Bump, did you know for a long time Disney didn't own the copyrights to Star Wars IV? Fox had it. It's the same reason for why a lot of the comic book movies have weird cross-overs or lack of uniformity, the comic book publishers sold off the rights to different movie studios way back in the 50s to 70s, and only recently have the movie studio began re-consolidating. That's why Marvel's slating out a whole bunch of movies, they've started buying up the rights again.
