I wasn't sure where to put this thread, so I'll start in General Discussion as I feel it won't do so much harm here, as if I had placed it wrongly somewhere else. A few days ago, I went to do trio Zak with some people. It was me, a MM and a NL as the attackers + a priest/bishop to HS us. When arms died, MM died from the spawn of B1. Me and NL continued (quite bothered). However, when B1 was dead and a bit over half of B2, the NL died as well. Bishop thought it was a failed run (which it was) so he left. Now, I'm alone with Zak at around 130~150m HP left. What should I do? Well, I decided I might as well continue at this state. Things went on rather slowly, and I realized my All Cure Potions will probably run out, and this will cause me to fail. However, when B3 was somewhere below 50% HP, and I had less than 15 ACPs left, something weird happened! ...Zakum stopped all his activity! He stoppped attacking, stopped casting seal, stopped dropping stun, stopped summoning mobs. This was clearly a glitch, but honestly it came as a gift from heaven to me (when I fight Zak, I'm basically in hell, right?). Yeah so this was unexpected. Now, what I did next is what probably many others would do too. I finished Zakum - probably the smoothest solo Zak ever. My goal with this thread is two things: 1: Report this a glitch, have someone look into the cause. 2: Ask the community, as well as staff, if this is considered Glitch Abuse? Luckily, the drops were nothing interesting. Had Genesis 20 dropped, what would I have done? I don't know. But at this point, I'm willing to return whatever gains I got from this Zak (altough it was a huge net because of all the Heartstoppers used) Short summary for people who don't like to read: Zakum froze -> EZ solo -> Glitch abuse?
I don’t think this can be consider as glitch abuse or a bug. After a certain time zak stops attacking and summoning mobs, its likely that your solo took long enough for it to stop its activity jajaja Edit: I believe the people that have soloed zak can tell right?
Oh, that's interesting! Yes it took very long. ~mapowner was something over 1 hour when I finished it. Is it possible that this happens exactly 1 hour after Zakum spawns?
I can’t really tell, some of solos trigger zak not to do anything and some don’t. I just think is pure luck idk
I did solo zakum once(1 hour 34 mins),around 50% HP of body3 it stopped all its activities, the last 10 mins was smooth af like bms solo krex.
I believe zakum runs out of MP after a certain point. I was in a 3 man zakum run that lasted 2h 18m. Zakum stopped casting spells at around 2h 10m. I’d say this just happens if you’re in there for long enough.
not really sure how you can leverage it lol. unless you're gonna suck all it's mp with a mage, it takes an hour+ for it to run out naturally
MP Eater currently doesn't (Or shouldn't, if it is for some people) work on bosses. Only way I can see how he uses this to his advantage is that he goes AFK while Zakum continues to spam his skills, then by the time he comes back, Zakum runs out of MP so he can smoothly finish of the run. The duration from the the time he enters the Altar to the time he leaves it would be longer than a normal run, but the amount of time he's actually playing should be less.
There is nothing on the skill description that says it shouldn’t work on bosses, unless I’m missing something, it should work. Ofc this is up for a test
Indeed it doesn't say, but just like some other effect skills or DoTs, they didn't work on bosses until at least Post Big Bang. But if were talking about Royals specifically, I think MP Eater might work here as it can be seen in Martin's Bishop Zakum solo. As we can see, pass a certain point Zakum stops attacking, but that's also probably simply because the run went on too long. Just like the people here^ say that Zakum stopped attacking, in that run it might be the same case and not MP Eater working. I know from personal experience that for shorter runs Zakum never stopped attacking. Maybe because I didn't do enough damage, but if you look at the %s of MP Eater and Zakum's total MP, it shouldn't take much damage to suck it out completely either.
Yes, it seems so. According to hidden street, bodies 1 and 2 have 30K and 35K respectively while arms have 18K each.
I'm not too sure but the theory of zakum running out of MP should be fairly accurate. I remember soloing zak multiple times in the early era of new source where everyone else dced except my drk. Back then, I experienced 2 different scenarios. 1. Run progressed enough before others' DCs which made me progress to body 3 then Zakum stopped attacking. 2. Everyone dced at arms and I soloed from arms and obviously it took very long. However in this situation, Zakum stopped attacking toward end of B2. As I feared when B2 was killed, B3 started spamming attacks once again. My guess is that there were a lot of weapon cancels in b2 of scenario 2 and eventually B2's mp ran out but when B3 was spawned, it had fresh MP to start spamming again.
