Hello, I decided to start playing 1 mage character to fund my raod to NL. Currently I have 1.5-2b of fund. Got good earing and +20int bathrobe already. 1. Is it better for me to play fire/poison rather than bishop way since i have some fund to start with? 2. If you recommend to stay with bishop, what item should I spend my fund on other than zak helm. I am planning to grind my self, so rather spend some on buying good gears! Any advice or help will be appriciated. Cheers!
1.5b-2b is probably not enough to leech a hs mule + fp, and definitely not enough to get you good gears to 1hit petri until you're about 160-170. You'll be stuck at ulu2 for a pretty long time. I guess it depends what your goal for NL is. If you're aiming to max it, investing into an fp and hs mule early might give you more in the long run. If it's just 9.2k hp, I would recommend starting a bishop to make things alot quicker, you don't really need any gears besides what you already have. Get it to lvl 123 (stay at this level) with lvl 1 gene (to save mana) and lvl 10 mw (increases demand) and you can sell anything up until windraider leech. This gives you more option when selling and you only need to leech/grind til lvl 81 then you can start offering free hs. Of course, the new patch may change things up and you might see a drop in leech demand.
Hi! If you are playing a mage solely for making mesos, I would suggest going for the F/P mage + HS mule route. 1. Fast training F/P are arguably the fastest Explorer class to train during late 2nd job and 3rd job without leech especially when you have max poison breath and mist. You are able to efficiently start training at Petrisfighters at level 85 , a level 110 mob. Your ultimate is easier to get too, just travel back and forth between Ellinia and El Nath. 2. Cheaper to fund F/P currently have the cheapest ultimate skill books (at this time of writing Meteor 30 cost around 350m), and you are able to 1 hit ulu 2, a prime leeching spot by level 130 with just a decent elemental wand 5. Your requirement to reach to 1 hit endgame leech (Petris) is also easier to reach too, just 1255 magic (post 54 update) compare to Bishop's 1295 magic to 1 hit skeles. 3. You will gain HS mule that will not eat away your experience while training. Unless your future characters are heavily washed, you can make use of your HS mule for self-training without fear of them taking your experience. Downsides - Bishops are more flexible when it comes making mesos, as they are able to start selling low level leech at 120. (Some low and middle level spots can actually offer better selling rates than ulu 2, especially storm breakers which can go up to 55m for splits) - Bishops have secondary source of earning mesos, selling bossing service (Zak helm, Krexel ring, Horntail pendant etc) - No need for multi-clienting! - You will have easier time joining daily boss runs if you use your bishop as a HS mule. Hey, why are we nerfing arch mages again ?
Thank you very much for your well thought comment and advice. I will make HS mule first and see how I feel. I can easily transfer items to F/P mage once I get to 81lvl of priest right?
and for item wise is there anything that I should consider upgrading or having? like gloves/ zak helm
Completely anecdotal, I vastly enjoyed leveling my FP mage over my HS mule, I'm assuming if I had gotten to 120 on my priest, I would have felt the same as well. Poison training is really fun IMO, and you aren't stuck basically being a HS slave for someone else till 120, or you grind with heal/holy attacks. You have to consider how you enjoy playing. Grinding out the money on a character you hate is going to suck. If you want to boss with this mage someday I'd go bishop, if you want to just play it and enjoy it, you might enjoy an AM more. You probably have greater money making potential with a bishop though. I can't really speak, I don't sell leech, the HS mule is mostly for all around use on all my characters... in raw farming all mages pretty much are equal. A zak helm is one of the best things you can get for your character, it's BiS I think in almost all situations, and you should be able to survive zak at 50 because mages are mana junkies lol.
If you're solely doing it for the leech, you don't need any gears at all. Just a maple shine wand and lvl 1 gene will be enough to 1 hit any mobs for low level leech. So I would advice that you save money here. If you don't suicide, selling leech from 120-130 can already make you at least 5b easy. However since you'll eventually create a NL, I would advise for you to maintain < lvl 130 (best lvl 123 as explained in my previous post) while you upgrade your common int gears (WG/YWG/Red Markers, Bathrobes, earrings, Maple Shield/Lvl25 int cape + Yellow adventurer cape). Another reason to make a bishop is also that you can eventually self leech your new NL eventually. Low level leeches can be expensive. So this is how I would plan it: 1) Make a bishop, Sell leech starting lvl 120, remain at lvl 123 2) Upgrade int gears until you know you can 1hit WS/Harps at lvl 130, with gene10. 3) Start leeching your character up until lvl 75 4) upgrade your bishop to lvl 130 + gene10 [Optional] 5) leech your character til lvl 85 [if you didn't do step 4, you can 2 hit WS/SB/Harps] 6) 2 hit ulu1/ulu2 til lvl 105 7) buy petri leech for your NL til 135. 8) Maintain bishop at lvl 130 so that you can still sell low lvl leeches and also WS/Harps if you desire. You'll be stuck in step 2 for some time depending on how much leech you want to sell per day. Step 4 can happen as you hit WR on your NL. Note that I did not mention anything about upgrading to gene20 or mw20. It's not worth the money if you're going to main your NL eventually.
Thank you for your reply. It really helped me making up my mind. I will keep you guys posted how I play it out at the end haha
Thank you for your reply. so much appreciated! You planned everything step by step for me the way I exactly wanted. I sold every my sin gear I had for now. Realized funding NL as I wanted (I want GOD roll ish..and those items can go upto....) is a long term goal especially with HP washing. I might as well make 1m F/P mage to just refresh my mind and better high quality leech. So I will just put F/P instead of NL into your plan and fund till I can 1hit petri. I currently have close to 4b so hope It makes it quicker to reach there. Thank you again for your well thought comments and advice.
