Why can't we all jsut be happy and mind our own business? (I know i'm not minding my own business right now but since everyone else is talking about this i'm going to give my own initial opnion on this.)

Okay, I personally know Mike, (Anesthetize) he's a great guy, he respects others and he is extremely friendly unlike all you other people saying that he is not respectful. E.g. He helps many people to get Zhelms and other skill books like gene 20, tt10/tt20, zerk20 etc from Zakum. He usually does mosst of these things for free. In my opinion I think that the consequences is a BIT too severe, a 3 day temp ban may not seem like the BIGGEST issue but it hurts your reputation, it's on your record and I don't think that the so called "ksing" should result in a 3 day temp ban especially when it comes to events like this. Come on guys it's Matt's birthday we should all be happy and kill cake monsters. I'm not to sure about what entirely happened but I think that the two people who reported Mike, should have at least given an effort of partying Mike or at least convince him to be in their party.

Then again in my opinion I think they took this situation a bit too sensitively. It's ONE cake monster. If Mike was being rude to you or hassling you then i guess it's "suitable" to report him but "Ksing" really? really? I disagree. Then again this is Matt's private server and it is the Gm's responsibility to carry out consequences for rules he has set but I would like to suggest a 1st warning before someone gets banned completely. Gm's should talk to Mike before he receives any consequences before he is banned. I think most people like myself think that it's "unfair" for him because this whole argument and report seems so one sided, there is no proper evidence to prove what actually happened through out the entire "ksing" or what happened. Like others have said a screen shot cannot prove what entirely happneed and the consequences are too severe.

AT THE END OF THE DAY LETS ALL JUST BE HAPPY AND EAT SOME CAKE TO CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF MATT XX YEARS AGO :) :)

I agree to what others said, but I just want to open it up a bit more. Just like what others said, there shouldn't be a rule around kill stealing, it's just common sense that you don't jeopardize other people's training routine just because you can get a little advantage. I would agree however that it should be against the rules if someone knowingly cause other people to not have fun, or in other words, to grief them. This rule should apply to any monster, event or no event. At the end of the day, this game is about fun!

Please have some courtesy when you are playing with others on this server as they bestow courtesy towards yourself.

    The Letter Vs. The Spirit

Going by the letter or by the spirit? How strict should one judge by the rules?
Sometimes it is clear as crystal, sometimes it is clear as mud.

For example going by this ruling I could get banned for casting some gene in a map passing through if the person in the map shouts "stop ksing me" takes a ss and posts it on the forum. Because if you go by the letter it is technically KSing. (If I got a smega from that person about it, the smega sarcasm overload back from me would be bloody damn high)

In my eyes, to KS is to follow a player/players for a x period of time killing the monsters he/she/they is/are about to kill, either in the same map or in different maps or in different channels. That is the SPIRIT of the rule.

Killing 1 monster a player already started killing or have in front of him/her and then getting banned, that is taking the rules to the LETTER.

Do I think this ban is ridiculous? You bet I do. No offense to the GM's or Matt (you know I love your work here) but to me this ban smells Nexon. It's really ugly to the letter. It's so nitpicky it's scary. Ane is one of the older players here, helpful and well respected. A hard warning should have been enough in this situation.

This was a monster event, and like all other monster events we had so far (except that super awesome one with different maps for different lvls) it's free for all to kill anything unless specific rules are set.

On the other hand Cinnamon was clearly offended about Ane killing his cake.
But it's just a cake! He could just cc and kill some other cake! maybe someone says. It's not that easy guys. Sometimes you just have time to kill that one last boss or do that one last thing before you have to go, and it's not fun when someone comes by and just ruins what you have been doing for the past xx min/hours.

So, was Ane wrong killing that cake, Yes. Was it wrong of him to dish out some sarcasm? Yes. Was what he did a ban offense? No.

I saw other high-level players encounter the same experience: lower-leveled players partying and trying to kill a cake boss by themselves. Those other higher-level players asked to party, and if they agreed to it, they partied and there were no problems. If the lower-leveled players said no, they then respectfully left the map and told them if they changed their mind, they should let them know. That's the kind of behavior that should be taking place.
Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

What Anes is leaving out is that the players did cc to the next channel after he ks'd them where he did the exact same thing a second time, prompting the report.

We do not need to give warnings to players committing offenses that are prohibited in the rules. For example, when we find someone hacking, we don't warn them and let them go play. The rules are posted for everyone to see for a reason. You agree to abide by them when you sign up. They are your first warning.

You are doing it again, talking about hacking. This really upsets me so I will give it to you straight. Sorry but if you are so narrow minded that you equate hacking with this alleged offense then maybe you should not be a GM. It is the second time you are mentioning hacking in this case, it's not the same nor should it be treated the same. Stop being such a narrow minded red-tapist and start using your cognitive power to make fair decisions.

    Thing is, KSing =/= hacking.

Whilst KSing is prohibited in accordance with the rules, technically the screenshots are not enough proof of true KSing (although I do not for one second doubt that they were KSed).

The only way to prove KSing is to video it. Screenshots don't always show the whole picture (pun not intended).

And before action is taken, 100% certainty must rule.

Faye compared this KSing to hacking, so let me do the same - you don't ban someone for hacking if you're not 100% sure that they are hacking, right? So why ban someone if you're not 100% sure of them KSing? Screenshots PROVE nothing, and even if one part in this mess may be lying - it's still words against words. Unless, of course, proof is arbitrary, then never mind anything of what I just said before this sentence.

And, more on topic, I don't know how to solve KSing when it comes to event mobs. I would never KS a cake that someone else is already killing, but really - whether you like it or not - it's bound to happen. Not everyone is a humble person. The KSer will be given a bad reputation and if video-proof is available then it should warrant a (3/7/perm) ban as well, but really, screenshots don't prove anything.

I agree that screenshots don't prove much in regards to kill stealing in comparison to hacking. But Faye saw this happen. She was not just going off from screenshots...
