I dunno man. I've had a lot of people mention they can only afford 1-2 hour leech it seems like most new players are just leeching (leechstory btw). With almost everyone leeching over actually training it's hard af to find parties too, even through smega's I could barely find a partner to train with on my priest going from 70 to 120. To put it into perspective being 'new' My first character, a bishop now at 121. Through 70-120 I found a party-partner 3 times in TOTAL through these levels, outside of PQing(PQing is active, at least) I had two options; solo->slow or leech->fast and I can do other crap at the pc thanks to voting for nx and getting tons of meso through gach saved up. I even used quite a bit of smega's to find partners to no avail. Not true. Like someone else mentioned I never sold an AP reset and I always had MILLIONS of mesos to spend on potions leveling up. The meso rate is 4x for crying out loud it's beyond easy to get money as a new player. I wish this server had 1-2x droprates from the start 4x is just way too much for a server that want's to be a -serious- server having 3x exp rate. Too late to change it now though just messes with new people and giving oldtimers a big big advantage. A hardcore 2nd world is an interesting option for the future though, as it's not much you can do to fix the current royals world. Everything just feels too easy and outside of PQing everyone just leeches until they can boss, not really the nostalgia people expect when joining this server. The server has many good things going for it alongside a great staff and a community but it has many flaws at the same time that I feel should be shown some light. This is a great way of looking at this, and I completely agree with you. Personally I would like to see ap resets being sold this way sitting at 15-20 to even further help the money sink as hp washing isn't exactly mandatory but this may be an unpopular opinion here.
Not everyone leeches or PQs though, it's their story (leechstory) as you put it. Other people leeching is their own choice. Lack of training partners, I honestly don't think that's likely to change (there's only 800-1.2k people online as it is, it's a matter of numbers not because everyone is leeching. Once you have HS though, no priest will have trouble finding a party. The issue with the rate is seperate though, because if we cut the rate by 1/2 or 1/3, everything will just adjust accordingly. A WS or CS or leech is still worth the same amount to the person, it's just the value of the mesos in relation to the overall server amount, that changes. AP resets (bringing it back) are 100% internal. They don't affect level, they don't affect items.
That's fair. I didn't mean for things I said to sound as if everyone leeches literally. That's sort of the feeling I got as a new player leveling up the bish though to some extent. I did find the opportunity to free-leech with HS at petri-levels but just for high level mages 1-2 hitting em that wanted HS. But I also understand that a lot of the online count have been around for a year, two or three already so it's understandable that finding training partners are scarce (since it's likely for them to leech an alt vs leveling if they are rich, etcetc)
They should just increase the hp per level for the dps classes. I can't be the only one thinking how stupid it is to pretty much be obligated to HP wash. People can't play the class they want right off the bat.
As long as they increase it for the warriors too. Because what's the point of playing a warrior if we no longer have more HP than the dps classes?
Back in gms it all started with everyone having high HP. Then high speed. Then flash jump. Now you know...
That's because in GMS we had lots of Dragon Knights...DK's were abundant! HP really was a non-issue. Royals doesn't have many DK's unfortunately which forces many of us to HP wash. I reckon we had more DK's before new source lol. Makes me wanna make one... I don't think HP washing takes away from the nostalgia given our demographic. Anyhow, so what's happening now? Any inputs from staff? Or is the general consensus to simply wait it out?
The issue is not the lack of Dark Knights on the server. Many people choose to hp wash so they do not have to rely on another person to be able to survive in a boss fight.
All new players started their first char without hp washing and lived with it, and only wash their second char when they have the required mesos/ap resets (either through saving up urself or buying when available even when they are scarce). This is how i did it, and how so many of other have done it, so why should new players now be given the privilege of being able to wash instantly just because they have the funds. As the principle of supply and demand goes, if you are in need of ap resets, offer a higher price of 12-14m, surely you'll get some. I myself holds roughly 300 ap resets, and is willing to let go if the price is right, as the current market price of 12m is already tempting to let go, surely a higher price will push more patient players to sell off their resets. And as said, HP washing is not NECESSARY, it doesnt give u access to new content, just give u easier time while playing. Many players who have not washed have also been able to HT with the help of a DrK. There are also a lot of DrK out there, it just takes some effort. So your option here is to either put effort in: 1. Finding people willing to sell ap resets; 2. Finding a Drk that's willing to boss with you in HT(which u do not need that frequently). ____ The current price of 12m is inflated, true, because of the lack of HT, so if you are patient enough, the price of AP resets will drop once HT comes out. Consider the consequence of selling AP resets through NPC, trillions of mesos will be sunk and there will be the lack of mesos in the market, which will have adverse effect on the economy as a whole. If the main purpose of selling AP resets through NPC is to sink mesos, then they can consider upping the tax rate or lowering mesos obtained from NPC-ing items, both of which will already have big impact on supply and demand of mesos.
I feel like hp washing does give u access to new content in some cases. Look at the new boss castellan toad. From what I seen, that boss hits about 12k. There is no way for classes like unwashed BM or NL to survive that even with HB at a very high level, unless you HP wash.
As such, such bosses are not meant to be defeated by ranged attker as how they have been only be defeated by mostly melee jobs, (atleast that's how things were in my old MapleStory, while some ranged would forgo some of their dmg+ eqs for godly hp eqs). Such as how some bosses are meant for range but no melee, they all serve a purpose until post-BB. As for pink bean, the likely ultimate end game boss, NLs and Archers can proceed with it with HB w/o HP washing, it isnt a problem back then, it will not be a problem now.
So what you're trying to say is you cant play any class you want and do all content? You have to play warrior or melee dps to do all content of this game? but hp washing is not necessary? Talking about pink bean, Even if you had godly hp gear and hb you wouldn't get the hp needed to do pink bean. Pink bean requires about 11.5k hp WITH HB. So an unwashed nl or bm would need about 8k hp extra from gear+hb(not sure about bm's but nls have about 4k hp at bossing levels) Doesn't really matter though, pink bean probably wont be released in this server anyway.
A very good example, warrior are not meant to att the boss in showa. No one job can access everything. What HP washing gives is to make life easier. They still need HB, except for few who reaches 30k hp. If u die in pink bean, u get resurrected in the same map anyway. And YES, you cant play any class you want and do all content, that's the purpose of this game, for each jobs to hv their role and for players of different jobs and roles to minggle or other wise. HP washing here is still expensive, so not many can go 30k, thus, HP washing here still only makes it easier for people, not to the extent of allowing all player to reach 30k hp and only make NLs and Archers, people still rely on HB for more safety, rely on warrior to tank, etc. Big Bang and Chaos update is meant to remove this idea, so ALL JOB CAN ACCESS ALL CONTENT, so what u want can be found in Big Bang and Chaos updated server.
Wrong, hp washing is a mechanic of the core game, which allows all classes to access all content of the game. Nobody needs to wash to 30k, its unnecessary. What people are talking about is not being able to do content due to a lack of hp, which requires about 7.6-12k(min)(requires washing). By the way, tanking in maplestory doesn't exist. Iv never seen anybody tank any bosses. Are you sure you have the right game?
Maybe we just have different interpretation of the core of the game mechanics. To me it means everybody play their role, to you it means everybody can play all roles. A role may mean being able to excel at something while being inferior or unavailable to do something, but is supplemented by others, or it may mean otherwise as interpreted by you. Back in my maple days, we would definitely have a warrior to tank, as in, to lure and pin a boss/mon to a point so that the boss/mob stays there while the warrior continuously takes dmg. Just as we are having hero to take damage from HT now. If everybody can wash and its cheap, somehow people can wash to 30k, we would have shadowers to tank instead of heroes. And yes, there are a few who do wash to 30k, its necessary to access all content of the game without relying on DrK. HP washing diminishes the demand for warriors, as ranged attkers are now more able to stay alive. ( HT used to consist of higher warrior:non-warrior ratio than there are now in private servers due to HP washing, warrior serves as a backup in case the ranged attackers dies) I'm pretty sure that's not the core mechanic of the game to reduce the importance of warriors as what HP washing has caused.
