Hello Everypony! As some of you may know, I normally do posts on things that may give the Paladin a leg up and make them more appealing. I recently made a Buccaneer (because the are totally AWESOME!) only to find out they have no REAL method of damage reduction at all. Outside of washing, there's only the unimportant defense and Magic Defense increase from their transformations which aren't viable at all. I was wondering if anything... Could the defenses the transformations do reduce damage they receive by a set percentage rather than by points, because we all know defense increases by points have little if no effect at all on survival rate. (not noticeable one anyway) I know many would argue that this is to keep warriors as the tanks of the classes, but Buccaneer has NONE. I mean their transformations are already limited to their cool down time. It's one of the only classes I feel that MUST wash to have a chance to take on dangerous bosses when we all know washing shouldn't be a mandatory thing. I would love to hear some feedback on more experienced Buccaneers on this one. It was just an idea to make their transformation more useful aside from unlocking additions to their offensive pool.
As much as I'd like to agree, Buccs already have good survivability thanks to their iFrames (Barrage, Demolition, Corkscrew Blow, and Sommersault Kick.)
I'm aware of the i I'm aware of the iframes, but the specific reason I mention this is due to Demolition. It really leaves them wide open once the animation is done and bosses and mobs don't actually attack until that animation is complete.
the bubble doesn't reduce damage taken, I'm afraid. It could be a glitch, but far as Ican see we only damage something within the bubble's space.
Sairs and archers need defense a lot more. Sair has low hp, very bad avoid and no defensive skills at all. Defense would also help them a lot cause of the ship breaking. Archers also have low hp, mediocre avoid and no defensive abilities except puppet and their long range which doesn't help much in bossing since you get hit anyway. All the other classes except them have much better defenses: warriors have a lot of hp and pg/achilles, mages have magic guard, thieves have high avoid and shadow shifter, buccs have more hp and iframes.
Sairs are the number 1 dps though, above NLs and Bms are required for SE so I think that makes up for their losses
Yes, you do have a point there Maylin @Browertime it is true compared to our tanky warrior cousins, buccs have pretty low durability. Not sure if anything can be done about that though but i'm always down for bucc buffs! The best thing I can suggest you though is to time your iframes right around the bosses attack animations. I know it may seem hard & you might get hit sometimes but trust me with enough practice like @Buccaneer said you can avoid getting hit and or reduce the number of times you get hit drastically!
The low avoid and defense actually makes Sair a lot weaker than NL (unless the NL has no SE) on bosses that actually hit you (like zak, ht etc). You get interrupted often by getting hit and your ship breaks. Sair is only slightly stronger in krex/anego etc which doesn't really make up for it. NL also have high mobility with haste and fj, and 15 minutes apple/gelt. The only big advantage sair has is not needing SE. As for archers, bishops are required for HS and other buffs too yet they have much better defense with mg and invincible
