v.83 Discussion, potentially updating?

Windows 8 people would go mad, like me. We'd end up being unable to play, for whatever the reasons are.

We've got content from v83 anyways, I don't see the need. We don't need the scissors of karma, they ruined the adventure of participating in the killing of bosses, etcetc.

Skills can be fixed to be compatible in this version.

 

I would personally prefer that we went the "expanded v0.62" route (adding new content for variety but keeping changes to existing content to a minimum to retain the old-school Maple nostalgia). Version 0.62 with added Magatia and CWK as well as our current custom content appeals to me. Working minidungeons would be nice too, to cater for a larger future player-base, but unsure if this is remotely possible.

The sheer amount of work involved in disabling/removing/fixing potentially unwanted and/or hideously buggy content from v0.83 makes my brain spin just thinking about it.

 

I agree, but the point most of us are making is that we dont actually want v83, we just want new content. I agree that SoK ruined the real boss-hunting feeling and hope the Gms agree on this aswell!

Honestly, wiping again and switching to v83 would be the biggest bitch slap to the face of all the people who put their time and effort into this game at this point... One wipe was enough, I don't think people want to relive that nightmare of the first wipe (you know, the week where no one knew what was going on and everyone completely lost their shit), yea no thanks... Plus the server has grown a lot since the wipe and wiping now would ruin everything that people worked so hard to build. And as several people have mentioned, we already tried a v83 source and it was buggy as hell. If we were to switch to v83, we'd also be competing with a lot more servers out there...

yea lets just upgrade to v83 and make everyone's 20 luk bathrobe and 14att bwg useless. thats the main reason a lot of people quit gms at v83 me included. if mapleroyal were to have a v83 server, it would best be created as a separate server than the v62 one. but with the frequent lag i dont think that is possible for a while

the admin is right I think instead of making a version v90 83 should be good because they would be more like 2 job and the evan dual blade and serious as admin says a giant fish because being the only one to have the server v90 we would be all over and I'm sure we would have 100% more followers who now play the v83 and would like the best version before the big bang all the job! First when i saw this server on Gtop and Etc' , i knew that im going to play it, but after a while(20 days approx) i realized that many things are missing(Maker skill, Mu lung Dojo,Places,Quests improvments,and items[belts])
I stopped playing this server like a month ago[at lvl 46] but as u can see im still here, in the forum to see maybe mapleroyals will update its version.
When i saw that there's no Dojo and Maker skill i was so sad and angry and just didnt want to play anymore...
Pls MapleRoyals, update to V.75 or V.83 , there are so many things to do in these versions!!! we can wait for u to fix the buggs ans stuff...

 

Reading through all the posts, it has been a common complain that "oh v62 is missing this", "oh something is buggy", "I stopped playing because something I wanted wasn't there".

But people seem to fail to remember that this server prides itself as v62 server with newer content. If some people really felt the need for certain add ons, I'm sure there are other servers out there that can satisfy your wants.

Instead of demanding an upgrade, why not enjoy what there is here? Cut the developers some slack, they did a lot to bring the server to where it was today.

Yeah there are heaps of v83 servers, if that's what you'd prefer you can join one of those easily instead of forcing this one to change. Despite this, mapleroyals continues to be more popular than any of them. Hmm...

 

I know that there are alot of V.83 servers, but all of them suck with over rates like 20 exp and so...this is the only server that has normal rates like old maple had, its just that certain things that i really had fun doing,missing in this version...

 

There are 0 low rate 83 servers and 3 (soon to be 4) low rate 62 servers. Food for thought.

 

But Destiny isn't a mid-rate server.

This sums up my entire opinion about whether or not we should move to v83/86. I like the idea of having Royals stay a "v62 with benefits" server.

 

V62 with benefits is probably the best way to describe it that anyone could have come up with.

Just one more thing to put in your "food for thought" - anyone who is currently playing on a mac and doesn't have or isn't willing to regularly use bootcamp could not play if the server were changed to v83. I've tried it dozens of times just to experiment with the way that wineskin works, and v83 simply will not run. Perhaps Matt would be able to play around with it, because I'm sure he's more experienced with the program than I am... but despite more than a few hours put in, I can't get it to work.

I'm not sure how it would affect other users (windows 8) who are already having compatibility problems.
