I read some threads revealing staffs were trying to stabilize the prices of white scroll and chaos scroll. I guess it was the reason that we were having the 2NX event.
From my observation the prices went down a little bit in the first few days of the event due to some ppl's worry of asset depreciation. However it seems not working very well in terms of stabilizing white scroll and chaos scroll's prices.
I thought through the progress of price change of ws and cs. The root cause of the price increase is not a shift but a trend. I think something missing here is that there are too many mesos in the market. We did not have the FM for months. The mesos recycled by the system was much fewer than that in the old source. In addition, we had the meso glitch thing a few weeks ago. People just have no confidence on mesos plus the fact that you need ws and cs as currency to purchase godly items. Everyone I know was trying to exchange mesos into ws and cs to prevent asset depreciation.
The feedback I would propose here is:
    1) we can be conservative. Basically we just allow the market function itself. Once the price goes higher, the more tax will be recycled by the system in each transaction. Eventually a new equilibrium will be reached and the prices will stabilize.
    2) we can be radical. However instead of giving more NXs, we should try to decrease the amount of mesos on the market. In another word, we need a stronger system than transaction tax to recycle mesos. One way I would think of is to have a NPC directly selling cs and ws at a price like 450 and 400m. In such way, the mesos could be taken back by the NPC. The price of ws and cs in the FM will be always lower than 450 and 400m as well.

It is just my personal thought. Discussion is welcome while abuse will be ignored

My concern with using an NPC is that we would have tons of WS and CS in the game which would lead to more end game equips, eventually making end game equips the norm rather than something elite and rare.

We are introducing another meso sink in this upcoming server check, which I would like to see if that helps to make a difference and take some mesos out of the economy.

If there are concerns about ws and cs making godly items, it can be an alternative to allow NPC to sell AP resets in mesos while raise the level requirement of purchasing AP resets by NX

All the people saying a WS/CS NPC will oversaturate the market with end-game equips probably don't know how difficult it is to make them in the first place or are underestimating the effort/luck required.

The hard part in creating end-game equips is making the mesos, not finding the scrolls themselves.

Why you guys having to worry on introducing new meso sinks, after removing the ones we already have?
Just bring back Beauty stuff for mesos, even if a bit more expensive than before.
I believe everybody would rather pay 5m for a hair change than 5k nx.

Another big meso sink was the teleport rocks, which are inactive still.
And also the Hired Merchant, that could have remained for mesos and still be timed as it is now.

Increasing our supply of NX increases our expendable NX for gaching, which has the side effect of increasing the supply of WS and chaos. However, I believe that the 2x NX is also sustaining the inflated WS and chaos prices. Vote abusers get double illegitimate money, which I feel safe to assume is reliant on the NX purchase and meso sale of AP Resets. Vote abusers are so easily funded by the rest of the playerbase because most people are in the market to buy AP Resets from other players, preferring to conserve their own NX for gaching. And upon vote abusers converting their NX to AP Resets to mesos, they can then buy WS and chaos for whatever price, because WS and chaos are $6 USD each, give or take, and they can accumulate vast stores of them to make the illegitimate endgame gear we've been seeing an increase of. The intention of the 2x vote to increase the frequency of people gaching to increase the supply of WS and chaos is a good one. But it is sustaining vote abusers who could care less about the price of WS and chaos when they gain double income across all their vote abuse accounts with this 2x vote. My first proposal is thus:

    1. Make AP Resets purchasable from an NPC.

This proposition shuts down the vote abusers. There is no other NX purchasable item that is so easily liquidated into meso. RWT starts with vote abusers and AP Resets, because the AP Reset buyer market is so vast. In fact, people must often buy AP Resets over the course of weeks, maybe months, trying to find sellers. It's a tedious process to get the hundreds of AP Resets necessary to HP wash and MP wash. It's unnecessary and it underpins the black market of RWT. The only argument against an NPC selling AP Resets is that it's not nostalgic, but if anyone can posit an argument against it for another reason, I'm interested to hear. On the price of how much each AP Reset should be sold for, this is a point that should be carefully thought about. I believe everyone is aware that to play Royals on a NL, sair, BM, or MM, it is virtually required that you HP wash to at least 9.1k HP clean. The endgame content we have (had) is HT. It is very uncommon that a run will have HB. I know the HTing world well, and it's assumed that people don't need HB and if you do, most likely people will just opt for someone else who washed to that threshold. It is precisely for this reason that there's a culture of new players who must come up with 5b or so just to wash one of these classes that they wish to main and play with to endgame. For most, this means hours and hours of grinding a mage, then hours and hours of leech selling. This is all too common, people who feel forced to play a class they hate just to make the money to play a class they enjoy. It is worth a dialogue to fix AP Resets at a lower amount, like 5m each, which would make a 9.1k HP ranged class possible at just 2.5b or so, a far more realistic sum for a new player that still presents difficulty and dedicated playtime, but is not daunting and disheartening.

It has always struck me as counterintuitive that staff have so willingly and readily doubled the rate of our daily vote NX and yet we have the great NX sink of expiring hired merchants. I am aware of the post former administrator Michael had written advocating for permanent hired merchants. From my personal talks with him, it is my understanding that his points in that post went undiscussed in staff chat. I urge staff to revisit his post and see the benefits of permanent hired merchants. I believe that permanent hired merchants will benefit the economy, populate the Free Market even more, and benefit new players. I am aware that an NPC selling AP Resets for meso will cause new players to lose this stream of easy income. I believe that shutting down RWTers warrants this collateral damage. However, it stands to reason that new players will move to gaching their expendable NX instead. This is positive for staff's goal of increasing gach rates and therefore the supply of WS and chaos. And when new players get mediocre items like the various scrolls from Shrine, with permanent hired merchants, they can sell these items and participate in the economy with no penalty like biweekly 12k NX expenditures merely to sell 10m worth of scrolls. Permanent hired merchants is positive for everyone, except the people staunchly against them because it infringes on nostalgia. A larger Free Market and economy allows us endgame players to buy the knickknacks we need like Helm Dex 100% scrolls that we ourselves wouldn't think to sell, and it allows us to fund and support the new players who will set up shops because they're a one time purchase that secures their participation in the market permanently. 12k NX is an inconvenient price to pay for us endgame players. It is detrimental to new players, who would likely rather forego an expiring hired merchant and keep gaching, with their scrolls kept out of circulation, and they are much poorer as a result. So my second proposal is:

    2. Make hired merchants permanent

I understand some people advocate for hired merchants to be purchasable for meso, continuing to expire. I believe this adversely impacts new players, where even a few million meso are important to buy pots, and continues to deter them away from market participation. Hired merchants bought for meso is consequential to us endgame players. It is a meso sink, yes, but I believe the meso sink idea of having an NPC selling AP Resets has far more benefits. Since new players will be negatively impacted by suggestion 1, suggestion 2 supports them in their earlygame funding. Given the scale of how many AP Resets are used by players, an NPC selling AP Resets I truly believe will sink far more meso than players paying a pittance every two weeks to have a hired merchant.

A laissez-faire economy is bad. For rich players, of which this group is comprised of the illegit RWTers and the legit players, we are not going to stop buying WS and chaos because we feel it's too expensive. Everyone knew WS and chaos are ridiculously expensive a long time ago. But we still continue to buy. We have to, to keep making progress on our gear. It just takes more time and more effort to buy one. I guarantee you that if WS and chaos reached 1b each, people would still be buying them. It's unhealthy for inflation to reach that far, but we already have an unhealthy amount of inflation that warrants correction. Prices will not come down or stabilize without intervention, of which I believe starts with dismantling the RWTers' income.

Now, for main main advocation, my third proposal

    3. Code an NPC that will buy and sell WS and chaos at a fixed rate.

I have made my very best effort to advocate for fixing the WS and chaos situation on this thread, and to lay it out as clearly as possible to you, Matt and John, so you might be able to understand how important the situation is to the players. I'm attached to this game and invested in its success, which is why I have gone through such effort to explain and propose a solution for something I genuinely am concerned is deteriorating the server and its economy. It is my hope that you two and the other members of staff, but you two in particular, will read this and seriously consider what the server currently is and is currently heading towards. I also hope this issue will be discussed in staff chats and fixed one way or another.

As far as I know about NPC scripting, coding an NPC to allow players to buy WS and chaos for a set amount and have that NPC buy those two items back with tax applied shouldn't be too difficult. It takes time and effort yes, but it should be reasonably doable. So my point here is to argue in favor of having this feature implemented.

In old source, WS and chaos prices were stable, WS at 300m and chaos at 320m, but I'll be saying their prices were 300m for the sake of simplicity. This already took players 3 hours of dedicated gameplay to afford one of these scrolls. Acquiring WS and chaos in old source was never easy. It took time and effort. And a lot of it. To just get one. But then their prices went up. Having an NPC to distribute and purchase WS and chaos is a very good idea. It is NOT a good idea to leave WS and chaos prices as they are, abnormally high and continuing to trend upward. There is absolutely no reason to make WS and chaos harder to obtain when everyone already had to spend three hours to obtain them when they were stable at 300m. The argument that there's too many perfect items, too many high att gear capes, gloves, shoes, is not because it's too easy to obtain WS and chaos. This is the case because there's "too many" people willing to put in the time and effort to make all that money and purchase the scrolls. And this is a good thing. So many people want to play and achieve their goals of having their own endgame gear. It is NOT too easy to make a perfect item. It took about 21b in old source for a perfect weapon. That's months of gameplay, hours every day making the money to get there. So prices go up, and it gets harder and harder for us players to obtain even a single scroll. When it was just fine to begin with.

Having an NPC who will sell WS and chaos for 300m is a solution that I seriously advocate. Inflation for WS and chaos is not good, and yet it's continuing. Having an NPC to both buy and sell WS and chaos at 300m stabilizes their prices. This NPC will make WS and chaos perfectly liquid, and the perfect currency by which players will conduct above max meso trades. For that matter, the NPC would standardize WS and chaos valuations in those trades. What's important is that such an NPC would make WS and chaos freely available to all players who have put in the time and effort to make the money to purchase one. The proposed NPC keeps Royals' economy healthy while also acting as a meso sink.

Currently, WS and chaos only come from gach. The two most consumed items aren't even used as a meso sink, which I think is a flaw in game design if staff are concerned that there's too much meso in the server. So you see, currently, WS and chaos are generated into the server and given to a player through gach. The player then can sell these scrolls to other players for pure meso. Meso that has been generated into the server via mob drops and NPCing items is thus just moved from player to player and not actually removed from the server. But the NPC would fix this problem. Having the NPC sell WS and chaos to players removes the meso from the server, rather than the current situation where meso merely shifts hands. And furthermore, the NPC even acts as a meso sink when buying WS and chaos from players, applying the 6% or even higher tax rate on the 300m sale price. I know from experience that players have used merchants, setting up their shops and putting in stacks of arrows for 999,999 or lower each to evade higher tax rates. This was a popular method when selling WS and chaos to trusted friends, having them buy the arrows and then giving the scroll. I also used this method when doing these trades. The problem was that often, none of my friends were in the buying market for WS and chaos that I was trying to sell. So I'd sell to a random for the full price in one trade, getting hit with the 6% tax rate. But even then, I wasn't always able to find a buyer over smega when I needed to immediately liquidate some of my WS and chaos holdings. Making WS and chaos perfectly liquid is just healthier for the economy. It doesn't make sense to prevent a player who has the money in WS and chaos assets from being able to convert those assets into pure meso for buying things at a moment's notice. Enabling people to buy and sell these scrolls and conduct other trades without the stress of finding buyers and sellers for these scrolls is better market design. Continuing to put obstacles to free commerce doesn't make sense. The current system makes it harder for people to buy WS and chaos, makes it harder for people to make their endgame gear, makes it harder for people to do trades above max meso, makes it harder for people to hold meso on a character over the maximum pure meso limit, makes it harder to curb inflation because of insufficient meso sinks. You will fix all of this by implementing the NPC to buy and sell chaos and WS.

We already have tons of WS and chaos in the game.

Endgame equips are already the norm rather than something elite and rare.

Back when you played John, perfecting an item was a great accomplishment. Hitting level 200 was a great accomplishment. Neither of those things are true now.

Everyone and their mother has a perfect Stonetooth Sword, White Nisrock, or Red Craven.

Now, people are looking for Dragon Claymores, Dragon Shiner Bows, and 60 att perfect clean Dragon Purple Sleeves.

Making perfect gear is already common, standard, normal. For that matter, endgame att gear is also common, standard, and normal!

The vast majority of the people I am friends or acquaintances with already have 22 att SCGs. Now, people are looking into 23 att BWGs because 22 att SCGs are so normal. Those days you played when illuminate had his hacker made 21 att BWG are long gone. 21 att gloves is below par for us at endgame. That's how powercreep has gotten over the past few years.

Ask your playing staff members, Tim, Yan, Matty, Eli, etc. if you don't believe me. I assure you, we already have tons of WS and chaos in the game and endgame equips are very much the norm and have stopped being elite and rare a while ago. The elite and rare equips now are Tim's 25 att SCG, Ty's 26 att PGC, and Tim's and Gabe's 29 att Red Sock. 23 att BWGs, 22 att PGCs, and 20, 22, 24 att FS or Red Socks are the new endgame meta, and it's a level more people have already achieved than you think.

    Exactly what Shiyui said.
It does not help anything to deny something for the sake of turning players down.
You think end game gears are too common while you introduce 2x NX event twice.
Last important feedback players gave you admins/gms was about the rate of getting ws/cs. People reported that ws/cs was too rare months ago when they were 330/380. But the only reply we got was, nothing was changed and the rate we get one of these was still the same. Months later when the new norm price is 400/450, the chances of getting one of these were finally increased. But unfortunately 400/450 has already been the norm price for months.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Making it 1.5 times harder to get end game gears may lead to a problem. Especially when stoppers are like worthless, and new source APQ is limited to 2 times a day.
    1. Chaosing attack gears once may take a normal high level player (or say pleb) half to one week of effort. The price of attack gloves/cape/shoes has increased to 1.4 to 2.8 times the old source price. It stops people from trying to chaos. The gap between well funded players and normal players is getting larger. New players need to spend 50% to 100% more effort than the old players (w/ perfect weapon, 15 - 25 att gloves/shoes/cape) to get end game gears.
    2. Stopper kills godly but not perfect gears economy. Right now stoppers are too common, and too cheap. The price is 250k ea, 50% what it was in the old source. An average boss run takes 30 min, which is 7.5m of stoppers (5m for NL).
Price of craven has dropped drastically. A 75 attack craven used to be 1.5b, now its 20% lower. Nisrocks are 10% lower. ST and ski price is intact primarily due to the much lower chances of getting one (clean 106 ST was 70m, 97 ski 100m. Now the price is 110m/150m).
    3. In the future when all bosses are functional, and APQ is back (with a daily limit), stopper will be the norm potion cuz of the dirt price, and only elite parties will be using apples. Boss runs are much easier, however hard to improve their dps further cuz people wont pay 5 times higher on apples just to carry others. If other people in the party are using apples, they use apples; if using stoppers, they use stoppers. The rareness of apple will stop most people from using three (50m) in a zak run, and six (100m) for ht body.
I hope royals will not have to take action when it's too late.

This honestly has bothered me far more than I ever thought it would. I feel like after 2 years of playing, im as far away from well funded players as a brand new player is. If you get lucky with either your gaching or your scrolling/chaosing, it absolutely lowers the diffculty of playing the game. If you're a pleb like me, and struggle to pass even a single chaos without it wiping the stats off your gear, you're stuck in a never ending cycle of praying to whatever Maple God you want, that just once you may be allowed to join the cool kids club of having nice stuff.

Also, just looking for some clarification from some people in this thread. Are we talking about how perfect items have become far too common since we increased White scrolls? And that attack gear has become over saturated with godly items because of more chaos's? Or are we discussing the opposite. I need help understanding the argument here, its 12am and ive had about 3 hours of sleep over the course of the last 36 hours. SPeaking of sleep ima head to bed and check in on things tomorrow. Maybe ill have a better time rereading the arguments here when ive had some sleep!

@Enticing I've been on the server for almost exactly one year and nine months now. You're an older player than I am, but the difference in our wealth is not how long it's been since we joined the server. The difference is because of how many hours we spend playing the server. I assure you, I have not gotten lucky with gaching except once when I gached a 104 att Sky Ski last last year that I sold for 5b this June. I was already at endgame funding levels by then. I also assure you that I have not chaosed anything good until the YSS Tim, Wolf, and I scrolled together, also in June of this year. My point is, I, and I'm sure many others, have had godly billions upon billions of meso worth of gear in a year without anything other than hard work. Even last year in old source, the richest players like Momo, Nessi, etc. made their insane sums by farming gobies on their bishops with SI, 80m an hour. Neither of them chaosed anything with the intent of profiting and selling it, from what I can tell from selling thread history. I'm sure they gached very rare and expensive things, but it's not like their hundreds of billions were from gach. Largely it's from the hours spent farming, grinding, dedication to earn the next hundred million. The only thing required on this game to get rich is to log the hours spent making money. For some, that is merching. For others, that is leech selling. And for still others, that's just farming all by yourself. Just sitting in FM with friends and talking is fun, sure, but it's not going to get you any gear progression. Play the game how you find it most fun. If being rich is more fun to you, you must be willing to work for it. I wish you all the best. :D

Perfect items and endgame att gear were already common in old source last year. The nerf to WS and chaos rates that came with new source just made WS and chaos rare so people paid more and more for the scrolls that were on the market. Then the meso gen exploit happened. So WS and chaos prices went up even more. Now we can get WS and chaos whenever we want, just paying more than we ever did for each scroll. Of course, there are more perfect weapons and endgame att gear now, but that's what happens in 9 months and with more new players who work to achieve those goals. Endgame equips were already readily (not easily) made before new source. It never was hard to find a WS or chaos seller at 300m in the entire year of 2016. So everyone who wanted to perfect an item could, provided they had the money to fund it.

We don.t to update our version like the official maplestory, so our equipment can be used until the end of the game, more and more perfect gear. But that doesn't matter.we nid More online people; need new players to join.to keep royals normal operation. too much old player quitting ,but less news joining.cause maplestory. Is not the mapleroyals attractive enough? no.maplestory is good enough.
We are in a dark period, stability is what we need. We've been through too much turbulence, and these experiences change our view of the game。those will cause the average player or even the top player quitting.
    peace!Stable!hope roysls can Prosperity again

Since new source hit, I've personally farmed and sold enough leech on my mage to fund 1100 AP Resets on a brand new 30k HP capable NL, and buy and use 55 WS on perfecting a claw. Both of these things were extremely rewarding to accomplish. It might make me ~jealous~ that others can do it cheaper, but if these ideas are implemented, I won't be the least bit salty. It just means new players will feel their end game dreams are reasonable without leeching other people for 8-12 hours a day for 3 weeks straight. It seriously burns a player out. Sure it all depends on luck and you can perfect an item in 12 ws (@2ScoopRice ) or it can take 55 or even over 100 to complete it. Seeing new faces strive for the goals many have done already would really make the game livelier and enjoyable to see new players being happy with the work they put in. No matter how little or how big their personal accomplishments are.

I usually don't take time to read such big postings here and there, since I'm a "pleb".
But Shiyui post got my attention.

I agree with 2/3 of your ideas.

Making NX+Temp. Hired merchants was kinda the worse idea so far on the new source.
NX is a limited resource, and for some people it's worth way more than for others.
I agree that it should be changed into one of it's two ways, either becoming permanent again and stay for NX,
or stay temporary but for some ammount of mesos.
As a merchant, it has been bothering me that you have to burn 1/6 of your nx to put up a store on random rooms
and channels, and in the end of the week you have no profit.

Making AP Resets a meso sink is also a good idea, although it's usually the main money-maker for new players,
this could bring them to Gaching, which wasn't the main idea for them.
And this brings up the 3rd idea, making WS/CS a NPC Item.

First thought: Building meso for a WS/CS isn't a lot of work, sometimes buying it is the hardest part of it.
There aren't many people selling it in the quantity the buyers needs, it may take days to build up your equips,
not because you don't have the mesos, but because you couldn't find the WS/CS at the market.
Making it be sold from a NPC will make it easier for those people to gather them, as long as they have the mesos.

Second: Where will you burn your Gachapon at? 2/3 of the players Gach's at NLC or Shrine, with hope to get one of them.
If those scrolls become that easy to get, everybody will have to use their gach at regular towns, which aren't as profitable.
Also, the main reason for their prices growing was the lack of them, and the RWT'ers paying whatever for them.
But, as long as AP Resets went to NPC, both new players and RWT'ers will have to Gach their NX, and that will
make WS/CS more common, and cheaper by then.

By that, I don't think making WS/CS being sold by a NPC would be a good thing.
Fixed prices, easy to gather, easier to make godly equips, which would make equips cheaper and easier to find.
And who will you sell all that equips to? If everyone can easily get the scrolls, more people will find it better to make themselves.

I think both you and momo are great examples of people who wasnt around for that long but still had made great gains through dedicated farming/bossing.
So... lets say i wanted to scroll a perfect weapon, in old source at the best farming spot you would make an avg of 80m/h ws were 300m each and we will go with the average number of ws to complete 7slots (70) thats 21b. At the best farming spot it would take about 260hours to farm that amount of money. That is 260h of actively playing the game, if you spend that much time playing the game theres no doubt that you would've already been able to buy all those 70ws during that time. Buying the ws is not at all time consuming, no there might not be anyone selling you 70ws at a time but it would not take you anywhere close to even 100hours of actively trading/smegaing/browsing forums/owling to get those ws.

I think that voting for nx is a bit ridiculous since basically it allows people to just go onto the website 30sec each day and by little to no effort get 8chances a day to get for example a perfect purple sleeve worth around 30b now i know that the chances any of the top prizes is really small but you can still make good amounts just by voting each day and not really putting any effort into actually playing the game.

Acquiring the meso to get just a few WS or chaos isn't a lot of hard work really, that is true. Anyone can do it if they dedicate themselves to selling leech for a week or so, if they just want to chaos something for fun. But for those of us who have a hundred billion net worth in gear, multiple perfected items, it does take a lot of hard work to get that much money. Many, many hours of farming and bossing for many, many months and for some people, years.

The only time it was difficult to find a WS or chaos to buy was early this year, with the original nerfed rate of WS and chaos received from gach. I don't know if you were around then, but I was and I clearly remember the widespread sentiment amongst those of us at endgame was how difficult it was to find the scrolls. Except for this period in early new source, it has always been easy to find WS and chaos to buy during the time I've been on the server, from the beginning of 2016 to now. Buying these scrolls has virtually never been an obstacle to anyone.

I'm really not sure why you think acquiring WS or chaos from buyers is difficult. Just a few days ago, I owled both WS and chaos for a cape I was chaosing and there's plenty in FM. Just owl them and you'll see there's no shortage of these scrolls on the market at all. If what you were thinking was that it's difficult for players to perfect their gear by buying, all at once, on average 70 WS to scroll all 7 slots of an item with 10% scrolls, there is almost no one I know of who has 21b (the old source equivalent to 70 WS, and therefore a perfect weapon) in pure meso. The only person I can think of who makes a point of storing his money in pure meso now rather than WS and chaos is Nessi, and that's because WS and chaos have such bad exchange rates and liquidity. In old source, everyone stored their excess cash in stacks of WS and chaos, because they were easily bought and sold for 300m each. When you reach the point you have billions of meso cash, you'll find that you'll just buy up WS and chaos too, because they're an asset pretty much required for above max meso trades. There's really no reason to have pure cash on hand when sellers for godly items want WS and chaos instead anyway. So you just buy a WS here, a chaos there, as you start getting near max meso on your character, and you throw your WS and chaos in storage until you need them. There's no point to having 10 meso mules all with 2b pure in their inventory and then looking to buy up all 70 of the WS on the market all at once when you could've just bought them over time for the real market price, instead of paying an unnecessary premium by buying them in bulk all at once.

Furthermore, I believe that with the WS and chaos NPC idea, this will not cause people to stop gaching at Shrine or NLC. The point is, the NPC idea is for an NPC to both sell and BUY these scrolls. It is a mechanism to make WS and chaos perfectly liquid and obtainable. If a new player gets a chaos from gaching at Shrine, they instantly would be able to liquidate their chaos for 300m cash. This benefits new players because they have absolute accessibility to cash when they get a WS or chaos, rather than waiting on a buyer who very well may try to exploit the new player's naivety and lowball offer on their scroll. As a result, the NPC idea in fact encourages gaching at Shrine and NLC because it guarantees a pure meso return on the scrolls one would receive.

Fixed prices completely stabilize WS and chaos prices and eliminates the insane inflation we have had in less than a year.

Fixed prices standardize above max meso trades because now everyone has WS and chaos valuations all over the place.

The NPC secures people's confidence once again in WS and chaos as liquid assets.

The NPC does not change how easy WS and chaos are to gather; they're readily available already and have been that way for the majority of the past two years.

The NPC makes godly equips on average take about 21b (70 WS at 300m each) to make. At current, it takes 28b to make a godly equip on average (70 WS at 400m each). 21b has never been easy. It took us months to make just one perfect equip. 28b just means it takes us longer, and it's not more difficult, just more tedious and more disheartening to poorer players who dream of achieving a perfect item of their own.

Equips are already cheaper and easier to find. That's the consequence of more new players working hard to earn their money, dedicating the hours to farming and grinding, and the influx of NX for gaching. But it wasn't even hard to find a perfect clean item to perfect to begin with in old source. Not really. 95 att Dragon Purple Sleeves are pretty common at endgame, and it already was the case last year. Same goes for 145 att Dragon Shiner Bows, 146 att Stonetooth Swords, etc. The NPC idea doesn't even affect the frequency of the perfect cleans of these items on the market, since it purely just makes WS and chaos easily accessible.

So now the question is: why is it a bad thing to enable people who have put in the time and effort to get the meso to buy the WS and chaos required to scroll the items they have already acquired?

You ask who will we sell all our perfect equips to, that if "everyone can easily get the scrolls, more people will find it better to make themselves." This is incorrect. Buying a perfect item that has already been scrolled is cheaper than if you had bought a perfect clean of that item and scrolled all the slots yourself. When you get to the point where you scroll your own gear, all 7 slots with WS 10% scrolls, you're going to find that you will lose billions and billions on having bad luck and needing far more than the 70 WS average. Hampa needed 100 something WS for his gun. I needed 80 something WS for a 5 slot BWG, when I should've only needed 50 WS on average. You're going to realize that you'll have saved 10 WS and you'll have a scrolling session for your item, expecting to pass at least 1 more slot, and all ten will fail. 3b old source or 4b new source, gone. This is why there is a market for people who want to buy perfect scrolled items in the first place. Aside from all the RWTers who want godly things to sell for real money, buying perfectly scrolled items is just cheaper. The only reason to scroll your own gear is because you want to have the achievement of doing it yourself, and there is a lot of sentimentality in scrolling your own gear from start to finish, even putting a tag on it sometimes to commemorate the achievement.

I think when you reach endgame and have the billions of meso the top players have, you'll see that the NPC idea is healthy for the economy in that it provides the currency you'll need for godly item trades and it provides the safe, guaranteed asset by which you can store your wealth without fear of the WS you bought for 450m being valued by someone at 380m, which means 70m of your money just went to waste. Making WS and chaos absolutely available doesn't impact anything actually because WS and chaos are already absolutely available. And if 300m each is too low, we can even agree to have WS and chaos bought and sold at 400m, today's rate. The main point is, it's necessary to stop the inflation of these scrolls and stabilize them and make them a liquid asset by which everyone knows the value of.

I think everyone here pretty much agreed on the fact that we need a powerful meso sink rather than just changing hair or tp. The cause of inflation is that ppl continously farm mesos while the serve is incapable of removing them. Therefore the mesos in the market keeps increasing thus inducing the inflation.
It is a great idea to make AP availble through NPC while increase the lvl requirement for purchase them using NX. 1) it is more friendly to new players who wish to hp wash a main non-mage character. Honestly speaking, you need to hp wash at end game stage to gain a desired experience. 2)It would prevent the vote-abuse to some extent. All lvl 15 mules would be useless except being fame mule or for storage. AP will be stable at a relatively low price (I would suggest 8m from the merchant). It is not worth the effort of the abusers to lvl up their mule and buy ap with NX.

It seems there are debates of having a NPC selling ws/cs.
The fear is of getting godly items too fast and too easy with unlimit supply of ws and cs. I agree with it to certain extent. There could be more godly items scrolled than the current situation if cs/ws is avalible through NPC. However, the supply of ws/cs is little problem comparing to making the amount of mesos ( assuming you get mesos legally). It is the rate limiting step to make the mesos of purchasing ws/cs rather than finding a seller to buy them. With this powerful meso sink, the mesos will be more valuable than what they worth now. It is actually more friendly for new players to start with.

But the market is a complex system that there can be something we cannot predict. I would suggest that staying conservative and making progress step by step. We could start with having an AP reset merchant.~f11

I was thinking about it just now for a bit. On the NPC that buys / sells the WS / CS. Why not just make it only sell them? This leaves people with the excess mesos to make a choice. Forever destroy 300-350m from the server, or maintain those mesos in case there are other niceties they would like to buy. This way people are unable to exploit duping them at a large extent and then turning them back into pure mesos and flooding the server. There will still be a market for players to sell for the old source rates, but if you have the mesos, you can dump them into bringing the scrolls into the server.

There are some wonderfully elaborated upon ideas written in here. I really hope that they get the thought and attention deserved. The economy does need a way to fix itself, and intervention seems to be the best solution. Letting it attempt to fix itself or giving gentle pushes for the economy to stabilize aren't sufficient. We need something PUT into place.

I agree with the npc selling AP resets being great idea, and perhaps even removing them from cs entirely, this would be a huge meso sink, a much needed one. (Plus if ap resets were to be available only from an npc this would kill the vote abusers selling them)

Tho i do not feel that they should be available for any less than what they are currently selling at. Mainly for the fact that i do not feel washing should be something "easy", now i get that it is easy already, but if the npc was to sell them at a fixed price of 5m each, it would be exceptionally easy. Basically what i am saying that in my opinion the cost of washing SHOULD stay the same.

I'm not in favor of adding an npc that is selling ws/cs at a fixed price though. If a new meso sink is implemented, i feel that it would be best to start off with the ap resets.

For the stores, They should expire, but they should be available for purchase with meso, lets say 30m/week or so.

Just My 2 cents. Peace :)

We are definitely reading everything said here (at least I am) & have to say that it isn't as easy as saying "yep, just slap that into the game, that'll work" in terms of anything said. I myself am saving up a stupid amount of White Scrolls & am probably the first person that would love to see the price go down but I don't quite see how putting an NPC in to sell them would fix anything other than making them readily available. I think we need to wait for other important factors to come into the game like boss NX drops (including being able to exchange ones people currently have), Horn Tail, & maybe even making them more common than they already are. I think we need to take small steps to fixing the issue rather than jumping the gun & doing something too drastic to the point of no return. I can't fathom how painful it would be for any of the more elite players that have stockpiles of CS or WS in their storages / inventories to only drop by 100 ~ 150m each because we decided to throw them into an NPC.
