love to see an edited map for people who have trouble. For example with more ropes to climb out of the lava here and there, and then some measures against walking forward along the bottom of course. Anyway, good to read that you overcame! I can't imagine JQs with bad vision... And another 2 cents: I think a lot of people have trouble with JQs because they never used the setup.exe and unknowingly experience frame skips, and a lot of people have weird setups where they don't jump with their dominant fingers.
Have to agree that JQ are a rite of passage and sort of a unique experience for the game. But, what makes ZJQ "cruel" is that it is sort of "must-get" item of the game. There's no way to buy the helm (only looting inside) and you're right that there's only 1checkpoint. Had no problem with ropes, i always dropped from platform.
What i meant with the ropes was there should be ropes to climb out of the lava back onto the platforms. Many people make it up to the end of stage 2 but keep on failing at the hard part right before the end. You should be able to just climb back on there and try that part again. And I meant not everyone should get this version, just people who have struggled with the quest for too long.
