Nice to meet you Maple Royals forumers, for those of you who don't know me (that one girl who talks through emotes and chalkboard and looks like popstar Ahri) my name is Fuse and I'm a 125ish Shadower. First off, I love pre-bigbang, the bigbang patch in GMS made the game too complicated and honestly changed the whole feel of Maplestory, the one I grew up with. Second, I love Shadowers! They have so much survivablity thrown into them that dying is next to impossible. However, third. . . Shadowers and Pre-BigBang do not mesh well. The one good thing that came from BigBang, was that it gave Shadowers much more to work with and fixed much of what made them unable to work with. Flash jump and shadower partner was nice, but to be honest, Shadowers didn't even need that. What made all the Shadowers in GMS happy after BigBang was boomerang step. In Pre-BigBang, Shadowers cannot use Boomerang Step on a small-medium sized platform. The platform has to be large enough to support the shadower's boomerang step. This is because Shadowers cannot use Boomerang Step on ledges unless they stand back far enough. In Pre-BigBang, Shadowers cannot use Boomerang Step on somewhat steep slopes. This one isn't that big of an issue, but it would be nice to be able to use it on a slope. In Pre-BigBang, Shadowers cannot use Boomerang Step through a wall. This is another big issue because most people pin bosses to the side of the screen or a wall. When this happens, the Shadower can no longer use boomerang step unless they space themselves far away. In Pre-BigBang, Shadower's Boomerang step has a 2.5 second cooldown between usage. This is a very big problem in conjunction with the fact that shadowers have to space against pinned monsters or stay far back enough on ledges to boomerang step. During that 2.5 seconds of not being able to boomerang step again, most shadowers like to toss in a savage blow or an assassinate, however, because they have to stand so far away once the monster is pinned or having to stand far away just to boomerang step on a ledge, it means the shadower can no longer do that and is forced to just use boomerang step over and over while looking awkward standing still for 2.5 seconds per use. In Pre-BigBang, Shadowers cannot use Boomerang Step while jumping unless they time both commands perfectly. Allowing Shadowers to boomerang step mid jump made them more flexible and perform better in places with platforms and most importantly aqua road. This honestly just ups the fun factor for shadowers! And for those of you who hate walls of text, here's a TLR version of this! TLR: More than half the bosses in Maple are fought pinned or on platforms. Shadowers cannot boomerang step on platforms or when a boss is pinned without looking awkward standing still for more than half the time. If there aren't any plans to make Shadowers more flexible it's fine! I personally still love Shadowers, though they may not be great Pre-BigBang, they're still fun
I completely agree dude. Bstep should get fixed. Assassinate/Bstep combo would work perfectly with a platform fix (You could just pin BF and go to town on em). The mid-jump idea isn't so great (that was implemented in BB). Where is the control and fun in that? That being said, as much as I would LOVE to be able to Bstep off a platform, I doubt something will actually be done about this.
Even a level 200 shadower with the best gear would struggle so hard against Zakum because they can't hit two of the top arms with anything but savage blow. Against the middle arms they would just be using boomerang step, count to 3 in their head, boomerang step again. It's just so awkward! As of now I'm mostly just a smoke shell mule in my runs, useful once every 10 minutes Q.Q I love Shadowers, but at the same time I'd like to be useful to my friends and help make our runs faster. If a 4th job class is still using a second job skill to deal the most damage to a boss, isn't that a problem?
Pinning is possible for e.g. BF, but hard. Zakum is extremely hard too. I'd like to see a change like this for sure, it would help make Shadowers a more viable bosser, for which they are made. Btw, Bstep delay is 2 seconds (with booster). It's 2.25(?) without booster. Also, staff planned to implement a v86 skill table to balance the jobs, which will benefit Shadowers a lot, but still wouldn't fix the annoying problem you described... :c
There are currently no plans to make changes to the current skill table. To be honest, I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say. What is the problem, besides Boomerang Step's cooldown? That Boomerang Step can only attack horizontally?
Uhh, Joel... Look at this. Second of all, the problem is that you can't use Bstep at the end of platforms or close to walls, making it very hard to kill mobs close to a wall or off a platform, which is needed at most bosses.
I'll make a video filled with a bunch of fancy shadower techs and some of the problems with boomerang step.

I thought it was agreed they would be buffed with the v86 skill updates 8( Shadowers by far have the safest lyfe.
I also wish pets didn't loot our pickpocket mesos, using meso explode and pickpocket makes grinding a bit more "fun"
