What about people who have more than 8 bil in mesos? There is not any way of storing anymore money after that because storage and 3 characters have been maxed. Its a much bigger hassle to create separate accounts and mule characters just to store money. Sure this is catering to a small minority but it benefits anyone who has more than a few bil in mesos which I think is not an uncommon amount for players.

See, while I see where this could be helpful, I can also see it being detrimental. Convenience is nice but this would have the potential to create (major over time) inflation, due to the amount of meso that could be horded, stored, and introduced at any given time, in the short term it's a nice, convenient little thing, but long term I can't see it being good. However that's just my personal opinion.

Oh, almost forgot, it could also raise the gap between the bossers, merchers, etc. and poor(er) players, while also bringing in the potential for irreparable damage from dupes.

On the point of Flyff, remember Flyff's economy works much differently, and as such we cannot treat this ones quite the same.

It's also a hassle to do all the quests in Maple Island over and over again, do you want them to remove it aswell? I know it sounded rude but think of it as a point. This is a nostalgic-hard server; there is no magical command that opens up a store with everything you need. Things SHOULD be a hassle. You can always open a new account where you'll have 3 more spots for new characters and you can also put mesos in the storage. This is how it should be, and this is how I believe things worked in the old Maplestory.

There are different situations and variables that come into play when dealing with this servers rates versus the regular server. Your point is assuming that everything in GMS at that time was perfect which is far from the truth. Luckily, this server is community driven rather than profit driven like Nexon was so things are different.

Where exactly did I said that GMS was perfect? oh wait, I didn't. There are a lot of GMS similarities in this server and I think this should be one of them. I think that adding this kind of system would be a mistake and will make the server go astray from it's nostalgic path.

Here's my question. If you have several billion mesos, why aren't you spending it? I mean once you hit the theoretical max of 8 billion on an account, why not use it?

I think of it as being analogous to someone who spends their whole lives saving money and never spending it. Yeah you have a lot of money good for you. But what good is it if you aren't also spending it, using it, donating it, etc?

This is actually really easy to code in, it's just a matter of scripting an NPC.

In my opinion this server is not THAT easy to make mesos on that we need to implement this system, as someone else mentioned, this system is seen on mostly high-rate servers and for good reason, but on here I just don't think it's necessary.

Actually you can have six characters on an account, for a max of 15b mesos.

    All I meant was:
It'll just take longer time to implement since we no longer have someone that's geared for solely developing (Staff members have other things to do too being that their 'voluntary' job description doesn't exactly entail just coding like a developer did).

In actual, real-life economies, taxes are meant as a transfer of wealth from one party to another (normally individual to state/government). Since there's (obviously) no second party here and the mesos disappear, this isn't the case. As far as I know, taxes were implemented in Maple to counter naturally occuring inflation of mesos. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: This inflation is comparable to deadweight loss (loss of economic efficiency).

Bro. I know you've been gone for a while. But your idea of nostalgic server does not need to interfere with server efficiency. This is not GMS. In addition, this request is not just to help those who 'forget' to clear their max meso on a character. People have lost hundreds of millions of meso thru Fredrick because they couldn't hold more than max meso on their chars. Now THAT is a hassle. Both for players and the GMs who have to fix it.

Personally, I'm against this idea because I'm selfish and fuck u guys I've never had over 1b meso :( :(

    (jk. this idea is good)

Okay, I just fail to see how keeping all the money in one centralized location is detrimental to economy in any way? It's not like more money is being spread throughout the server. The tax is very small and many people bypass it by using merchants to transfer money. With merchants being permanent and only 10K NX (which is just 2 days of voting), anyone can get a merchant.
I definitely dont understand why someone would have more than 10bil saved- but some items do cost more than 2bil which is why someone would have more than that saved. Perfected items could cost that much, or someone selling things in bulk- like the person selling over 100 AP resets for 2bil.

By simply dismissing it saying "This isnt nostalgiac"- well technically neither is 4th job people in the middle of KPQ/LPQ nostalgic either. That came later on. But we have it here. Neither is a lot of things- the server is a nice balance of old content and improvements on the old content. V62 was far from perfect, and with the increased rates (even if they're minor), it's entirely possible to get enough money to where something like this could be feasible. That's why I posted it as a suggestion. Heck, Genesis20 is almost 1bil alone- and the people who get those expensive books are likely to be the ones doing zak runs often, so money is easier to come by.

If made untradeable, then I see no way of it being so detrimental. (Though it'd be nice to see an easier way of trading/buying items that cost more than max mesos- even though I personally don't go through that much money). Basically it's just making it easier for people to store their own money in one centralized location (one account) rather than spreading it out across multiple.

Spending the time reading the forums, there's been several instances of things happening because someone had max mesos, or too much money was earned through frederick.
JusticeIGN lost almost 2bil from Frederick and was unable to be refunded once already because he had too much mesos in his inventory at the time.
Plenty recently tried to transfer more than 2bil to an alt and Frederick glitched on her.
Someone else recently tried to retrieve money from Frederick but had 2bil and was unable to retrieve mesos until storing the money elsewhere.

It was just an idea, a suggestion that was commented on by a few others in the chat box- which I went ahead with and made a thread for.
If untradeable, that reduces the chance of them being prime duping targets I think? Then their sole purpose would just be for holding your money. It's a convenience thing.
Between merching, Free NX/Gacha, selling leech and bossing, money isn't hard to come by for any class- especially once they hit 4th job. (Except maybe shadowers since they blow up all their money anyway :pP Kidding. <3)

I had more thought up but I lost my train of thought here.

This times one hundred. Those of us who use to play the old servers and now play this server have a rare opportunity to improve the server as we see fit.

Why? It served no purpose in GMS and would serve no purpose here. I see no reason for it to have a tax.

Really tired of the whole "it's not nostalgic" argument. There comes a point where nostalgia needs to be set aside in order to improve the server. I agree with this idea.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sick of seeing great ideas get thrown out the window simply because people agree it's "not nostalgic".

I fully support this idea, and I'm glad it's being discussed.
