wake up you people, this is an nostalgic private server, if you don't believe me then check the gtop100.

Boat rides were fun, friendships were born, you played drop games, sold stuff etc...

i really don't understand this server, boat rides are supposed to be mandatory 100%, since players can afford to buy fast travel ticket everyday, they just lose some cash only ( you staff members only made things more wrong ).

I suggest ship time should be reduced for 2 minutes atleast, since it really doesn't take much time anyway, you are just impatient everyone of you.

teleporting instantly to other maps? Then build a fkin own house system on this server if you freakin allow teleporting like a game master, wheres the nostalgia in that?

ps. MAPLESTORY WAS ON IT'S HIGHEST PEAK EVEN THOUGH SHIP RIDES WERE MANDATORY, EVERYONE HAD FUN DURING THOSE RIDES, yes even the famous " Dray86 "

My friend always used teleport rock from Ludi to El Nath to zakum with her guildmate. Not sure what you're talking about using tele rock isn't nostalgic.

 

That costed real money back then, most players didn't have NX back then. The fact that the staff members can't use their brains and make the tele rocks MORE expensive, since we get free NX everyday.

And most players don't use tele rocks here, most buy something more useful, such as gacha tickets and AP resets. think about that.

 

Some people forget why they left those 500xp servers for a 4xp one. Too many shortcuts to end game can hurt a servers longevity, and I think the owner knows this from experience. Otherwise royals would be 10xp like it used to be.

 

I think boat rides are great the only thing that i would like to change is the duration, i think 30minutes would be more fitting.

 

WORD ! In most servers you level too fast with high drops too while teleporting around towns. What is the end result? You get bored and you quit.

MOST OF US COME FROM THE OLD SCHOOL MAPLESTORY, WHY DIDN'T YOU QUIT BACK THEN EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING WAS A LOT HARDER HUH? And admit it, it was more fun, until bb patch...

Well there isn't much to complain about because at least they've implemented fast-travel and TP's at the same time. I was kinda ticked off at first but I'm cool with it now.

Concerning the "nostalgia" argument. I think it's a moot point.

The problem people face isn't the nostalgia behind boat rides but what they imply: Time
Because it's an old school MS private server, most players are adults. Many have 9-4h jobs or attend uni. They don't play enough hours to warrant a 10min boat ride every time they want to travel... (Thank god for TP's). Also, MapleRoyals isn't as populated as GMS once was. During weekdays, it's more of a ghost ship ride...

 

I take the time to read each answer on this topic, I see first that there is intolerance to the opinion of some members, in my case I am totally new to this MS, I did not know the first one, and since I do not have much time and I play a few hours and a few days a week, the old system I liked more, because it saved me time, now wait to embark, wait for it to depart and also wait to get to the destination, it leaves me almost no time, and spend 2m per day, I do not believe have them, well I think it's a problem just mine and maybe new members, because veterans, I do not think they have that problem, but if it's nostalgia as they say then it's a good update, I love nostalgia xD.

 

Once again, no one is seeing the issue that the owners have no qualms doing something even if the majority doesn't like it and there's no strong reason for it other than "Matt wanted it".

Your point about instant boat rides making the game too easy is moot; I can still easily afford them so nothing has changed overall, apart from the change itself.
You can view the complaints against this change as meaningless complaints, or you can view it as feedback. Because at least now staff realise they can't just do shit like this without anyone speaking up.
Then again, it's someone else's private server so what can you do.

all i'm saying is to decrease the boat waiting / riding time. What is 5-10 min? Nothing. If you came to play this game for an hour a day, then quit. if you have a part time job and you study, why the h3ll are you playing maplestory then?

and you are wrong, the ship would have more players if the fast travel ticket would be deleted, not everyone is gonna buy TP rocks. And i already suggested that TP rocks should be more expensive.

Tell me more about all the nostalgia you have off this server. Hundreds of level 200 chars, pretty much every character in the game being washed to some degree, weekly access to 60+ Gachapon tickets worth of free NX, more than half the server having a 4th job mage to mass farm money/mass sell leech, likely less than 1% of the server population doing any non-mandatory questing or PQing at all, people doing daily Krexels and Zakums for months on end, non-expiring NX clothes that you buy, drop, trade with friends without a second thought, perfect attack weapons all over the place being bought and sold regularly, event chairs that never even existed on old GMS flooding the FM. Tell me how any of this is similar to the nostalgia of the way you played official MapleStory back in the day. I want you to truthfully say that the Royals experience even with mandatory boat rides is even remotely close to the game you played back in 2007. I doubt you can. I doubt anyone can.

MapleRoyals isn't GMS like and never has been. If you want a GMS like server, look around for the 1x or 2x exp servers that don't have tradeable NX that are way more barebones than this server ever has been and ever will be. MapleRoyals has always been different from GMS because MapleRoyals has always been a balance of convenience and nostalgia. For years, this server has been against all of the crazy content that started to ruin the game we remembered, like Potential and Vicious Hammers, but has been in support of making the game more friendly to play and less tedious, by having features like an FM button and optional boat rides only. That's all changed since 2017 and people who played Royals because they wanted and loved that balance are now left out to dry in favor of people who are new to the server and don't understand what made this server good in the first place. We have to deal with all of these changes that are just flat out against the reason we came here and loved it here in the first place and it puts us in the position where we have to choose whether to throw away literally years of our lives or just grudgingly deal with stuff like this.

you do realize at least 70% of royals players play at least 5h during their visit on royals? And you can't handle a ship ride which isn't even 30 min from ellinia to orbis..

most players play 10h a day, even more too.

Everything about what you just said is exactly how I feel. I am so close to writing my farewell post its getting to me. Between having gotten a new job IRL and all of these changes since NEW SOURCE HYPE SOONTM NOSTALGIA4LYFE bullshit. I just don't bother to do more than AFK in the FM and krex every now and then. DC issues coming back in full force again is also super fun too. This isn't the Royals I once loved.
