The price of the scrolls had nothing to do with supply and damand. People were using them as a form of currency for expensive trades. That's the only reason they were 500mil+. Even after their drop rate was increased and more people were getting them, the price continued to rise. They're now dropping back down to their normal prices as merchants don't need to stock them for expensive item trades. They're now more accessible to newer players, which is a good thing.
that is an interesting point but i'm not convinced supply and demand didnt play a big role in it together with inflation of the currency. only time will tell, i guess. personally, i will still prefer to trade with CS/WS as they don't have a 3% exchange rate and i do believe the price will go up again anyways it's good to have good point being brought up, thanks for keeping my faith in civil discussion on this platform
But you forgot to observe from the economic point of view: mesos do not vary equal to CHAOS/WS, is already a concern less and also, taxes were the cause of people negotiating for WS/CHAOS and are now only 3% rate , before it was 6% every 100m in the trade, in the store I do not remember, so I do not think they will still prefer the scrolls to do business.
they were 3% in store at 100m+, so CS/WS trading still is much better. 3% per trade is a huge deal when dealing with large sums of money. and let's not forget that more and more people are getting high level mages, getting up to 150m+ an hour from mobbing, inflating the currency more and more. 300m 1 years ago is worth much more than today, which is another reason why i think CS/WS prices will go up and that 400m is already ridiculously low for the end game scrolls.
While I think it's impossible to tell with certainty without looking at the data, I strongly believe that this is a result of supply and demand. A good way to understand the cs/ws is to understand the number of cs/ws in circulation/produced/consumed over time vs player growth. The nature of how cs/ws is used (alternative for mesos, used for scrolling) will determine how the supply changes over time. An intuition is that if the number of cs/ws increases at a lower rate than userbase grows. The price would increase. While there should technically be more cs/ws with more players, they are actually perishable. As mentioned before that the currency is inflating over time as people are getting richer over time, but competing for resources that are not being produced at the same rate as their mesos.
