With the enlightenment from recent Hitta's farewell thread, we once again realized how seriously RWT is affecting the economy of royals. Although it will be practically impossible to catch all the sellers and buyers involved in RWT due to missing drop logs, I believe the sellers with their hidden underground stores (mules full of op gears and weapons) can be caught once staff team make the input.

I would like to request for a full scene investigation of RWT through possible procedures mentioned below: with descending priority. It would require a lot of effort and time. I hope more GMs can be recruited and assigned with this task (with no autoban or auto detection system, it has to be done manually).

    1. Scan the Item ID for all the gears (Glove/Cape/Shoe) that are or above 20 weapon attack in characters excluding the banned ones.
Those who buy through RWT would most likely pay for something above this stat, otherwise it won't be really worth paying for in my opinion. If any low lvl character is found with one, its inventory can be scanned for further investigation.

    2. Scan all the HT runners (anyone who entered HT) for the past weeks if possible month(s). Check the date they joined/created 1st character and do a rough comparison with the accumulated wealth.
Of course there will be exceptions since some people get exceptionally lucky or vice versa, but there will be obvious ones who stand out. As one can see from Hitta's case, almost every RWTer purchase op gears and AP resets to run end game bosses (I mean...otherwise why would they pay hundreds of $ to buy pixel weapons?). Hence I believe most heavy RWT people would be found running HT.

    3. Scan for perfect weapons.
    - As the last resort but not really viable since there are too many in the server. Maybe few low lvl characters will be found possessing too many of them?

I don't know if staff attempted anything related to this idea before but I think we are in a critical situation. We NEED to fight against RWT. I hope staff will consider this proposal.

    bring back autoban too please

and i think that while the worry of losing too much playerbase is a valid one, it's offset by having a more manageable and stable economy that's probably going to be easier for new casual players to settle into.

I may be wrong, but here is what I've gathered from all the readings I have done on the forum. There are three ways majority of the RWTers do to get mesos:

    1. Vote abuse with tons of mules and sell ap resets. Then they will buy ws/cs with those money and buy high value item for RWT or just sell the APR/WS/CS for money.
    2. Botting/hacking with vacuum or something similar with tons of characters to generate insane amount of mesos each day. Then they will buy out ws/cs to buy high value items or sell the ws/cs for money straight.
    3. Dope items/mesos (actually not familiar with how they do it since I haven't found an article on the forum with this as topic).
Maybe if Royals can implement a flagging system in place to monitor the following abnormal activities:

    1. Amount of ws/cs used at regular basis.
    2. Amount of mesos gain through NPCing items.
    3. Amount of AP resets stocked. (Assume vote abusers typically pool all the APR at one location/character to sell)
    4. System flagged or even do a server wide announcement with the character's IGN when a high value glove cape shoes was made.
Just some of my random thoughts...

Why is losing all the RWTers from the player base an issue?

Based on the past forum post, hacker farm like 5b+ per day per character at unpopular farming maps. I don't think you make that much based on how fast (slow) it takes you to pay me back LOL.

Rwters makes the rest of royals feel like they are nothing... especially on new players (they think they MUST get these items in order to be accepted)... My point is they raise the bar for other players.

These gears include perfect weapons, 20+atk gears and many more...

I would like to think things like RWT is at the top of their list for things to fix and that it's just so hard to deal with it. They mentioned before they rather discuss this among themselves since anything in a feedback thread to stop hacking, RWT and botting is like a heads up for those game exploiters.

Honestly, I just want staff to approve a staff run program of posing as RWT sellers on RWT sites.

We all know, and talk about, several people we're convinced have bought their way to the top.

They're not selling anything themselves, but they're funding all these sellers by buying up all their stuff.

So why not just trap them?

Have staff approve someone like Yan to generate White Scrolls, Chaos Scrolls, AP Resets, and various expensive items on his GM and advertise them on the selling threads. Have staff approve Tim to database edit accounts to advertise S>30k HP level 160 NL with 200b+ gear and whatnot. Typically, RWT sellers always go first anyway, so staff wouldn't be gaining real money. Organize the transaction, meet in random channel, random FM room, F2 at each other, give buyer the requested items. Then ban them, and all related accounts. And periodically check for ban evasion since they'll probably come back, but with such a program, staff have documentation on RWT cheaters. :D

I like this idea. Even if it doesn't go in the favor of staff, RWT buyers will begin to fear making trasactions knowing that there is a cop hiding behind the screen.

We also need a change to make vote abuse for AP reset less rewarding/profitable. ATM MapleRoyals playerbase as a whole is too attached and dependent on the AP resets.

I can think of a couple of ways that can periodically check for suspicious activities.
However, with how busy the developer is - it would take a while before any of them would be added.

Just an example of an algorithm I have in mind:

Using an object named "Player" - Put together all of the accounts a certain player has. Each account holds a value of "wealth" - An estimated value of the player's wealth using the weapons, mesos, chaos scrolls, white scrolls, ap resets and such to evaluate someone's wealth (I won't go into the design right now, this would take a while to think of).

From here it's simple, Each player has a value that summarizes the amount of wealth on all of its accounts (and each of the characters in each account).

And now we search for jumps in player's graphs - And investigate, for example, players who got from 100m wealth to 20b in one week.

This is a smarter way to go through the massive player base of royals, instead of looking for items, search for weird changes in player's wealth - Which is what we are truly looking for here.
