Guys I think the recent replies are not so relevant to the topic of this thread (and I apologize for being a part of it in some of my replies too). Please keep the discussion relevant to high-level (remedial) HP washing. Thoughts about whether or not HP washing is a bug / glitch in nature, class balance, and other irrelevant aspects of HP washing may be better discussed elsewhere. Thanks
Actually nowadays there's no cap from what I heard so modern GMS is out of the equation. In between the HP washing era and the pre-no cap era, getting maxed stats wasn't even possible. I'd argue it takes more effort in learning how to play your class instead of of having 30k/30k and tank everything. Feel free to disagree. Oh, and talking about modern GMS, even though there's no more caps, bosses's damage does a % of your HP instead of a fixed number, so no matter if you have 10k HP or 100k HP, its the same. While here, having 30k HP makes everything a lot easier than if you had 6k HP. Np! I just wanted to clarify some misconceptions before leaving.
So hp washing is fine because it requires effort and buying hp isn't fine since it doesn't. Having the ability to wash other stats is not fine since it makes royals op like other servers however we can already wash one stat which covers the weaknesses of the most popular class which lowers party class variety, parties pick only dps washed ranged classes, but if the other stats can be washed as long as in your words "effort" Is required then why is that a bad thing? And if you decide its not an effort issue and hp itself is fine whats wrong with buying hp/mp from an npc.
Making HP completely purchasable without the need to actually put in points to base INT actually makes the process cheaper for those who don't "plan ahead". Imagine being able to wash to 30k HP and you didn't even put in the points to INT to make that possible. You are effectively saving yourself upwards of 6B mesos (roughly the cost to remove the 396 extra points of INT if you had went 400 base int to wash to 30k). If you really want to get into it, I had to plan what I was going to actually wash with each level from 30-70. Because I HP washed until I was out of MP and then MP washed til I could HP wash again. To actually effectively HP wash and make it cost as little as possible, planning is everything. From 71-135 I completely MP Washed because I had reached over 300 base int and thats a good starting point to MP Wash. Once you're done with the levels from 30-70, its easy, but don't act like people don't have to think about HP Washing for more than just a second by deciding an INT Base and calling it a day. That being said, if they were to make HP Washing for mesos only, you should only be able to wash +4k HP extra max. It gets you to a good point in HP level, but it will not ruin the work of the people who have washed the original way.
The points proposed by OP were to make HP washing doable at higher levels, but at equal or greater costs to HP washing from level 1. You don't just get to save 6b mesos because you don't need to wash out 400 int, because the HP gaining method would cost more than that by design! Going into the planning phase, it took literally did take me 20 minutes (using @Shiyui 's great calculator) to figure out that I needed to get 310 base INT, and MP wash from level 72 to 135 in order to get enough MP to be have enough MP to be 30k viable. I even got numbers for 10k HP (210 base int, no washing) and 13k HP (160 base int and MP wash from 111 - 135). Even if you had to spend 2 hours deciding when to MP wash, when to stop adding INT, etc, it's still a tiny fraction of the total time needed to achieve HP washing. The vast majority of time spent on HP washing is gathering the mesos to do it, and this proposal specifically states that it should have equal or greater costs.
Looking at this HP washing at high level suggestion from another angle. If this is a thing where you can wash later and still achieve high hp at a higher cost, I believe this will promote traditional training, grinding party, PQing, and just people doing stuff together again like the old school Maple.
a night lord was my first class here on royals and i have been playing on this server for a long time. on that same night lord i have several quests completed, the beginnings rings (given to the players who made a character within the first couple days of the server relaunching after a wipe) and many memories. suffice to say i have a bit of attachment to that character, having devoted a lot of my time leveling him up to 4th job without leeching (that horrendous second job of spamming L7).. I had been playing this character for a while but with the meta as it is, i am essentially "dead weight" as i am a liability to any serious boss runs, which is ultimately my main focus as a NL. I have the funds and means now to hp wash a new character (made a bishop like everybody else) but would that really be in the best interest for me time wise? I have in a way put in the time as well but things have obviously changed and i feel as if my time was almost wasted due to the environmental changes on this server with this optimization power creep, mules, and what have you. I understand that people have put in hours and hours of work and preparation into their hp washing goals, collecting the funds necessary. If this were to be implemented, (with restrictions such as those mentioned in this thread) i think this would be a giant step forward in improving the QoL in our server. I cannot be the only one who has made a high level character only to give up on them because they are not able to hp wash them. This implementation would provide great incentive for players to keep playing, keep voting, and keep enjoying what maple royals has to offer. Please consider this alternative to players who have been playing on this server before the stigma of low hp was ever an issue.
Well I always enjoy levels 1-120 and was especially disappointed when I had to skip it because having a high base int character just isn't fun and at some point impossible to level up without leeching. Therefore I decided to have two characters of the same class. One that I will level normally up to 120 without leeching and raising any int on it, and quit at 120 And the other which I will Only leech and hp wash. It might be a bit more time consuming and I might not follow through with it, but I'll have my cake and eat it too.
I want to bring some attention to this thread again, due to the high volume of recent discussion about HP washing and AP reset prices. I modified the proposals a lot in response to the feedback I received (thanks everyone for giving feedback!). Please check it out again even if you have read this thread before. In particular, I commented on the concerns brought up by @Matt and @Evan that the proposed changes will harm the status of Dark Knights and HB. My comments can be found in "Concern 5". If you guys have some free time, please re-evaluate my modified proposals. It is clear that HP washing, leeching, and inflation are causing a lot of tension in this server. I believe my modified proposal will ease some of this tension without serious side-effects.
