My only complaint with the VH is that with the ease of WS, those extra slots are a shoe in for people who can afford it. That's not necessarily unfair (they have the money afterall), but to a degree a PERFECT weapon should have a sense of luck to it. Would it be completely off base to suggest 2/9 total possible slots (on a normal 7 slot weapon) be unprotectable by WS? Land 2 30's then WS the rest, or risk the last 2 slots on a current perf weapon with 30's? I feel like that would once again put truly perfect weapons in a class of their own that has since mostly disappeared in the last year-ish. I understand this would also make perf-perf weapons SUPER expensive, but I think it would really mellow out the market of the current perfect weapons as a more...base-line level compared to lesser and greater versions of themselves (138 att sparta (6/7 slots landed (or 9 with VH) landed vs 153 att sparta which is all 9 slots) I feel like this would be a somewhat... more fair compromise to the issue of godly weapons and giving VH a more realistic place in the world. edit: to tie it back around, a couple slots of weapons that can't be WS... it should lower the demand a bit compared to leaving it where VH can add slots and you could just WS the slots.
In response to this, what about the idea of making a special ws scroll sold from the same npc as VH. These scrolls can only be used after the weapon is +7( I assume that is the only way to make the rule possible code wise). Or if it's easier than that just make it only VH WS can work with VH slots. This way current end game users have another goal to farm, it will still be unique, and more meso sink. Make these so that they are more expensive than ws(as in the price is always current was price +20%), so that people cannot just trade current was one for one. Even go a step further if needed and make them require special 10% scrolls. This creates a completely new mesos sink economy separated from the current economy that only affects end game users( which in reality are the hardcore farmers and thus those that make the meso income so much higher. They also are the main demand for ws)
Ok, so, I think almost everyone has missed the idea behind my suggestion so I'll try to explain it a bit better. The hammers were just what I based it off of because they were all I could think of at the time, any item that isn't in the game yet but is also very useful (Meso sell price doesn't matter) does the exact same job as the hammers. The main reason for making the item only obtainable from a vendor & then untradable after you've bought it is to give power to mesos as a currency so they have a floor of which the value of the meso can never truly go below. Let's say instead of a hammer it was 30m for 30 minutes 1.5x exp coupons, if a shop sold this item, mesos could never devalue to below 30m=30 minutes of 1.5x exp. It's the exact same theory as a shop selling WS except without screwing up the economy. If this vendor sold 1 WS for 400m, mesos are officially 400m for 1 WS and they can never go lower than that. The whole purpose of the shop is to set up things that only mesos can buy in order to set a floor on the meso price, the meso sink is just a result of how everything works out, so this helps the meso economy two ways. First with the meso sink, and second with enforcing a minimum that mesos can devalue to, which is much more impactful and important.
understood. but the problem maybe is not the floor, but the cap of ws/cs since we are talking about inflation if we can exchange lets say: 400m for 1 ws and make those untradable, it will definitely cap the price of ws, but will cause other issues.. like price distortion for rest of game economy i actually think 30% scrolls are good meso sinks, since exploded items just kill all the meso spent on it. but with ws and 10% its not so effective anymore. plus, the chances of getting perf clean weapon/items are really SUPER low, so people basically avoid 30% on those, and really discourages use of 30% (i.e. discourage use of meso sink).
Your idea is absolutely correct. We do need something to fix mesos actual value. But I doubt about hammers can do it. We need something can work on most players such as WS or coupons, these can make them become secondary currency. I believe you are very close to making this work. Just adding a fixed NPC value can fix the value of the secondary currency. For example, make WS(or coupons or anything that attract to all level of players and consumable) purchasable form NPC for 450m and can sell to NPC for 400m. This can fix the meso actual value and stop people banking WS for currency.
Can we buy eye of fires instead? Seems harmless, and clearly there will be a huge demand for this. Doesn't really break anything. 1 EOF at about 10m is >3 owls and 5 smegas
I think it is too cheap as the secondary currency. I think we need something at least 200m and maybe below 800m.
20 EOFs at once Just kidding, but seriously EOFs seem to be a viable option of a mesos sink - it will forever be in demand
The only problem with using WS is that it will effect the economy in unknown ways which is why I tried to stick with items that aren't obtainable. Other possibilities could be 1.5x exp coupons that last 30 minutes for 30m or so. Teleport rocks (After they're fixed), for some 5m each or something.
No matter what changes are made, there is always an unknown change. I believe you are in right track. If you not happy with WS, just try to think something has the similar property with WS: 1. expensive enough so it can be used as the secondary currency. 2. consumable and attract for all players. 3. demand is large enough. REMEMBER, no matter what new items are made or what changes are made with current item, there will be always an effect in the economy. If you don't affect the economy, you can't fix anything.
bringing in pink bean would help the white scroll situation since its the only mob that drops it, also bringing in gms drop tables for cs would help, even if it only means they are obtainable to get through more bosses, not the lower lvl mobs like cold eye and such
