With the White EXP system gone, i hereby give a suggestion that WILL definitely be better. Basically a DPS Chart AddOn that calculates and display the TOTAL DAMAGE DONE by each party member the moment the BOSS FIGHT starts! A Small Box that displays 1,2,3.. as the rankings of the DPS done by the team. Please hear me out, this way, it not just motivates the player to get stronger, it makes the game more fun while keeping its nostalgia. ALSO, This make it more worthwhile spending so much time making their equipments. MAKE THIS ONE OF THE REWARDS FOR THE HARDWORK! Like what GodlyBread said in another post about white exp, "Many players worked really hard for their equipment/weapons" and he talked about the competitive spirit is one of the key components that satisfy the players. Why would it be needed if the staff has already confirmed white exp would work as it did on old source eventually ?
Well this suggestion essentially seems like white exp on crack. More comprehensive damage data, bragging rights, etc? That being said, I'm personally skeptical about implementing additional features into bosses when there are so many disconnection issues as is.
LOL tbh not really, since I've never bossed. I just know people disconnect a lot during bosses (hence that weird graphic settings trick people do) and some even tend to be server-sided (hence all the rewarp requests).
Get some recount going on hahaha It could be interesting, however, it could also create problems that don't exist at the moment such as people requesting X+ DPS. This makes more sense in games that require a bit more skill to play than Maple Story, in World of Warcraft for example I always aimed to be on the top of DPS chart cause that actually shows you're skilled playing your character not that you're skilled at holding down one button..
I feel like every party knows approximately where everyone stands in terms of dps according to their class / familiar with their gear etc . I also think that a chart would be a bit messy , however , a ~dpm or ~dps command could be more aesthetic and serve the same cause , everyone could compare their numbers and stuff , but as far as I know something similar was rejected in the past , as the game already has too many commands .
Consequence? Players who are new will usually be last in standings. More seasoned players who are very particular about other players' range, you're only going to note down that this player has low damage and therefore avoid adding him into your future boss expeditions because you got a sense of how insignificant of a damage dealer they are. With that, their growth curve will not grow as much, even if it might be a minute difference. Damage aside, now classes. Likewise, players who are particular about their party member's range will start avoiding certain classes, and put them low on the priority list. Furthermore, those who might have intentions of playing said class will have the impression that it's bad, therefore changing your intentions just because of a damage chart. Not only will the rich-poor gap blatantly appear on your screen, but the unnecessary feeling of superiority and inferiority could make boss runs less of an expedition and more of a competition. I could be just thinking too much. Lel
yes you are!. then people that take advantage of good teams and slack off themselves during the boss runs? so yea it goes either way. this DPS Chart is a MUST to have!
Yes I would love to see another game get ruined by damage meters and then next stage gear score and achievements ! ! Can't wait to further extend the list of requirements to join a party for a boss that has no mechanics anyway: Hello sir what's your class and level? and range? and link to your mapleroyals damage logs? and equipped item level? and horntail ahead of the curve achievement? and pq+ score? kms
