    Hey

Would not be comfortable and safe for the server to limit the time between smegas? something like <You just can send 1 smega every 1 or 5 minutes>
I know we have a command for that (~togglesmegas)
but there are also people who want to read smegas and some people abuse that sending or using it like a chat...

This may be a good idea. I also don't agree that super megaphones should be used for chatting to each other. There are other means to do that. I would suggest a 60sec interval.

    Looking for feedback...

I don't feel particularly strongly about this, but a 60-second delay might be worth testing out. Might it also be worth decreasing the drop rate of Smegas slightly?

I don't think that SMEGAs drop that often to begin with. Or maybe I'm just striking the wrong mobs :p

I do like the idea of a time limit between SMEGAs though...

I barely ever get smega drops as it is... D: I got like 20 from low level mobs, but 15+ levels at newts and not a single one still.

You've expressed my one reservation about the 60-second delay between Smegas - the problem of trying to smega a message that just won't fit in one Smega.

I will willingly admit to having made a bad suggestion here. It probably feels higher to me because I almost never use Smegas and they just pile up and pile up! =)

What about 3 smegas per 180 seconds?

So you can spam 3 lines if you need to get a longer message out - however once the third one is out you need to wait 3 minutes.

As everyone's mentioned you don't need to chat via smega so you really shouldn't need to write anything further for at least 3 minutes anyway. If someone wants to contact you after reading it they can whisper you.

Not sure if this is possible to implement though, just throwing ideas out there.

What about a smega that allows you to send 3 lines at once, having a 10 minute delay in between.

The problem with said idea, ' triple smegas ' with 3 minutes is that there are approximately 300 people online, what if lets say 50 people start using the smegas with only a 3 minute delay in between, that'd be impossible to read.
Not to mention 10 friends doing such a thing, lol.

I fail to see the problem with smegas though, I think the smega conversations are hilarious and add a funny factor to the grinding thing, I've never seen so much spam with smegas so I really dont see the problem.

    Anyone? :D

This is a terrible idea imo. Smegas should be free to use, and abuse should be taken care of by GMs. That's, I believe, one of the tasks a GM has right? To take care of abuse?

This is the exact same argument that teenagers use to justify throwing all their s**t on the ground in the hallways at school. "Oh, it's the janitor's job to clean it up." While that is true, it also is completely rude.

My point is that the staff shouldn't have to deal with things that could otherwise be limited.

I agree with making it once every 60 seconds, that isn't too bad of a wait. As for messages being too long, you can try and shorten them to short hand.

    For example:

Looking for leech at wolf spiders, I am willing to pay for multiple levels! (I think this already fits, but you get the point)

LF> WS Leech, willing to pay

No, this is the argument that you use to justify throwing garbage in a public trash can, understanding that there's someone there to take care of it when it gets too full.

Yes, if someone is really and truly abusing smegas and going through dozens of them in a minute or two, that deserves some GM action. Personally though, I find the occasional smega banter, whether I'm participating in it or not (though I admit, I often am) to be some of the most fun times I have on royals, and I would hate to see anything done that removes or even limits that.

I can see people having a problem with what mutespitter did the other day. The Gm's took appropriate action for it. But short of that, if you don't want to see the smega chatter, turn them off. An action like this would really restrict them to just B>, S>, LF> HS, LF> leech, and "zak run in XX minutes" when right now they're much more than that.

About the janitor thing.. I don't know what you're talking about with public trash cans. This is an actual argument people use to justify littering, saying it is someone's job to pick it up, or you are "helping them keep their job."

Anyway, I find the smega banter funny too from time to time, but a one minute per smega is not going to ruin that. One minute is not a long time. Trust me, take a minute to count to 60. Jeez, that was like.. only a minute! Not even that long! (small joke <~)

The one minute per smega will just limit smega spam, which on the other hand, is not funny and frankly annoying.

One minute is a lot more time than you'd think when trying to smega, go ahead, try it. When I smega for Echo in the FM I say "Echo in two minutes" etc, and in that time I get sooo many impatient people telling me to echo now when it hasn't even been one minute.

I like the 3 smega's in a certain time frame, maybe 90 seconds, but overall I'm against putting a limit on smega's. If someone is spamming, report them, but that doesn't happen all that much. If people are just having fun in smega (I've met many very nice people through smegaing) who are you to ruin it for them?

I don't think that's the same way of reasoning.

I realize this response may be kind of late... To be honest i don't really like the idea of a cool down time for smegas. If people really do think that smegas are degrading the feel of the game, maybe the drop rate for them could be reduced. But in my opinion I think the rate of smega use is good at this time, never really had a problem with it. I think that the ~togglesmega option is a pretty good thing to use if you dont want to see someones conversation on the chat feed, they normally dont last terribly long so you can turn them back on in a minute or so... just my ten cents

I'd like to add that the drop rate WAS reduced recently.
