~~~~~Maple Island Speed Run Leaderboard~~~~~ 1. Ryden - 8:47 2. Togain - 14:30 Requiring video evidence was silly. Just be honest, please. <3 -----RULES----- 1. It's a solo challenge. 2. No outside help at all. 3. No leeching. 4. No trading. 5. No mobbing for your friends. 6. No multiclient. 7. No hacking. 8. No fun (the most important). 9. Timer ends as soon as you land in Lith. Good luck to all!
If you're going to put those rules on it, I don't think anyone's going to be able to touch the 1st place time (which got to do those things). I also think it goes against the spirit of "speed runs" where the intent is to get things done as fast as possible (ab)using any means necessary within the confines of the game but including things like glitch abuse, etc.
The way I see it, without help it's not complex enough. It would just come down to what quests to do and how lucky you get with mobs. Allowing for red shells etc. could add other dynamics. Thoughts? I'mm erring on the side of no assistance.
I'm 99% sure Genechris got help in some form to get the time that he got. ________________________________________ Reasons: 1. Mushrooms spores only have one really good spot where they can be killed to be able to finish new life and maybe actually be able to save some time. (Gene had the red sporty cap when he finished the race) 2. I duo'd with a friend during my practices to make the killing quest a lot easier and we only managed to get 13:40 as a record for ourselves. In the 4 hours we spent. (This time could have been a lot better if we disbanded our party when we started to grind and the person with Red Snail kills only would level the fastest) 3. The fastest time I achieved alone with the route we planned is 12:50 (And that was me only getting to level 10 and not taking the walk all the way to the boat. _____________________________________ My route goes as follows: Click NPC Do Quest Quiz Add AP (while walking) Get Quest Complete Quest while walking to Maria Add AP (while walking) Walk all the way to Stan Complete all of Mai's Quest (Make sure Three Snails is level 3 since it makes killing the pigs a lot easier (Use red shells you get from killing the 5 Red Snails on the other quest she gives)) Add AP every level Grind in the top left portal of Mais (Killing Snails and making Red Snails the biggest target) Leave at level 9 with 32 EXP Use Nimble Feet to run to Stan Complete Quest and go into Cash Shop Nimble Feet to Yoona's Map Use Cash Shop Complete Bari's Quest Run to boat Finish _________________________________ AP + Skill Build: Full STR just like we had to do during the event. 3 points into Nimble Feet. 3 points into Three Snails (Very useful to use on killing the pigs)
The majority of the people who completed the event collected all the quest items (mushroom spores, etc) some MP potions and a couple hundred red snail shells prior to the event. So yes he had "some help." When I did Mai's training I was dual clienting and using a mule to help me kill the monsters to save time walking across the map. His time was done during the event, so there were people watching him do it. I agree he should need a video to stay on the boar, but a completely empty board is boring, so post something up to replace him.
Then clearly his score shouldn't be recorded at all and people should not aim to beat his score since his score is going to be next to impossible to beat because he 100% got outside help. This challenge is solo so his score should not be counted at all.
It should be noted that Genechris did nothing wrong since my rules for the event were loose due to an inability to monitor effectively. But I left him on the board whilst i was temporarily thinking that assistance should be allowed, but I've resolutely re-changed my mind to the no assistance rule, and he shall henceforth be removed from the board. I did in fact have video evidence, though, since I had recorded the event on my character GossCam, but unfortunately people finished before I had thought they would and Gosscam wasn't with my alt client "FinishLine" when Genechris reached the finish. But as my mouse went off the screen of the recording, I knew that I was switching to my other client as a result of seeing someone finish. I added 5 seconds to that time, so the time is either accurate or a couple seconds late. Not that it matters, really. tldr Edit: That cat <3
I gathered 50 of each snail shell, made sure i had the items for the quest and ran through the maps to complete the quest and killed EVERYTHING in my path. I would use "ccing" to my advantage since it would put me on the opposite end of the map which greatly increased my time. If they rules stated that i couldn't do this than i wouldn't have... But i played by the rules and i think, under these circumstances, my time should still count. I played by Gossamer's rules.
That counts for the race I held, but for this thread, the rules are a bit different. And I added the last rule so people can't cc to teleport. That just makes it more glitchy and less fun.
I have a huge issue with this. Just my opinion however, you should have the time end as soon as the screen starts fading black. Reason for this is the time it'll take to land in Lith is dependent on server response time and the processors of the speed runner's computer. Don't you want as little secondary factors to be in place as possible? (obviously the video has to show the player talking to the NPC that get's you to lith first before the screen magically starts fading.)
Only rules should be the game rules (no hacking) and no outside help at all or no interactions with any other character What I mean by that is you can cc in appropriate maps to try and get there as fast as possible. That way the most "skilled" players will win the challenge.
when i was making some fame mules i thought it'd be interesting to time it Spoiler there's no split specifically for leaving Southperry nor is there any video proof i'd guess it was something like 14:30?
