I don't believe Royals will ever reach a solution of equality for all classes because that may put us down the path with Nexon. As the game envolve, all the jobs got some sort of flash jump, all the jobs can get a crap load of HP, all the jobs can hit multiple lines of big massive damage, and all the jobs can solo any boss they want. This may be an extreme example of equality because at the end of that road all the jobs looks practically the same. Edit: Too Much Information TMI Spoiler: TMI I believe the game culture and game meta defines the class' and job's popularity. Not necessarily the job itself. I remember back in the day. I mean way back where 4th job didn't exist. People think bandits are really cool can hit 6 lines of damage, and hermit is cool they can hit 4 lines of damage and they have flash jump. Bandits and assassins were the most popular class for people in 2nd job, but as you get through the 3rd job hurdle, dragon knight and priest combo dominated the game. Reason being because the meta back then was grinding not bossing. For the longest time people walking around with zhelm were considered hacker because no legit players at the time can kill zakum. People spend 95% of the time grinding and leveling, and mixed in a little of bossing. That's why dragon knight and priest combo was by far the most common efficient grinding and leveling combo people use at "high" lvl (lv 80+). People do bossing parties then were strictly for fun not exp because it requires two full teams of attackers (exp split 12+ ways sucks) to take it down with low success rate. In MapleRoyals, the game meta shifted from grinding to bossing. People duo and trio a boss that was considered end game or even "impossible" back in GMS. Arrow class and Nightlord combo are the best combo for single target bossing. End game on MapleRoyals is basically 100% bossing. People rarely grind today. I am by no means saying we should change the game meta or saying bossing meta is bad. This is Royals not Nexon GMS. This HP/MP idea has many folds of implications such as all the discussion prior to this and it may promote grinding friendlier classes so maybe grinding parties to 200 will not be a rare sight, and the end game content may not be limited to just focused on the bossing since there is another reason to get to 200. Of course it is still a choice on how people wish to play the game. As mentioned above for players found out about hp washing after they invested time into their character may choose to restart, make mages, or, if this is implemented, continue their journey and have a second chance after they reach 200.
Right, obviously I don't mean that the jobs should be equal to that extreme, but having an 8b barrier to entry for some of them is very unbalanced and your solution only means having a different (equally or even more difficult) barrier to entry for bossing that the other jobs don't even need to worry themselves about at all. It's still like I said: "punishing players for picking their favorite job".
Understand. It takes a lot of time and effort regardless which path you choose if you want to reach end game. On the other hand, if it's too easy to achieve the game will be boring very fast and you cant maintain a healthy # of player base if the game is too easy. This idea suggestion is offering another way to reach "end game" achievable without leeching. By no means it's easy because it was never meant to be easier than what we have now.
I'm also not saying it should be easy. But for it to be hard and time-consuming for one job to reach a certain point, and for it to be extremely hard and insanely time-consuming for a different job to reach the same point is very unbalanced. It would be one thing if new players knew what they were getting into when picking their job, but most find out far past the point of no return. It's a shame because I love extra challenges that give you a later reward. But when that reward becomes the standard that everyone is held to, it no longer becomes an optional challenge.
I see your point. What I'm proposing isn't perfect by any stretch of imagination. Not a one size fits all solution/fix. It is just another suggestion with minimal impact to the current player base while providing a little more quality of life/play style than what we have today to people who wants to avoid leeching while still can reach end game with time and dedication. Agree that with end game goal being bossing without relying on HB in mind, making arrow and star class require more time, effort, and money than others. That's the MapleRoyals meta we have today.
Very true. When it comes to a solution, I really can't think of anything better. I definitely think yours would be a positive thing, especially if it brought some more life into early-mid game. If there is ever a server wipe (yikes), or better, some kind of spin-off server, I'd like to see how it would turn out with HP washing completely taken out of the game. Just to see if it becomes more like classic maple with crowded PQs and very minor leeching.
I Was thinking about it the other day, One of the worst aspects of royals these days IMO is the washing scenario on the server. I've been thinking about starting a Paladin for about three months, The thing that always stops me from doing that is how I know it would be a horrible experience all the way till 135 because of washing. I will also have to spend a lot of money on ap resets (the hell happened to the prices of ap resets anyway?!), delaying my gear progress by a lot. All of these drawbacks are annoying, and since other big servers have already found a solution to HP/MP washing in different ways, We should also give some answer to this hell that is going on. The server is becoming more and more "rich-friendly" and "anti-new players" with the rapidly growing inflation and the HP washing aspect. Please fix this asap for the sake of the community. I'd love to participate in any brainstorming conversation if anything like that ever comes up - I'd also be glad to think of solutions to those things, I want to know there's a demand for a resolution from the administrators and not only the community.
Please re read this post and discussion up until this point because I think you're not on topic or TLDR. The purpose of this thread is not justifying if HP washing is necessary, and it is not saying HP washing should be easier. If you think this is what my suggestion is, you've completely missed the point.
Sorry i went off topic, you’re correct and I digressed, and deleted as such since it was a waste of space. I feel like your idea is sound, in the sense if Matt wants to direct the server in that direction. If I’m correct, this server is labled as a nostlagia server ?
why should they keep their hp/mp... that would make it really easy, why should it be like that now? imo its fine as it is. they can just delete the character / create a new one with the same ign, and thats it. new chance to wash.
I don't believe getting a attacking character to lv 200 is easier than washing a character to 30k hp. I have done both multiple times, and leeching + washing is definitely easier so I disagree with you from my personal experience. Edit: I bet I can leech and wash two attacking class even arrow or thief class to 30k hp faster than you can grind one non washed attacker character to lv 200
i did grind to 200, my bm (I used it to leech my NL) washing costs mesos or nx. and imo thats how it should stay . getting the mesos takes time.
Getting a non wash character to 200, then get it back to 135 or 155 is no where near as easy as just get leech and wash it the traditional way. I recommend you to re read what I wrote and all the discussion up until this point. (For the 8th or 9th time) I am not trying to suggest replacing the current washing method or dictate how people should play this game. What Im proposing simply offer people flexibility on how they want to play it.
I totally agree that the Hp washing system in this game is a little too overwhelming especially for newcomers. You are almost forced onto a mage to get the funds required to fund your hp washing. I've come to the point where I've had to perma stop playing my attacker class and leech on my mage, and even then, leeching isn't really easy. You have to sit in one spot for 1 hour pressing one key to make a little over 1/10 of a bil, when you need 10's or 20's even 30's of bils depending on your desired hp goal. My main concern however, is that there's almost a point of no return. I'm sure there are some people that played for fun till around level 100 or 120, not really fully understanding hp washing. I just wish there were other options for people like that, as well as other options that lessen the enormity of wasting unfathomable amounts of time and money before you are actually allowed to play your character to the fullest. The idea of rebirthing at level 200 is a nice idea, as it breaks that permanent hp and mp barrier you are stuck with at level 200, however, it may be nice to think about how a decision like this will affect the game overall before coming to a final decision.
I voted no because no player wants to get to end-game just to start over so that they can experience end game the proper way (which is being HP washed). So really, player's still have no choice but to use this method of washing to get to end game. The point of alternatives to HP washing is to scrap HP washing all together in order to preserve the gaming experience and improve the new player gaming experience.
Why not fix the AP Resets price instead? It's a simpler solution that doesn't alter the game too much. Either by selling them from Albert for a set price (NX Sink that will turn into an amazing mesos sink instead) Or by reducing the NX price (Wouldn't add any mesos sink, but would reduce the price of ap resets). I prefer the idea of selling them from Albert for around 10m. It would fix the market immediately and provide a nice mesos sink. To prevent the use of ap resets as a tax-avoiding money transfer, it is possible to tax it the same way 1B Coins are taxed, where you take 3% of the value from the seller's wallet. So for each AP reset the trader will lose 300k.
Voted no. I hear what you're saying, but this server is for nostalgia purposes and a change like that takes away from the "charter" of the server. And for casual players like myself, AP Resets are a fantastic way to have a bit of income outside the regular game without it being game-breaking.
