This lag is constant and simply unprofessional. You guys put the server down for some hours to try and figure it out, and that did not help any, unfortunately. Would it be possible to take a whole day and look for issues? Would that even solve anything though? Is our lag simply because we have too many people online? I love this server and most people on it, and the staff usually does a fantastic job. The server is relatively stable in all aspects except the up time. I hate to be this negative and pushy, but this lag is getting unbearable. edit: I emphasized the important part.
I agree 100%. I love the server too but the lag makes me sad :c I've never really been mad about it because I know you guys are trying but how close are we to solving these lag issues and what's the reason that we're having them? I'm 100% loyal to royals so it really upsets me to see people quitting due to lag issues when it's such a wonderful server in all other aspects.
I don't think the official reason for the lag is known to anyone. Chances are it is a combination of different things.
I can't take this post seriously because you used comic sans Luke. Donator shop sale compensation pls. <3
Well, they have a $750+ sever (usd) and I'd assume that's backed with amazing bandwidth and connection speed, or their wasting their money. I'm assuming the only real problem is how their java is coded and has just been piled on top of with a bunch of other code making the server more and more unstable and it will only continue to be more unstable the more that's piled on top of it. That's partly what Matt said the only real problem is, with a mix of what I'd assume is wrong. But, I agree that the server should be taken down for a day, or even a week to solve the lag problems once and for all. I'd rather wait to have a good experience, than have a continually bad experience.
We are unsure what is causing the lag, however I've made some more changes today, let me know how the lag is now.
One of the problems with the lag issue (the lag spikes, at least) is that the worst of it occurs when we have around 400 players online, so it's harder to test for what's wrong when there's just a handful of GMs online.
I know you are doing your best and i appreciate it. Something i really would like to see is that you keep us updated on what is going on, i mean a bit more. The lagg has been pretty strong lately and is there any chance you could use this thread or start a new one "official" for any updates or changes you make, (for the lagg) instead of having some information spread around, at least i feel that I haven't read much on the forum on whats going on, maybe i missed it. It's good to know you are still working on it, all i want is a sticky thread where you would be so kind and update on whats happening. I know this is a time consuming problem and i don't expect you using all your time to fix this, but since it feels like this will take time to fix (understandable) can you make a real thread for this.
We have had a ticket with LSN open for the last 2 weeks, with over 100 ticket posts of us both trying to diagnose the issue with no avail. We have tried so many things... We have tried changing IP's at least twice, we have tried with no DDoS protection, we have had the server taken off the rack and had diagnostics run on it to check the hardware, we have increased the RAM to 128GB, we have tried turning the firewall off completely, to name a few things... I don't think there is a point to create a thread explaining what we have tried doing if nothing has fixed it yet. But we are obviously still trying to fix the issue. And to the topic starter, turning the server off for a day won't do much to help diagnose the issue really.
I've only experienced horrific lag once or twice while playing. I started like.. 3 weeks ago. I didn't notice anything the first two weeks.. At all.
Ah alright then. That was the main point of the thread, not just to complain about the lag. If shutting it down for 24 hours will not help with diagnostics then that is a shame! Hopefully all can be worked out then. There is no real reason for this thread to stay open now, as it no longer serves a purpose. You must be logging in at the perfect times!
