Hi everyone. I just started Maple Royals and I wanted to know your opinion on the best starter class. I just started playing so I don't have any funding or experience with this server (I haven't played Maplestory since pre- Big Bang). What would the best class be for getting funded/ being accepted in late game bosses, etc. I was going to make a Night Lord, but I heard something about HP washing, and it seemed expensive/complicated so I don't think I'm going to bother until later down the line.
bishop, easiest class to start off with, requires minimal funded accepted into pretty much every boss, and can start making money right at 120 from low level leech
This, if you wish to accumulate a lot of wealth. You can also consider a low dex fighter/page as they do not require HP washing either and you can get to bossing content relatively soon without massive funding.
NL is also a pretty easy starter class. You won't be able to do a huge amount of hp washing, but you will survive almost everything except bosses like anega/bf which are not supposed to hit you and ht/toad... which well you won't survive on your starter nl. Has good amount of damage with low funding.
I really recomend you start with a Fire mage since meteore shower its pretty cheap atm. Also keep in mind a lot mobs are weakness to fire and if you wan't to make a HSmule, you can sell leech at the future : ) A lot of peole say bishop, but already bishop's consider a funded class. You need at least gene 20 (1.2b) to do 1 hit some populars maps.
Bishop, I/L, F/P - Boring (imo), but nice moneymakers. I/L and F/P are completely useless for anything but mindless grinding. While a Bishop is must in any bossrun, but also often brought only as mules. Hero & DrK - More fun, but less money If Hero or DrK, add to your base INT so that you'll have 50 by the time you hit level 50. That should be sufficient for you to reach 30k with HB by lvl 140~150, at the expense of having to level up with slightly lower damage.
I would highly recommend I/L or DrK as a first character. I/L has good mobility and mobbing second job, and 4th job is pretty mindless grinding. Nonetheless leveling is easy and isn't too boring, meaning you can focus on making friends, getting to know people, becoming familiar with how things work, etc. DrK's are relevant in all jobs and don't really require HP washing to boss. Plus, levels 70+ are more fun than most characters. Bishop works too, but personally, when I first started 2 years ago, I quit at level 76 cleric because I was poor and spamming heal to grind for hours was slow and painful. But something I like to say: You trade the most boring and tedious levels 30-85 for the fastest levels 86-120, and from then onward is bossing, grinding, and money making.
It's the class that is the most important to wash to boss properly. The reason I consider it a good starter is because it's also the class that is cheapest to wash
It seems like the general consensus is that bishop would be the safest/best route to go first. I was taking a look at Bella's guide for Bishops and saw that they suggested a lukless build. Would you guys suggest this as the best thing for a starter? I wouldn't even know how to go about getting lukless equipment.
Yeah lukless is the way to go. You might be wearing your beginner clothes for a while but it's still better than wasting points in luk.
Yes, lukless build is the way to go. Dont worry to much about the gear at the start, you can farm your weapon pretty easy (maple Staff lvl 35) and maple (lama Staff lvl 43) wich you will be using till lvl 64. Later one when you made some funding you want to get common intgear that you can wear to wash your nl. I would get a bathrobe>hat>earring>glove>wand>cape. After that a int racc mask and Lastly shield.
50 base INT is sufficient for Hero to reach 30k hp by lvl 150 if you get z helm at lvl 50. 4 base INT is sufficient for Dark Knight to reach 18750 hp (30k with hb) by lvl 14x if you have z helm by lvl 50. Dark knight was my very first character on maple royals. Hit 18750 HP with 0 funding and with 4 base dex and int. Crusader, IMO, is really painful at 3rd job. Slash blast to lvl 120. Dragon knight however, IMO, is the strongest unfunded 3rd job class, and still really strong at 4th job with practice on hp control. Can't go wrong with bishop, but it's an acquire taste if you want to main it. They can do everything tho. Arch mages, recommend going fire poison if unfunded. FP is the fastest grinding class to reach 4th job, and IMO dragon knight is the 2nd fastest. FP is strong and cheap, but handicapped at end game (Oblivion) compared to IL. Petri leech is still good and the most common leech tho so you'll never have to worry about finding people buying leech. Down side is you'll have to make a lvl 81~84 HS mule, and you can't sell ULU1 leech because lvl 80+ will get exp (your hs mule will level up) Thief and bowman class are fun, but expensive. You'll need to have a lot of patient if you want to make one as your first character. People have done it. Not impossible, but it will be a long and slow journey if you want to hp wash and don't want to remake later.
DO NOT make a nightlord with low funds. nightlords benefit the most out of every class from funding as attack gear gives them the most range increase due to their weapon attack modifier. the best class thats not a mage that does the best with less than 10b funding is any warrior class or bucc
Make whatever you feel like playing the most mate. If you're unfamiliar with HP washing and that's the only reason you don't want to make a night lord I suggest you just ignore HP washing for now. Get into the game, enjoy it for what it is. You can always create new characters later and it only gets easier to level up, the more wealthy you get.
You don’t need to 1-hit to Petris and such to sell leech, there are also places like GS2 and Chronos where people buy leech. Monsters drop all the level 35, 43 and 64 Maple Weapons, and 60% scrolls for Staff and Wand are both cheap. Scrolls for overalls and capes might be a bit more expensive, but you’ll manage to make the mesos if you loot everything and NPC bad stuff (note: items that drop that are blue or purple with ca. +5 a stat as a low leveled equipment can be sold in FM, as it might be a rare drop, as this server allows for drops with higher stats from mobs at a low rate).
I would say that the biggest issue with starting a NL without funding is that too be viable "lategame" you need to wash, which is hard with no funds.
That's the problem.. you will get levels when you still sell some low level leech. Son or later you going to be 140+ and you will not abble to sell low level anymore.
