1b coin's tax should be on the receiving end, not the one trading it away

Personally, i just feel that for shop transactions, sellers pay the tax for the convenience they get (basically just put a shop in fm and wait for money to roll in). On the other hand, the seller could still list item X as 1b30m if they wish to. Any lower than that means they are trying to sell competitively as owls could always show you the cheapest offer easily.

Also, I would like to remind that "buyer cover the tax" practice is a choice, not a server wide norm. I've personally never used this practice in my trades, whether it was me being the seller, or as the buyer; and I've bought a lot of hundred of millions worth of items that sellers do not require me to cover the tax.

What I would suggest to change in this 1b coin system are the followings:
    • No mesos deduction after the trade to both parties
    • 1b coin becomes untradeable after being traded. Players are still able to move these coins around the storage of the same account, but no longer be able to trade them to another player.
    • Owner of untradeable 1b coins will receive 970m instead of 1bil when they sell it to NPC (this is the 3% tax part)
    • Players will still be able to purchase 1b coin from Albert for 1bil mesos, and free to resell to Albert for 1bil mesos in return. Only untradeable 1b coins that were traded will receive the 3% tax deduction
I do not know if this is within the client's limitation or not, and I hope some admin or staff could verify this.

The whole point of alternative currency is exactly that: a form of currency to work around the issue of the meso limit.

So why flip the tax burden? Why make this entire process so unnecessarily confusing? Why introduce opportunities for exploitation (as mentioned by the OP)? It just doesn't make sense to me and I would like to hear the Staff's logic on this decision.

This is somewhat feasible, however the recipient of the coin would need to receive a different item, for example a "Billion Meso Coin (Used)" when being traded the "Billion Meso Coin". There isn't a way to make an item become untradable after being traded. This method could add an extra bit of difficulty when wanting to convert into normal Billion Meso Coins, for example if you receive 10 Billion Meso Coin (Used) in a trade, you would need to NPC 2, then buy 1 Billion Meso coin, NPC another used coin, then buy a 1 Billion Meso coin, etc. It is an interesting idea nonetheless and one I will keep in mind.

I don't think it's confusing, I feel it's explained very clearly in the item description how it works. Nor do I see any exploitation opportunities. One of the main reasons it was done this way is because it would seem strange for a player to be required to have mesos in their inventory when they go to sell an item in exchange for coins. Let's say you are a new player and you gach a godly item worth 5b, you would then be required to have 150m mesos on your character to be able to sell the item, and so there would be scenarios where players are unable to sell an item until they gain enough mesos to do so, and that just doesn't seem right. Why should you be required to have X money to sell an item?

I also believe that there isn't a difference in who is getting taxed. If I wanted to receive 1 billion pure mesos in a trade for an item, I would ask the buyer to put in 1,030,000,000 mesos. If I wanted to receive a billion meso coin for the item then the buyer just needs to put the coin in the trade. In both scenarios the buyer is losing 30m mesos. The same can be applied to buying items in the free market, when you buy an item the tax is included in the price and so the buyer is paying the tax, so if you want to receive X mesos for an item you make sure to add on a bit extra to the price to cover the tax.

I didn't mean confusing in the sense that the description is hard to understand, I meant confusing in the sense that the process is inherently counterintuitive to how meso trades work. When most people sell an item for 1 billion mesos in a trade, they don't calculate the tax beforehand and place the onus on the buyer to offset the tax burden. If I'm not mistaken, I presumed the whole point of BMC was to introduce a form of alternative currency that simply serves to work around the meso limit and not require players to invest in volatile assets like WS/CS (based on previous Feedback discussion on the matter). As of now, a lot of players are still relying on WS/CS as calculating through the reverse tax burden of BMC is not worth the effort. If this was not your intended purpose for releasing BMC, then I suppose my original questions are moot.

Technically the system makes "sense." Everything just seems and feels counterintuitive, because essentially you are hit with the tax from the BMC in your future trades rather than your current trades. Hence confusing. At the same time, I understand the logic from your first example. And I'm all of a sudden hit with this wave of realization over why the Staff have been so reluctant for years to introduce alternative currency.

I also didn't mean exploitative in the sense that people will hack the system, I meant exploitative in the sense that players can use it to gain unfair (although this may not exactly be the right word for it tbh) advantages. Specifically, I was referring to this from the original post: "The main flaw of this system is that the seller can gain mesos without any form of tax infinitely if he sells the coin to NPC, gets 1bil in mesos, buys CS/WS, repeat. No tax at all." Essentially working around the BMC's system of future tax rather than present tax.

I could just be flat out wrong too. Do most other people also ask the buyer to pay up for the tax when they sell items? Have I been scamming myself out of mesos all these years?

The thing is, being able to avoid tax depends on cooperation from other sellers. Meaning, there needs to be a supply of people who are willing to make purchases with the coin, but there also needs to be a subset of people who accept ws/cs for items instead (while not accounting for the tax burden in their pricing.)

Well the tax could also just remove 30m from the buyer's inventory at the end of a trade, and fail if the buyer doesn't have the money. If the buyer isn't able to cover the tax, the seller could also trade an additional 30.3m meso to in addition to the coin to counteract the tax.

I initially thought it was a bad idea too, but, with VIP HT costing 1bil, it's perfect for that and the sellers don't have to mess around with tax, so for me just that reason alone is enough for it to stay on the person giving the 1b coin paying the tax!

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I just started playing on this server about 3weeks ago and I also think the 1bil coin needs to be changed so the seller gets taxed. It would seem the one thing you fail to see is that consistency is very important. You're right that it doesn't matter if the buyer or the seller gets taxed as long as its always one or the other and the entire trading system follows that rule. But it has to be one and only one you can't have both. It makes the 1 bil coin very confusing because you're doing the same action and receiving different results, which doesn't make alot of sense. Oh and one more thing if a new player some how did get a 5bil item from a gachapon they'd end up selling that item for way less then 5bil because they wouldn't know the price of the item. So I don't think that's a good enough excuse to flip the trading system upside down when 1bil coins are being used. So please change this for the sake of consistency and the health of the game.

If that's the case then what really is the point of tax at all?
    No tax = Everyone happy

Have you ever wondered why we have mesos taxes in the first place? So, whatever
