Easter Event is done why not just release it so we can enjoy it while we wait 2 weeks for the rest of stuff?????????????????????

 

I could be wrong, but i think its due to a few things. 1 the event probably changes some files and thusly would require file updates. It doesnt make a whole lot of sense to put the time into making an update download for everyone to download and install, then 2 weeks later have another one. 2, its possible that the easter event will only work after some of the bigger changes are made to the game. The whole things probably been tested in an environment where everything together is working, and picking certain pieces of the update to roll out ahead of time can cause unseen consequences, and only set the development back.

 

The main takeaway from this post: Don't make rash assumptions on why something isn't happening when you have little to no technical knowledge whatsoever. Coding is a very coupled task, if you set out to do a big update, you can't just release parts of this major change as it likely includes the need to refactor many areas. You essentially have to do even more work per release for a bunch of releases rather than having a much simpler/easier single release.

 

Personally I know that I would have no issue with downloading new files now, and again in two weeks (tm). If that is a massive burden on the staff, then yes, that could be a valid explanation for why it isn't being released (however, we don't know if it is/is not, hence why the staff should be answering my question and not unqualified players). In response to the second portion, refer to my post below. The Easter portion could have been released without the log-in portion according to the post(s) by the staff prior.

Actually, if you read the thread you would have seen that I had this discussion with Andreas earlier, and he stated that technically, yes, they could have released the Easter update first. Only that it would have required them to push back the other stuff such as the log in updates (this was like a month ago) to get it done first. Now that the Easter portion is done, the point about having to push other stuff back becomes moot, hence why I asked why it isn't being released now. If anything, you're the one assuming since I simply asked a question, while throughout your entire response you can be found spewing a bunch of...dundundun...assumptions, both about me, the work involved, and what is/is not possible.

I never made an assumption-I asked a question. You do not know what knowledge I possess. You made the assumption here.

This is an assumption. According to Andreas above, it could have been released without the stuff (log in, PIC, char deletion, anniversary event, etc.). Even if this were not the case, it is still an assumption.

Even if this were found to be accurate (it would be circumstantial rather than fully accurate, but we'll entertain the idea of it being precise just for simplicity sake), this too is an assumption.

I said a lot of this through experience in coding. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was out to get you but I'm incredibly blunt. I didn't mean to target you, it was an overall to people complaining about the update taking forever, I know the pain of having a small dev team and I'm pretty sure this update wouldn't have made it out on time even if the Dev's had been coding it as if it were their full time jobs.

I get the meme of it coming soon, but there's a lot of people who are serious about it with no clue about how long it takes.

 

I dont need to be part of the staff to understand how coding and patch development works. Apologies I was only giving a general idea of what the possible hangups to your request were.

 

The only issue is that you made assumptions while claiming I was the one making them. I didn't assume a single thing in my post - I posted one sentence and it was a question. You then went on to assume multiple things, including on a personal level about me.

Sounds like if anything, you quoted the wrong post (mine) and should have quoted somebody on the other pages who was actually complaining rather than somebody who was simply asking a very reasonable question (me).

You were speculating. A staff member could actually answer my question accurately and without speculation. That is why they are qualified to answer and normal players, including myself you are not.

Will we have Thailand map along with Shanghai release?

 

Adding another map and we all need to wait longer for update. So, not now please.

 

I for one am grateful that we even got Shanghai and cannot wait to explore it for the first time, since I wasn’t a MapleSEA player.

 

Thailand is its own country as does not fit inside Shanghai, which is a (big) city in China.

New areas always made me happy 10 years ago playing Global MS, and I sense a similar feeling now. How funny.

 

I know Thailand has its own map. Why do you think i assume Thailand map is in Shanghai? LOL

Also, will Page's "Threaten" skill bug is going to be fixed in this update. It has been a year since someone addressed this bug

 

We don't cater the update to just you. There are many others who would prefer not to always download new files for whatever reasons, mainly slow internet. What Andreas said still holds true and if we were to release Easter, we will unnecessarily go through two patches within a month.

Shanghai was added in about a day or two, and doesn't take up Kevin's time. It was something that Andreas did while waiting for Kevin to finish other dependent tasks. But no, we won't be releasing Thailand just yet. It is however, more likely for Malaysia to come first.
