My name is Thane and I'm a frequently returning player since about 2007. I only became an on-again-off-again player since the BB update when they changed Maplestory forever. I'll always hold on to the nostalgia of the rewarding feeling of grinding away for levels and meeting some of the best friends I've ever had online. So I'm glad to be back on v62 (my favorite!) with MapleRoyals. I've been part of this server before, but not for a while.. I follow updates on Facebook, so when a recent post popped up, I was tempted to check it out again! Hopefully I get a chance to meet some awesome, new friends while I'm here to tempt me to stay for a while Here's a picture of me and my puppy Henry, to put a face to a name!! Here's a bit more history for anyone who has the time to read.. so Maplestory was a huge part of my becoming.. It accounts for hours upon hours logged in my life, and I don't regret a single second of being online. Growing up, I knew I was homosexual. For a while. But I grew up in a small town that was heavily religious, and I was afraid to admit who I was to anyone. Even my parents, who almost found out when I was in about middle school, and my dad went on a rant about how homosexuals are freaks and all deserve to die.. Those words hit me hard because obviously he was also indirectly referring to me. Maplestory gave me a safe-haven, a place to be myself and not fear what would happen if I told someone who I really was. I mean, it's kinda hard to throw a brick or stone at someone you don't agree with through your computer screen.. (I also wouldn't recommend trying...) I met some amazing people who knew about me and it didn't effect how they thought of me or how they treated me. We played together nearly every day and built an unbreakable friendship that I believe will last us for the rest of our lifetimes. This experience saved me from making horrible decisions growing up, and helped me cope with the depression about having to lie to everyone about who I was. My time and friends on Maplestory saved me from depression. From eating disorders. From eating self-harm. And at one point, from taking my own life. I hit absolute rock bottom trying to deal with and understand my sexual preference and why so many people hated me for it. Yet my friends always took the time to talk to me and help me find solutions that would provide the best outcomes. We would find a private place in Maplestory and just chat for hours.. Those maps we hung out in will always remain some of my favorite places, for the environment, the enemies, and the soundtrack related to those areas ^.^ So I will always have a special place in my heart for Maplestory and how I remember it. Therefore I want to especially give a HUGE thanks to everyone who had/has anything to do with the creation and upkeep of this server! And for those who actually took the time to read all of this, thank you Now lets play!!
