What we are about​

I'm sure most of you have seen the threads and discussion on the forums revolving around HP washing, and I'm taking a sort of bullheaded approach to show playing an unwashed character that isn't a warrior or buccaneer is not only possible... but well possible and doable. All normal play rules apply (This isn't Ironman), I will be voting for NX to get a pet, and transferring some equips, partying with people, and will use HB and or HP equips to get a zakum helmet at 50. I will not be leveling with INT, or adding any INT (outside of what will be obtained from general equips like Z-Helm, Dep Star, etc)

If anyone would like to join me in this journey, feel free to make a character and post here. The guild has the base number of slots, so if anyone would like to join let me know (however this is not a guild recruitment page!). I don't really have plans to expand it unless there's a lot of interest. Any unwashed players that currently exist are more than welcome to post as well!

I also want to clarify, this is not an attempt to pursuade people that washing is bad, or that it should be removed from the game entirely. This is just to show people that it is not required to wash to finish most major bosses and achieve most milestones. And it's also a fun project while I accumulate NX on my pirate to wash him to 30k

Q: Can I play any class?

A: Of course!

Q: But what about Warriors and Mages?

A: The goal is not to eliminate classes that are easy to wash or don't need to wash as much. But to eliminate the daunting and challenging task of heavily washing. If you like mages, make a mage. If you want to bash snails in with a hammer, all the power to you my friend.

Q: Mules?

A: The idea here is to not segregate yourself from the rest of your accounts/playstyle. If you have a HS mule, you are more than welcome to use it. Have a store mule. Succaneer SI mule? Sure.

Q: What about leeching?

A: This one boils down to... not honor... but, it's not really in the spirit. Anyone can self leech or leech a class to 120+. Washing, or not washing, just grinding it out is an achievement. All classes become playable without washing (no INT heavy weaklings). Will we kick you out if you leech? No, but its really a disservice to yourself. Have some fun. Grind.

Good luck Evan. And I don't think anyone was saying that HP washing was mandatory, they were just stating that you kind of need too if you want to get taken seriously for end game boss runs. I have friends who won't even consider taking a shadower to HT because you can't ME most of it and our main attack skill is low damage. An unwashed range character would be a massive no. That would require taking a DK along, which means more people you have to split the loot with. Most groups want around 3 people for a zak/krex run. And for HT, they want a party of NLs, with 1 MM/BM and 1 bishop. You might get lucky and be taken as a warrior if they need a sed mule. But a lot of bishops bring their own SI mule with nothing but AP in HP for that. GG

 

That's precisely why I'm doing this.

There are people who think washing is required, and there are people who say it's not efficient/not worth bringing an unwashed character. That boils down to personal preference and not wanting to split loot or exp (essentially greed, no offense). GMS had limited washing due to the cost and bosses were taken down daily by all classes. Just because people want small parties with NL and mules does not mean it's the only correct way and the goal is to change the perception that not washing a character is a waste of time.

I also want to point out for the longest time CB were the kings of Zak (Anyone remember sleepywood? lol). They're not so great at HT (whether as CB or Shadower), but other classes are better. Mages can farm well and NL cannot. Every class has their strengths and weaknesses and by not washing, all those niche classes get to shine at a myriad of places throughout the leveling experience.

 

I know people who didn't wash and still get to go bossing with HB. Guess hp washing only provides a certain level of comfort so you don't have to be worrying about dying so easily. One thing is for sure though: YOU'LL GET TO ENJOY PLAYING YOUR CLASS! YAY YOU! Go do it!

 

Yes, which is why all classes felt balanced in GMS. People chose their classes based off what was the most fun, and all classes could shine at different levels and in different maps. However, since Royals has increased experience rates, the classes who shine at end game content (NL, BM, Hero, Bishop) are much more favored. The lack of end game content 120+ compared to 1-120 doesn't help this issue.

Back on the topic of HP Washing, it only serves to further break the community and push it to an end game focused meta. Leeching has effectively replaced training because it has a high supply and demand fueled by HP washing, rendering early game content obselete. Sure, HP Washing has some positives. It allows for more depth and reward for planning and creating your characters. But does HP Washing actually make Royals more fun, or does it just appeal to elitists and highly competitive players?

The hard part is thinking of a solution that is fair to old and new players. I do not think completely removing HP washing would be the optimal solution. But, I believe solutions are out there, and it's just a matter of imagination and implementation. For those of you who may be missing the point and jumping to conclusions: I am not lazy, selfish, and I do not want HP washing to be reconsidered simply for my own sake. I just care a lot about Royals and believe it could be a better game than it is today.

 

Can I join and make an unwashed Mage?
