NOTE: before you read, if there are any current threads relating to these issues that are already or have been addressed, feel free to link me I will not be offended. There are still many things I have to learn about this game and this community.

I started royals in august and I'm a level 96 low dex sin. However it seems that basically, the only ways to make $$$ (at least at my lv) is from AP Resets/Gach or from selling leech on a Mage(BS).

    1. MONEY MAKING

The best money making method I've found thus far is grinding at coolies to NPC the equip drops and selling teeth in the fm. Depending on how focused I am, I can make 25m-35m hr. I've been thinking about selling cheap leech 5-10m hr to lazy/poor ppl to accelerate my meso/hr at coolies.. but after about 4-6 1 hr sessions at coolies over the past week or two, and as a 9x sin, the shit gets boring bruh. (Yeah I could make a BS and sell leech for a lot of $$$ but fuck that I hate playing mages and I think HS and leeching is stupid anyway, more so especially since it's one of the only ways to make money in this game)

I've spent time questing everywhere and I'm about ~260/800 for the quest specialist medal, so in the meantime I've been looking for new spots to grind, for fun, and to make mesos to fund my account(idrc about exp as long as it's not like 5% an hour lul). The only other place I can think of for drops is ulu1 or 2 for cravens and thief equips, but dps is too low to be able to kill enough of them to farm drops at a decent rate. I've even safespot trained at Newties and their drops aren't great. I've killed HH several times but got nothing yet(apparently nx drops are bugged so RIP), same w Captain Latanica but idek if he gives good drops but he gives good exp apparently (due to xp/hp ratio).

    1.1 My Longterm Analysis

So if I grind coolies (for example) for 5-10 hours a month, and vote every day for 30 days and sell AP resets at (lets just be conservative and say) 14m ea, I can make from around 1.0-1.2b. If I invest that money in White Scrolls so I can ws+10% for a perfect craven, it will approximately require between 15b-25b (or more) depending on my RNG.
That means it will take from ~13-30 months, depending on my spending habits, just for a the claw.

Although I do intend to play royals for the next several years in my life, that's just a stupid amount of time just for 1 maxed item IMO. Feel free to save me from my ignorance if I that analysis^ stems from an uncalibrated approach, if it's miscalculated, or is simply wrong or stupid for any other reason.. because my entire dilemma here is the fact that it's correct, and the fact that there is no way to escape MapleRoyals minimum wage.....
One of my favorite things about maple is investing time into an account and building the equip slots behind it, which should require an enormous amount of time from grinding & merching and it was never designed to be easy at all. But to me it seems that it's not even that, it's merely just a waiting game, hardly anything more or less, which troubles me a bit.

    1.2 The Voting Problem

Lastly, might I add, that I believe most people are multi-voting. Just about 90% of the player base (at least that i've interacted with) has developed an alternate account(s) for a variety of reasons: fm mules, selling leech, buff mules, or simply because some people just want to play another class. All which are normal and it's beside the point whether I have a problem with it or not.
But in the long term, it puts the game's economy at a disadvantage especially for the players who follow the rule 1:1 vote/household ratio.
I have a level 15 FM mule that I quit. I've voted on it probably 2-4 times before I thought about it and came to the realization that it would only hurt me in the long run. (the ign of the lvl 15: Dolos)

-I would be cheating to get my $ which entirely crashes my congruence of playing the game as it was intended (aka for coming back to oldschool maple in the first place)
-It would crash my integrity if I become a reputable player
-When I develop a Youtube channel to make vids supporting royals and the progress of my sin, as well as start streaming my Royals game play on twitch(which will be soon), I would have to openly lie and mislead viewers, friends, fans as to how I achieved my in game assets (which in the long run would be a contribution to exploiting and polluting the community)

So ban me if you want i guess, but I can't be asked to play that account to level 50 to cash out on my exploited NX. It goes against my goals for this game and it's against what I stand for as an MMO enthusiast. After all, I was just making an effort to compete in the market.
So if anything, go ahead. I'll take the sacrifice as Maple Jesus.
Thing is though, this problem is real, and I'm just being real about it...
the economy is slowly being exploited/drained and I believe it will reflect over time (unless ya'll are doing something to manage this and I'm just unaware). I'm sure there are some savy nerds who are manipulating this to the extent where they are using +5 mules to cash out on NX. Yes ik there are a couple safeguards on the royals website and the voting site but otherwise people are getting past it and it ain't really hard tbh. If my [Voting Problem] hypothesis were to be true, that would mean that there is little to no way to manage the extent at which each player could exploit the game, where the advantages are virtually unlimited to those who are able to exploit. Obviously, there will always be people who figure out how to exploit bugs/dynamics in any game. It just comes down to how strategic the developers are about managing the progress of the player base and game content over time. If any mod, gm, former royals employee, or royals veteran knows that the royals team is already deploying the best strategy, please enlighten me.

    2. MY PERSPECTIVE, CRITICISMS, & MISC

Don't get me wrong, I love royals a lot and I ain't leaving.

I just haven't been motivated to play as much, and when I do, no one wants to venture out and find new things to do at my lvl, which leads to me just afking in hene with my friends for 50-70% of my playtime. In fact, the only time my friends aren't in Hene is when they are selling leech or buying it.

Maplestory was originally created for third job, to finally achieve it, and explore and train at a variety of new spots and dominate all areas of the game. Obviously now the dynamics of the game are naturally different because its an msps as well as the fact that it's 10 years later, time and technology has changed. ex: Drop rate and exp are higher and people are smarter and more efficient in power leveling and funding their equips etc, but the moneymaking seems so lopsided now that there is no incentive for anyone to explore.

Instead, everyone I seem to interact with just seems interested in buying leech and essentially completely skip past this part of the game.

So basically besides questing, there's not much for me to play for at 3rd job. I know that I can make money from selling zhelms and stuff as well later in game for better meso/hr. I'm not sure of all of the money making methods after 4th job obviously because I never made it there in original maple 9-10 years ago and also bc im new to royals.

I know it might sound crazy, but my goal is to stay 3rd job until at least March or April next year. I want to get all available quests completely out of the way (hopefully reach my quest specialist goal), and get the celebrity medal (~320/1000).

3.POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS (SIMPLY FOOD FOR THOUGHT)

3.1 Decrease the daily Voting Rate: for example 4k nx a day

"omg are you retarded that's gonna make AP resets go up to +25m ea blah blah blah"

That's right bitches. I said it.
But bear with me for a moment on this one, bc it's just an idea. (also, I did no calculations on why i picked 4k.. frankly i'm just picking any number less than 8k)

Let's say the Royals team deploys this update only and lets examine this instance hypothetically:
Less mesos would be flowing thru the FM so demand would increase. AP reset prices would rise, CS + WS scrolls would rise as well, it would be harder for people to buy and sell leech. Making things more expensive and making the game harder to play..
basically all due to the value of NX increasing due to lack of supply. The first several months would definitely be intense
Hmmm so where would everyone get their mesos to buy anything? Well no one would be able to obviously. lmao. The current price of nx is the backbone of the economy and it dictates the rate of everything. Over time however, prices would come back down (with no other influences in my hypothetical example of course) the economy would still be tough, but it would adjust a little bit but the game would still be harder and it would suck.

So now we got an interesting and unpleasant situation here... but plot twist here: my goal is to make the value of nx decrease without inflating the fuck out of the economy lol

So lets add another variable to the situation that would perhaps achieve the desired goal.
What if there were higher drop rates on CERTAIN MOBs on all combat brackets to NPC (lv +50)? In turn, slightly increasing my hourly rate at coolies for example. Except making all other drops from monsters my level higher and equivalent, so there is variety and people would have go and access more training spots.
Or introduction to new content - or actually just fixing some of the regular content (quests, bosses, maps, etc) bugged that's unavailable that royals generally has a problem with compared to Legends for example.
There needs to be more of an outlet to achieve mesos other than from NX, to balance the game out and make each players contribution to the economy less than completely dependent on voting daily or how well someone can exploit voting via multi-voting. I think this will help the playerbase in a healthy and balanced way to get involved and invested into the community and reintroduce to original aspect of exploring the game which we all love and came back for (which i believe is currently fleeting).

Plot twist: you don't need to change the nx rate (jurastically at least) to achieve this, but it was one of my intentions to make your ass salty when you read "4k nx rate" or "lower the nx rate" because it's just further iterating my point of how dependent we are on NX to get anywhere in the game.

3.2 NX is only achieved after voting, where the amount of nx is based on how long the player is logged in, non afk

this was just a suggestion by a guildie. I think the problems are obvious with this one but it's an interesting idea to think about nonetheless. It would also require Royals to develop a macro detection system which would make sure logged in gameplay is authentic and non-botted. So it's not worth imo but its interesting

3.3 uh i ran out of ideas for now so for anyone with similar suggestions go ahead and give em to me. I'm bound to edit and continue this in the future.

I am also prepared to get roasted as well just based on me being a new player tryna come in the game and suggest we change everything lmao.. You can call me stupid if you want, I enjoy being challenged anyway if you couldn't tell by my prose, but I'm just suggesting things based off personal observation as well my desire to be able to enjoy this great game and community as much as possible.
Hopefully I might even have the opportunity to enrich your experience as well during our time on Royals!

    Thank you.

    -Amezing

Not going to discuss the fact that you outwardly admitted to doing something illegal but i'll say this, i completely agree with you that a ton of people are exploiting multi vote and its ruining the economy.

I think the problem lies with the fact that people just make another account and then use their mom or dad's phone to vote. I definitely think that it is destroying the economy as then you just have a ton of gacha items flooding the market constantly.

In general, majority of people are too worried to exploit this, but even you have gotten away with it for a while so i can't see why other people would not be able to for an extended period of time. Its too bad because i don't know how royals staff can even track this unless they get lucky, but i'm sure they have some methods of doing so.

I have only scan it quickly but I’m going to say something punctual: if you know there is someone voting on multiple accounts, this is the place to go and report them. Don’t even give it a second thought https://royals.ms/forum/forums/reports.7/

The rule is strictly one vote per person per 24hrs. It doesn’t matter whether you alternate accounts to vote as long as it is only ONCE every 24 hrs. If there are multiple players on one household, you guys need to apply for the white list. The fact you affirm there is 90% of the player base vote abusing is not true

I'll respond to specific parts of your post below, but just wanted to say that most of us rich players got to where we were by and large by dedicated grinding on our mages. For a long time, we were able to get a consistent 80m per hour on our bishops grinding at Deep Sea Gorge II, not even selling leech, just straight grinding and NPCing the equips. In fact, I daresay the very richest players, many of who are in my guild, don't sell leech at all. Just find how to farm mobs for the equips they drop and sell them to the NPC or in the free market. Totally independent of any leech buyers, and stable and consistent income. The key is the hours you'll log putting in effort to make your money, and the most optimal way to do that is simply by grinding on a mage.

There is absolutely a way to escape MapleRoyals minimum wage. Just put in the hard work of farming or leech selling on a mage. 1 hitting ulu 2 on a FP isn't hard at all, make a level 84 or below HS mule, and you can sell leech for 60m an hour, then there's 60m an hour in NPCing all the equips, so that's 120m an hour total.

As some who has made multiple perfect items on this game, it does take an enormous amount of time grinding. I personally never merched, but some people do and they're very successful at it. It's actually very easy to make money on this game, but it does require high time commitments and dedication. It is a waiting game to some extent, since you have to wait to accumulate the money for making the purchases you want, but I know several people who regularly make 1b a day because they'll grind for so long. Making a perfect item is about 35b worst case scenario, so it'll take a month or so to make a perfect item with that consistent moneymaking, but still, it's achievable to do.

False. I have... 14 accounts I think. I have never vote abused on those accounts. I have abided by the rule of one vote per 24 hours per household. And I assure you that most people are not vote abusing. However, it is true that some people massively vote abuse. In fact, I've made it a hobby to catch vote abusers and of the suspicious characters I've reported, some people have had 40, 70, even 100 accounts they were voting daily on. And then permanently banned of course. The point is, yes there's vote abuse, no it's not on that grand scale you might be thinking. Most people are legitimate in their gameplay.

I don't see how the one vote per 24 hours per household puts the economy at a disadvantage. Could you explain? o-o

You'd be banned for minor vote abuse at least.

Doesn't make you a martyr though.

The economy is being exploited and it reflects massively even now. AP Resets went from 10m each to 15m each precisely because the level 50 limit was put into place for purchasing them from Cash Shop. Exploitation by vote abusers for the most part makes things cheaper. Except WS and CS that are apparently bought en masse by legits and illegits alike, going from 300m each to towards 500m each.

Farming. NPCing mob drops. Leech selling for some. Same as always.

Substantiate your claim. I actually believe WS and CS prices are the backbone of the economy. They're the means for gear progression and also above max meso trade transactions. I don't see why the price of NX is a great factor in the economy much at all, particularly since most people depend on NPCing meso per hour rates for their income, with leech selling a second most important factor.

There is already. Player contributions to the economy isn't at all dependent on voting. Like, think about it. NX conversion to meso requires meso to be made from somewhere to begin with right? Most meso is generated into the server by mob drops getting NPCed and it's transferred from person to person thereafter, by leech selling and yes, by selling NX.

Intending to make someone's ass salty doesn't really help people listen to you, but if you're just venting and blowing off steam, that's fine if you don't mind some people writing you off. Just to end this, to reiterate, we're not dependent on NX to get anywhere in the game, although it sounds like you are. You can make a mage and farm, with or without leech selling, or you can learn how to merch. You can indeed hit fourth job (level 135 to be exact) and go on Zak runs to sell Zhelms and make income that way. But yeah, as a third job hermit who prioritizes questing and exploring, you're just not going to have the mesomaking level as those of us who prioritize getting money to get ever stronger. It's a matter of priority, but you're definitely not trapped by the system to remain poor.

Edit: Fryslan guide to making meso:
    I want solo-story and I need help.

Specifically felt the need to respond to this on behalf of the other poster- the price of NX dictates how much NX is being used for Gachapon as opposed to direct transfer into AP Resets. You and I both know that a lot of our friends aren't bothering to Gach right now knowing that AP Resets are so expensive - it's safer and often more lucrative to sell AP Resets. This in turn means less NX used on Gachapon, which lowers supply of WS and CS. You're not wrong - WS and CS are the backbone of the economy, but their price is just as much dependent on the NX economy as they are on meso inflation, at least I'd very much believe so. I think that that was the intent of what the other poster's statement.

Quoting this for truth - I think that it's really important to remember that, while you're allowed to and should be encouraged to play the game the way that you want to play it, there are definitely varying levels of actual efficiency when you consider different playstyles. Think about it - some people love playing Islanders, but if your goal is to perfect a 60/13 Dragon Purple Sleeve, you're never going to accomplish that from the Island. Just the same, though obviously to a lesser degree, if you love questing and exploring and all of that, power to you! Those facets of the game can be a lot of fun and I'm happy that you enjoy the game the way that you do, but the straight truth is that sitting around and farming Leprechauns on as many 3rd job Priests as you can while still selling Ulu2 Leech is just the best way to gain meso. It's not exactly fair to say that we should rebalance the whole game around your favorite playstyle, because... what gives you the right to ask for that over someone who enjoys farming the way I described?

tl;dr: play the way you want and enjoy the game the way you want, but asking for more meso while questing is like asking for Horntail Pendants to drop from Snails because you don't like fighting Horntail and you do like fighting Snails.

I'm glad majority of the people here are saying that most people don't vote abuse and since majority of the posters on this thread have been here 2+years then I'm sure they know what they're talking about.

It looks to me like this post was designed poorly, based on the fact the majority of the content of the responses are addressing the majority of my "irrelevant" or "false" content. I intended to design to stimulate conversation about how the game works, since lately I have found it difficult to motivate myself play and enjoy the game that has items that are basically unattainable to anyone who's been in the community for quite some time. And apparently that's what it is because every time I ask someone what to do they are like lol idk sell leech or AP resets. To the point where everybody around me is kinda just sittin around afk or selling/buying leech or complaining about that's all you can do. Like that's all Royals is about right now. Then I keep asking.. and I hear shit about people exploiting the game for voting and other things referred in the post that I've developed an opinion on that seems to be nonsense according to some of yours.

And all I want is for inclusive ways for anyone at any combat to get involved in the game and the economy and develop a decent char/build other than just voting and selling leech lol. Obv I'm stretching it (from however you would define decent) because I want a perfect claw, which I think should be attainable by next fall, which according to all of everything i been thru thus far, wont happen for another 18 months or so :(
But if it takes a year and a half on average to get several dozen white scrolls as a class other than a bish, that's insane. Obv bishops are designed for the buffs and benefits(which = $) .. But my argument is that for new and intermediate players, there is no other way to make money than make a bish. Or else ur just gonna have crappy-average dps for a year or two as you develop your character thru the game... which the entire problem is that there is no point of grinding out the levels (the char development part) so people just afk and leech it lol

For those who struggled to see the point of the post, that's basically what I meant^ o.o
-That the by far best way, above any other method, to attain enough money to get involved with decent items in the game means u can just sit around and vote for nx or sell leech, and not involve much of anything else to give new&intermediate players incentive make money early in the game..
followed by my opinion: that it seems everyone at my level just wants to leech thru their levels pre 100 and get past it like its nothing ... like wtf? this is old maple isn't this what this game's supposed to be about?

    Apparently not it seems.

Either way I'm lovin some of the responses even if they hurt a little, but they are good ones. I'm already learning and rethinking the way I look at things.

    Thank ya'll again!

P.S sure i don't mind getting a minor ban bc I did break the rules, not a big deal to me in the long run since I don't intend to do it anyway and I don't encourage that behavior so whatever drop the hammer.
Before my reevaluation of my goals with Royals, i was just doing it under the assumption that everyone lowkey did :/

Your opinion isn't nonsense. It's important to note that Royals is substantially different from the MapleStory of our childhoods despite that management makes its concept of nostalgia top priority. While it's admirable that you find joy in reliving your childhood experiences, grinding through third job on your hermit, it's just plain and simple that you're not going to have as much money as the people who have learned the unique income methods and economy navigation and prioritize gaining wealth over nostalgic revelry. This isn't to say that your way of having fun is bad, nor ours, but it's just the truth is that if you want to be as rich or as strong as the top players here, the best way to do that is to make money how they did. And for the most part, that's farming. I daresay the very richest players actually haven't sold much AP Resets or leech throughout their time here. And to the veterans, I'm thinking of people like Momo, Tim, Mike, Nessi, Hampa, Yan, and so on, so of course there's exceptions to hardcore leech sellers like Brandon, but still, you can be at the top 1% without much AP Reset or leech income to speak of.

And the gameplay of Royals is starkly devoid of actual content. Most people actually do farm or sell leech all day. I know mine is. Most people from what I see afk or farm or sell leech and just work towards buying the next White Scroll, the next Chaos Scroll. It's mostly centered around gear progression here. And character progression too, using money to HP wash the next character after the previous had hit level 200. Sure, you can do your two Krex and two Zak runs after you get to level 135. And sure you can do your one Toad run after you get to level 175 and have 16.3k HP with HB (lol). But other than that, there's really nothing to do in this game. Some people like to smega spam. Some people like to Henehoe. It's a matter of finding what makes you happiest, and not everyone wants to dedicate all their time and energy to being the rich and powerful, and that's totally fine.

I think when you get to level 135 and you start joining Zak and Krex runs and you make bossing friends and start networking with other endgame players, you'll see the game is very fun, but the reason why it's fun is for the community. The reason why so many of us leech all the way to level 135 is that there's nothing to do really before that. Questing and exploring is fun for some people and that's great! I'm happy you enjoy it! But unfortunately most people just want to do bosses, get exp and money (Zhelm, sometimes Krex ring selling splits) and make progress on their characters with their friends. It becomes like a daily routine, seeing your friends log on and doing bosses together. So maybe you'll have more fun, for both game enjoyment and the income flow, once you hit that level 135 threshold to start bossing. That's a turnpoint for most people I would think. Regardless, just have fun and keep in mind you always have the option to go with conventional funding methods if you strongly prioritize moneymaking and that perfect claw! And explore other methods like merching; some people here have gotten very wealthy with their clever trading. Rip @Zenoooo you'll be missed.

I'm not going to really add valuable input but I just wanted to say that I use all my NX for cosmetic purposes and not for currency maximization.
And when the server was down last night, I spent like 3 hours going through a bunch of Ban Appeal threads (very entertaining if you ask me). A lot of the mods discover people who are vote abusing and have absolutely 0 flexibility in allowing them to continue their behavior. It is an instant permanent ban offense. Of course, there will be people who slip through the cracks (the mods are only human afterall), but for the most part they do a good job sniffing out vote abusers.

I really like this response and I will use 135 as a threshold to help me better gauge my characters development. Frankly it does crash a few as my arguments that i justified almost completely on my bias. So I can see how people would stand behind what you are saying. I think it just comes down to opinion at this point bc if I wanted to just play to make $$$ from leeching and bossing I would just go to gms. That's really as simple as it is to me right now but I am aware of the fact that I'm also just pretty biased and I need to take the time to understand royals more before making such strong statements.

Just take your time and enjoy the journey. I really do think your experience on here will change once you get to that level 135 for bossing. Keep on going, and early congrats on when you get there! Happy Royaling! ~f2

lul since them lv 57s are the only thing I can grind for $$ at 96, I wouldn't waste my time with anything more. No one ever wants to go there and no one ever does at my level. y grind at coolies and coolies only just for $$$ w ur friends at 96 when u can just make a bish to fund the $$$ to leech & entirely skip those levels of the game rite?

So, I'm just a little confused about your huge post criticizing the game when you haven't even made it to Lv 100, and you've been playing for less than 3 months. Play the game a little before you start complaining ya?

So it'll take you 13-30 months to get a claw with the current nx rate, and you wanna decrease the rate to 4K a day, so it'll take you 26-60 months to get the claw?

IMO (all my characters are under 100) I like the fact that end-game items are seemingly "unobtainable", because it gives us new players an end-goal to reach. If there weren't expensive, god-like items that only veteran players have then it wouldn't be as rewarding/impressive to be such a high level with godly equips.

My highest level character is only 61, but just from voting everyday for a few months I made enough NX to roll the gacha a bunch and got a couple Chaos Scrolls. Not everyone will be as lucky but it took me basically no time or grinding to make over 1billion mesos.

tl;dr - If it were easy then it wouldn't be as fun or rewarding.

I've been level 50 for almost a month now and my dit is my only character, no bishop. I've made quite a good amount of money in my humble opinion. I'm still far from my goal of what i want in terms of money, but i can say for certain you can make a lot of money if youre smart.

I think at low levels you should definitely try to merch, its not for everyone but those who know how to do it properly definitely come out with a lot of money. I'll put it this way, the profit i make every day far outweighs the mesos equivalent i get for voting. I would say its probably 10% of what i can make every day so even if they just shut down NX all together i'd still make a good amount so i don't think there's a problem with the voting system

Just going to add that farming isn't the only way to make money. Merchant and scrolling when done right yields much more mesos per hour than farming unless you like to farm 7 hours a day with a 15x + mage in which case it probably breaks about even
