Feel free to believe that, just don't tell new players to do it because it simply doesn't work that way. You can be poor, but LUKless will still be the best option. Having said that, if you like to farm more diverse equipment - being a LUKmage isn't all bad, it just requires more work for higher damage
4 base INT + (hopefully) 16 INT from a Z helm = 2 MP per level up, 2 levels ups = 1 wash. level 140-50 (z helm), = 90 levels. 90 levels / 2 = 45 washes. 45 washes @ about 55 HP per wash means with that, you'd get about 2.4k extra HP. If you have 40 INT at level up (easy with a semi okay robe, helm, wand or star), you'll have about 5k by 140. Remember this is on top of natural gains, which, if we're generous with rounding here (very generous, assuming warrior gains every level from 1), you'll have about 8k HP by 140, which means you need 10k for HB 30k 10k HP from washes means you need ABOUT 181 washes in 90 levels. You want 2 washes per level, or 8 extra MP per level up, which puts you in the 80 INT at level. Mind you, this also ignores potential MP gains at job advancement (do Drk get that? Pallys do). VERY ROUGH ESTIMATES. That said, VERY doable with good int gear, you can have base 4 INT Edit: OP, DrK are "easier" to wash because they get HB, they dont need to wash as much for 30k with HB, HOWEVER, you need to wash more than a hero or pally (more being, it;s more essentially because of beserk), something to keep in mind.
I think he means, you don't need billions. You can save the NX and buy the AP resets from the CS yourself, you can farm scrolls and scroll cheap wands, robes, etc. You don't need to self leech or buy leech like you do with a rogue/bowman. Not to mention, one lucky gach run and you can afford like half of the stuff you need gear wise. I think you're taking what he said a tab bit too literally
Let's not forget what this is. It's a new player asking for help to choose his starter class. Leaving it up to guesses isn't what the person is asking for. I gave valid information which he in return felt like attempting to correct with misinformation, that's it
Just some healthy forum discussion You're both right, and you're probably more right if OP is as new as it sounds, my point was just an attempt to say it's not impossible. If OP reads up on the MP/HP washing guide, DrK guide, and is frugal with his mesos/NX spending he might be able to do what @OverReact said. Again, I don't think funding means literally never having money, just not using a second character to generate the mesos. OP could potentially be a whiz at merching and make billions. That said, I wouldn't aim for the stars with that first character. Get your feet wet, make what sounds interesting to you. He'll probably make HS mule/AM or a bishop at some point because it's great for self funding. He can always learn, make mistakes, and come back after fucking up his firs character and still go strong with a new character later down the road. @OutCognito , I think the general consensus is making a mage first. You really can't go wrong. Bishops cost more to skillbook than mages, but both are equally good at farming/self leeching, you might just need to make a HS mule later down the road (You wouldnt need one till 120+ and you want to self leech really anyways, cause if you're just leveling, theres allllways a priest looking to HS you. I think you should choose what you like though, there's 5 classes and many branches to each, and it's going to take some trial and error.
I'd say go hero. Yes crusader is imo the most boring 3rd job, but hero is just boss. Don't need to go wash brandish is super legit. Good at bossing. Can solo almost everything. A lot of swords on the market look cool as well with orbs floating around you
