Matt, I suggest you don't give -990p deductions for a single post.

990p corresponds to new 495 posts. You not only wiped my whole experience and put me in the red for months to come, but then you also laughed in my face about it.

The irony is I got the punishment for being rude... You laughing in my face about my punishment is not rude?

You took away my happiness, I hope you are happy about it. Double irony!

And Yeah to the few that missed it, LV. 173! ~cry

I'm not being sarcastic here when I ask, who here actually cares about the points you have on the forums? To me, it's something extra that clutters the forum and I would not be opposed to removing it. The infraction serves more as a warning before getting banned than a way to take away points ala Hogwarts.

I didn't even know we had point's until I got the PM! But now that I know, I care. Because that's what I do, I care about stuff! (except my flowers at home)

This is perhaps the most idiotic thing I have ever heard a GM say. Go ahead and take away my points for this, but seriously? This is why I don't think people should just join and be GMs immediately. LEARN A LITTLE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOR GOD'S SAKE. Matt has always held the forums in the highest regard and things on here have always been very serious to him. Jesus, an advancement on the forums is the only tangible incentive for donating. I would not be opposed to removing you.

Since you've posted this in the feedback section, I assume you're looking for feedback from any/all of us, not just Matt and the other GMs.

For what it's worth, here's my opinion on the subject. I do think the infraction seemed very harsh, in a "this is a warning; next time you're banned" way. Yes, you were rude to GM Faye, given that, however strongly you disagreed with her decision, she was simply doing her job by upholding/enforcing game rules. As far as I can tell, she didn't do anything that was unprofessional or an abuse of her power.

I think it's fair that you received an infraction for being rude to a GM. However, I'm very surprised at the severity of the infraction given that you don't deliberately cause trouble on the forum, didn't swear at Faye and don't normally behave in a rude, abusive or disrespectful way towards either members of staff or other players. You felt very strongly about the subject being discussed and reacted angrily to something you considered to be unfair and unreasonable.

I've been very slow in trying to put my thoughts down clearly on the subject, and while I've been typing, David has posted angrily towards GM John in this thread and by the looks of it, also received a hefty points infraction.

I think that, under the circumstances, it's not unreasonable to ask for a clarification, and, where appropriate, a review of forum rules and forum-related penalties. There may be a list of forum rules somewhere, but I'm afraid I don't know where to look to find it, which I don't think should be the case.

I'd like to suggest putting the forum rules in a post directly above or below the ingame rules and putting a link to both posts under the FAQ header. Also, please could we have a list of current forum penalties so we all know where we stand and so that we can have an informed discussion on the subject?

Saki got a 10 point infraction which lasts 1 month. You need to acquire 30 infraction points for a 3 day ban. I was not aware that infractions cause a loss of these so called 'Experience Points'. So I don't think this infraction was harsh. But as John said, yes I am thinking of getting rid of the 'Experience' system as it is not very useful.

What do I not know about the community? I know how Matt views the forums as I talk to him daily for hours upon hours working on improving the server for THE COMMUNITY. I'm highly offended that you even implied that I am not here for the betterment of this community.

And for the record, I never said anything about removing incentives for donating such as changing membergroups and the added privileges that come with it. I only hinted at my desire for those experience points to be removed as I do not see it as a beneficial asset of the forums.

This explains a lot Matt. But now you know how hard your punishment was.

Yes I wanted to raise awareness about this issue and get feedback.
Also about the forum rules, I haven't found them either so it's a good suggestion we have them in a separate post visible in the forum and maybe in the FAQ section.

It's actually better to have GMs come from outside of the server rather than inside. I've seen it happen on other servers where the players become GMs and start funding their friends on the server and ban their enemies or log on to other peoples' accounts and take their stuff. If the GMs mess up here it's made public and delt with unlike on other servers where you'd get banned for mentioning it even in a polite and fair way. Then if they get fired there's no mention why.

Whether it's justified or not, taking away meaningless points or getting a 3-day ban with a chance to appeal is nothing to complain about.

Maybe Matt would have picked more GMs from longer-standing members of the community if more of them actually showed the maturity to handle the position.

I think this thread is getting a bit out of hand and out of context. Enough has been said about the issue and in my opinion it should be left at this.
Saki's intend was never to start an argument like this.
I hope everyone can understand that continuing to argue will lead to nothing but more arguments.

    Peace, love and rainbows please.
