I also do hate hp washing for many reasons, but the biggest one is that I cannot play the early levels on my character like it is supposed to. I would love to grind and do party quests but instead, I have to leech myself...
The only character I leveled up without leeching was my first character, an Arch Mage.

My suggestion to this problem would be changing the main source of mp for non-mage classes come from equipment INT stats. Currently, it is not possible to get enough extra mp for 9k+ HP just from equipments.
This change would allow people to actually grind their characters while also HP washing them at a cheaper price...

My suggestion for this problem is for royals to create a new world and disable ap resets there. I would be the first to play there man

It's probably theoretically possible but not really feasible. You'd have to rely on HB pretty much the whole run and you'd just be a burden for the party and very likely die, even as a buyer you will be too much trouble cause you'd need to get hb immediately after the dispel. I don't think anybody in royals beat HT with no washing at all as well (with a ranged class). It's kinda like saying you can duo Horntail with 2 bishops or something, possible in theory but unrealistic.

Nexon actually had a solution to that. Cube/ Potentials. Do you still want it?

Well OFC Nexon had a solution that would continue to leech money from it's community. We can easily implement a solution that would be good for the game, instead of cancer like cubes and potentials.

I don't understand the hate by calling it cancer but introducing new contents would be a step in the right direction. Dear GMs, make weapon and magic defense more relevant!

I call it cancer because it introduces randomization on an extreme level to powering up your character, as well as when cubes first came out the only way to get them was by paying. It created a huge power spike(people getting upwards of 100% or more of their base stat) and new even harder bosses were created with even better gear, that could only be achieved through spending money on cubes. it was a vicious cycle that really set Ms out on it's current P2W path.

Look at the bright side, you need Potentials for the new contents. :D

To be honest I dont like potentials either, but I cant just ignore the 10 yearss content available with it.

Well lets not make this about cubes. I still want to hear how more people feel about HP washing, and how they feel the issue could be solved

Who doesn’t hate washing I couldn’t even enjoy my character until he hit 135 cause of washing needing to leech cause I had over 200 base int but there’s nothing i think we could do about it I wish everyone could do ht without waiting for a drk but as a ranged class I don’t want to wash but I feel like I have to just to do bosses

I was one of the people who HP washing on GMS. I hated it then and I continue to hate it now.

If hp washing is as universally hated as it might be, I would like to recommend a change that one of the other Private servers added to their game. They removed Hp washing by increasing the amount of hp a class gained per level. Each class had its own range of HP gain, as warriors like Drks and Heros would gain the most HP, and classes like Archers and Thieves would gain the least, but they would still gain way more than they do naturally. Now I didnt experience the end game on this other private server to understand if it fundamentally broke everything. But in theory it seemed like a pretty good solution to HP washing. I wouldnt mind this a solution to our HP washing issues. Obviously I dont think this would ever work on our current server. Because then we would have an issue with one of the huge nx sinks being severely hindered.

I'd be thrilled if HP washing was removed, even though it's too late for my currently active character. That assumes we're compensating in some way, like more HP gain on level up.

I feel that HB was originally intended to make DKs necessary for boss runs, similar to HS for bishops or SE for BM/MM. Enforced party diversity, if you will. The problem is, Royals is so easy play that everyone just has a mule for everything. There's no point to preserving that dynamic, unless you consider mules to be nostalgic. I vote for just giving everyone a fat HP boost and calling it a day.

The discussion seems to lean towards the value of hp washing to the washing character. I think we also need to make it clear the impact of hp washing on the current economy of MapleRoyals. When I first started Royals (on the same bish as I am today) the easiest way to get the most basic set of equipment without much hassle was selling six ap resets from three days worth of votes. Removing hp wash would requires truly new players different avenues of making meso and fully utilising the nx earned each day. Some might argue gachapon, but gachapon is not exactly the most reliable source of income, and even that requires some knowledge of the value of the item received from gach. Ap resets however has a relatively set price and easy to offload. I know it made my early days a heck load easier.

Also, when there was a a trend of increase in prices of CS/WS many, many, many threads were talking about how we could create a meso sink. AP resets is a large portion of the current meso sink in MapleRoyals. The best part is that it transfers money from the rich (billions of it) to the needy and helps to provide progress to some form of monetary equality. Of course the meso sink is mainly in the trade tax, but still the transfer of meso from the veterans move the newbies. When the rich have nothing to spend on and keep their billions, that is when the rest of the market gets inflated.

TL/DR Removing hp wash would remove one of the main source of income of truly new players and create a stagnation in monetary flow.

But would economic boosts for newer players really be worth placing such a large burden on everybodies back that is HP washing. I don't think that an unfun, tedious, bordernline broken mechanic should be used as an economic staple.

Perhaps AP resets can be sold through the NPC in the FM at a 2:1 ~ 3:1 Mesos:NX ratio like Super Megaphones or VIP rocks in order to at least put a check on how inaccessible the practice becomes towards new players. As of now AP resets are 16m each and may very well rise again. The bar for a newer player or a player that has not made an HP washed character yet is simply too high. Even though it cannot be removed (and maybe it shouldn't be), it can be made reasonably accessible to make more people less unhappy that it exists.

Just posting here to point out that while the whole game is possible to play on any character without HP washing, the exception being ranged characters at Castellan Toad and Kacchuu Musha, the game is significantly more difficult to play without HP washing. The investment of even 2bil mesos into HP washing a character makes characters so outlandishly easy to play in comparison to unwashed characters, and as such, while HP washing is non-mandatory, it's fairly simply an easy and worthwhile investment to any new character playing the game. Just as a player invests money into a better piece of equipment, they can invest money into the character's physical ability and open up so many more avenues to enjoyment of the game. Personally, I don't see why this is a bad thing in the slightest. If I have the money to put into perfect weapons and gear, I can kill Krexel in less time. If I have the money to HP wash my character, I don't need HB at Horntail, and I can kill that boss faster with a more efficient party member in that slot. That's just the way I see it.

I believe it would be interesting to know the statistics of specifically ranged characters, that is, Night Lords, Marksmen, Bowmasters and Corsairs, above the level of 155 that is Horntail's level requirement to get full experience from the fight, which have more than 5,600 HP as opposed to less than 5,600 HP. The number I chose is representative of the former requirement to attend Horntail with Hyper Body available to you up until new source Horntail release - and even this is not a number achievable by non-Corsair ranged characters without HP washing at level 155. Comparing that ratio against the same ratio of characters at an arbitrary higher level of perhaps 180, adjusted for the natural HP gain of a character, would show the difference between how many individuals progress through the end-game without HP washing as opposed to those who do; if the ratio leans towards more HP washed characters, the implication is that it is more difficult to continue playing a less-washed character as you proceed towards level 200 such that these players either quit or otherwise remake their characters, while if the ratio leans towards less HP washed characters or otherwise stays relatively the same, the implication is that HP washing is not relevant towards the endgame as unwashed characters still will continue to play their unwashed ranged characters regardless of difficulty, or perhaps in spite of it. This comparison would indeed come with the inherent biases of both older characters reaching higher levels without HP washing due to simply not knowing or being unable to afford it, as well as the bias that the closer to endgame a player reaches, the more likely that that player is to spend money on conveniences such as HP washing. People who have remade their higher leveled ranged characters for higher HP would balance both sides of the scales, both showing that it is possible to complete a character without HP washing as well as showing that more HP is preferred in spite of what is possible. Perhaps a privileged member of staff could share these statistics with the public?

Oh, and lastly, I'm sure that there's that one bloke out there who has remade a ranged character that now has less HP than the first time, and all I have to say to you is... ~f6.

I have a suggestion. Can you not release a custom item? A medal for example? Perhaps indentical to the 4th job medal but with custom hp for each class? Basically have 1 for each class. A total of a few new medals. Make the lvl requirement 135 or 155. But have the HP custom for each class. That way it doesn't make any one class too OP. Set it so that Night lords get just enough HP to HT without HB. Same for BM/MM, sairs etc. Then for classes that don't need to wash, Shadowers, heros, Bucc, etc, you can give them a bit less HP. Just enough to make it slightly more comfortable for them to boss without making it too easy.

By doing this, you won't remove the benifits of HP washing, but it won't make it necessary anymore. Want 30k hp on a NL, you'll still have to do a massive amount of HP washing. But at least you can HT at 155 without it. Want a bit of extra HP on your hero or Bucc, go for it.

Not sure how easy it would be to make a new item like this. But I think it would be a good idea.

Or just 1 medal for all classes that gives 500hp/mp. Make the quest as tedious as ever.

I do miss 2-4 party boss runs, without mules off.

Would 500 hp really be enough to do HT though? Yea, perhaps I was over thinking it. Maybe just 1 medal with the bare minimum amount of HP for a range character to do HT at 155. The warriors and Shadowers and stuff would get a slight boost from it as well.

I was just thinking about making it more custom.

Remove multi client option = most jobs finds themselves necessary into boss runs due to no mules
