This 3100 cost is absurd considering how many new players make mistakes, and considering how many AP resets are necessary in order to HP/MP wash.
I can already hear the angry screams of players who have painstakingly saved their nx for years to HP wash. To that I say "out with the old and tedious, and in with the new and enjoyable experience."
Isn't it better to stimulate more population by making something so ridiculously tedious a thing of the past rather than hold on to it for the sake of those who've already suffered with it?
This could actually attract players and make existing players who are thinking of leaving NOT leave because of the tediousness involved.

I know HP/MP washing can't be eliminated since it's already a part of so many player's character's builds. I wish it could be eliminated since it's literally taking advantage of an old game flaw/bug, but that would be too much work at this point. So why not lower the damn prices on AP resets? People have plenty of things to spend NX on as it is.

I've heard the argument "but it's optional. You don't have to do it". Well when people expect you to do it because most of the population already does take advantage of this game bug, not doing it is like asking to be shunned. Sure not everyone would shun you, but I've literally seen people say "30K or gtfo". What does that tell you?
Of course most people will feel obligated to HP/MP wash.

    How it is now:
I'm leveling with my friend. I level up. "Oh I ran out of NX. Better halt my progress for TWO DAYS STRAIGHT to save enough NX for 5 AP resets before I level again because I feel obligated to HP wash".

    How I wish it was:
I'm leveling with a friend. I level up. I easily afford the 5 AP resets needed. I continue leveling with my friend and continue enjoying the damn game.

Does this sound like an enjoyable gaming experience as it is now?

Just give everyone 30k hp/Mp at the start of making your character if you want to give away free ap resets or for 250nx.
    Problem solved ezpz.

Now can everyone stop crying about this “obligated hp washing thing” and just play the game like you want. ~f8

HP Washing is simple and easy. Just takes a bit of time and some finances (which you get 15b of per year). Have some patience and actually put in the work. Don’t expect to make a char and be able to do everything in a matter of days/weeks/months. Be patient and gradually attain what you need. Eventually you’ll get there, and it’ll actually feel like an accomplishment compared to if you were spoon fed like the OP suggests.

Don't try to twist my words, nosebleed! No one's asking to be spoonfed. I just want to be able to play with my friend constantly without having to be interrupted by two days of wait time for my AP resets.
I'm more than willing to put in hours of grinding and effort. I just don't want that work to be interrupted by stupid, unnecessary wait times.

How is this so unreasonable? I guess a lot of maplestory players already have some sort of sick stockholm syndrome for this kind of time wasting nonsense.
On LITERALLY any other mmo (I've played a lot of 'em), I'd be free to level with my friend to max level without feeling FORCED to take a break from leveling for TWO DAYS while we get some items as to not ruin our characters for endgame.
How bull is this? lol. It's insane.
Makes me want to switch to a server without washing. Or a diff game altogether where the community doesn't have such obvious masochistic standards.

He's saying spoonfed because you want to reduce the price to the point where you can get 12 AP resets a day instead of 2.

Now.... washing has been possible since GMS, since the first years of the game in general. HP washing isn't required. If you want to boss on characters earlier than you would normally, or do so without HB, that's a choice you have to make. Nothing is stopping you from leveling with your friend without HP washing.

However, just because other MMO's don't have HP washing... doesn't mean it's wrong here. Most, also, have pitfalls, like how rogues are unable to tank in bossing encounters in WoW (Technically possible with a healer, but aggro man.) No one has to HP wash, but it allows you to do things alone (or easier) if you put in the effort.

but what is this extra effort you speak of? Waiting... literally waiting for two days to get enough NX for 5 AP resets.
That's not effort. It's waiting. I'm already willing to put in effort, like I said.
I know I'm not forced to HP wash. I feel obligated to though because I don't want my character at a disadvantage to others.

Most of the effort people face is the leveling with INT. If it's purely the fact that you're running out of AP resets because you're leveling too fast, you can always buy them from players... but it isn't cheap.

I was in this boat with my pirate. I'm looking at 12-15 resets per level. You can always build up the MP, and save money and wash the MP into HP at a later point. (which means to stay on track I only needed 5 AP resets per level and not 12+).

I just don't think it's a basis to drastically decrease the prices in the CS.

You can keep leveling. Just accumulate the AP and wash as you get more resets. Nobody said that you have to put in your AP right as you level - you made up that obstacle for yourself.

You are simply impatient, and yes, you are asking to be spoon fed by asking for AP Resets to become so easily accessible that a random joe schmo can come on the server and have no issue washing every level from day 1. What a challenge!

Grinding isn't the only thing that requires time and patience. Equips, HP, skills, skill books, NX, chairs, whatever your goals are - they all take time. Just because you're willing to grind doesn't mean that all other obstacles should be nullified for you. Great, you're willing to grind, but that's clearly all you're willing to do in terms of effort.

Again, you do not have to wait to continue to level up. You can grind and accumulate AP to wash as it becomes available to you. You can wash 75-80 times per month...for free. If that isn't enough, you can merch and purchase more for yourself. There are *always* options and alternatives, and plenty of other players have taken initiative and done just as I suggested. You, on the other hand, just aren't willing to do what it takes. You want things to become easier instead of seeing the challenge and accepting it the same way many of us other players have.

Yes, MapleStory players, especially low rate pre-BB players, don't want the game to be easy. We want a challenge. We want the same type of struggle that we faced on...dundundun....gMS.

    For the third time. You.do.not.have.to.wait.to.continue.to.level.up.

If HP washing isn't for you, then don't do it. You can still participate in nearly everything at some point or another. If it is, then work hard and HP wash just like the rest of us. We have no advantage over you. We started from the same point you did.

Maybe you should try SnowflakeMS instead. Heard you start with 30K HP and perfect equips, but don't worry, you can still 'grind with your friend' since that's the only obstacle you're looking to face while playing MapleStory.

but it reduces the quality of the experience for me, and my friend, and probably many others.
I bet lots of new players come into this game expecting one thing, seeing this HP washing stuff, and 3100nx price, and then turn 360 degrees and walk away.
What about the potential extra people I could have met and played with had they stayed?

Now, look at it from the perspective of players like myself who actually want a challenge and seek that when selecting a server. Same exact thing applies - Royals may miss out on attracting certain players by making the server easier. Not only that, but we'd miss out on attracting more hardcore players who devote far more time and contribute far more to the game economically than a casual looking to be spoon fed does.

For every person you missed out on meeting there's another you had the ability to meet.

If you did a 360 you wouldn't be walking away, you'd be walking in the same direction.

Here's a real suggestion, lower them to 2600 so you can buy 3 a day instead of 2. I'm not even sure that'd be a good thing, but it's certainly a lot more reasonable than 250/free. Like wtf? Free?

You almost made me do a spit-take with that remark! :xD:

On topic: to me, part of the fun of a game lies in the figuring out how to best reach the goals set, and the sense of achievement once those goals are achieved. Easier doesn't equal more fun to me.

Besides that, I don't like HP washing, so my solution was to just not do it. It doesn't "reduce the quality of the experience" for me. (Except perhaps a slight exasperation about the drama it can generate on the forum.)
