    Hi everyone! (Fellow Royalers)

If you don't know me, my name is Ben. I have 3 characters; a bishop, a night lord, and a brawler.

Recently, there have been an influx of people training at Skeles. Because of this, Skeles map (More specifically Leafre: The Dragon Nest Left Behind) has been having issues similar to Ghost Ship 2.

Although you can see from the chat, (sorry map accidentally covered some stuff), you can see my bishop using justification that has been said in previous incidents.

I feel we should establish guidelines or events that should take place in order to claim ownership. Some of these guidelines are maybe already established:

    A. Drops on the ground
    B. Someone (or leecher) physically left the map due to various reasons
    C. Lee-chee (Lychee) on the map without their Leecher
    D. "Usage" of the map

These are all scenarios in which I believe someone lost their map.

Yes, we should always ask first and if their person is coming back we can always be generous. HOWEVER, that is not what I am trying to address in this thread. What I am trying to address in this is the technicality and what rules are set.

*For Event D: By "usage", I mean physically attacking monsters with drops dropping. Which would then take out Event A and essentially everything else.

Anything I say may or may not be correct. It is simply my opinion and I am only seeking clarification. I just want to know if there are set rules so that incidents like these can be easily solved and GMs can take care of other more important matters.

For example in Scenario 1: Say my bishop (Party A) is ccing at skeles trying to look for a map. I go onto ch 7 and see the map is empty (meaning no drops on the ground) (Event A). However, there is a lee-chee hanging onto a rope without their leecher (Party B)(Event C). In this scenario, would I be allowed to take the map?

My conclusion: Based on the fact that their leecher was gone from the map for whatever reason (Event B), I believe anyone who leaves a map for whatever reason, whether it be disconnection, or transferring in fm, loses their right/ownership of the map by leaving at their own discretion. If there were drops, then I would react differently to this whole situation. However, seeing that there are no drops on the map, leads any passerby to assume an extended period of time of absence. Lee-chees cannot and Should not hold maps unless they are physically attacking and using the map.

    My proposed guidelines:

    1. Usage of the map is determined through physical attacking of monsters and presence of drops.
    2. If the leecher leaves the map for any reason, then he or she is doing so at their own risk
+if the leecher gets back to the map and no one is there, then obviously the map is still theirs
    3. Leaving the map at any time physically due to any reason is automatic forfeiture of map
    4. Parties getting leeched by a leecher cannot hold a map
    5. Have a set time that if someone is afk for, then they forfeit their ownership of the map

Thank you for reading. This is still a rough draft but I'm very open to discussion because I don't think I am the only one who is seeking clarification...that is...unless I am the only one.

    THANKS!

****Once again I apologize for the map blocking the top part. That was purely an accident!!****

We just need more skele maps with better spawn aside from this map there are 2 maps that have low respawn rate; if we get a good respawn as this map then ksing problems for 120 + wouldn't exist; Same thing with mp3. rather than have everyone ~gm at gs... Maps in-genral needs improvment. but yet again people will argue " it's not nostalgic"

For Situation A, drop on the ground should indicate that the map still belongs to that person who was previously there.

Situation B, if the drops are no longer on the ground, should stand as an open map and there for the taking.

Situation C is a bit tricky as Priest with a decent amount of Magic are able to train at Skeles effectively. I guess it depends on class, but any class that's 108+ should be able to train at Skeles so this situation is up for debate.

Situation D is given so there isn't much to say about that.

Of course, the best solution would be to buff up either the other Skele maps, Ulu City or Temple of Time spawn. I doubt anyone will have any objections to this.

Yeah Greeby I see what you mean. We have suggested it before regarding increasing spawn on other maps. But for now, until that happens, I think this would be the fastest and most efficient solution to tackle disagreements with having the need to bring gms everytime something happens

Thanks plenty for the response! Yeah situation D and A are w/e. However the thing that is really frustrating is B. Because even if there are no drops on the ground, a lot of other arguments pop up such as leecher dcing/npcing or etc.

It's also be nice to have a command on whether or not the map belongs to anyone or is open.

There is a mapowner command that is accessible to GMs however I think it would be a little troublesome to add an individual command to players.

    I think

If there are no drops on the ground, then the map is clearly open. If someone disconnects for that long, they only have themselves to blame because the server should never be that bad to that specific person

For the most part, from what I've read the general idea is "if no one is actively attacking, and there are no drops on ground, after 3 minutes the map is no longer theirs". There have been times where I was training a new character t gs2 and the whole server lagged out. I held the map for hours before- but when I came back someone already moved in and claimed it as theirs. All I could do was walk away so I did.
I don't believe people are allowed to just sit and "hold" a map without using it- though this could use some clarification for boss maps, I think at this point most people who actively hunt the same bosses respect one another enough to leave if someone is there.
I do think some official clarification in what constitutes a map changing owners, and how that relates to KSing, could be beneficial. So far it's mostly been in replies to other threads about the subject, but not an actual thread about the rules themselves- or even just guidelines instead of solid "rules".

I've had people take my maps while pooping.

For that reason, I attempt conversation and give the person at least a couple minutes to come back. If I start training and they come back within 10, I'll give them the map back.

I expect a higher level of respect from people in maps like skeles versus gs2. I'm not a fan of the methods people use to swindle maps (such as drops disappearing). When someone wants/needs to take a short break they should be able to.

In this situation, the person that lost the map can't play victim. Just cut your losses and either figure out what's going on with your client, internet connection or computer hardware itself because in all my time playing, I've never once had this issue.

For me personally, I've had the issue where I was on the side looking for a map, and had to deal with an argument from the person who technically lost their map

Honestly, if this was GMS, there would be no problems like this because A, there would be enough maps, and B, ksing would be an option. But seeing as we're all trying to co-exist, I just want to find a peaceful and fair solution.

I'll let the GMs take care of that situation, but if that person is under Situation B, then act according and stay firm to your stance.

I've played in ~10 private servers, and it seems that the main skele map in pretty much all of them is Nest of a Dead Dragon, which is one map over. Would it be possible to buff the spawn in those areas? I found it odd when I joined when people were training in Dragon Nest.

The problem with a ~ownmap command (or something of the like) would be that people would be able to find a way to effectively manipulate it so ownership is always theirs. In a previous server, I figured out the inactivity time (around 15 minutes) and was able to hold a map by just doing something such as open a menu every 15 minutes so that whenever a player used the @ownmap command it would always show as mine. I could still do whatever I wanted on another window without much interruption and freely train when I returned.

However, I agree with Sila. There needs to be a comprehensive ruling on what constitutes ks'ing and map ownership. It'll certainly decrease the amount of grey areas.

The part where you say "Swindle maps", me personally, I would rather share the map if I'm not going to be using it. Because if you're not using the map, but still claim it, then it's a little unfair for the people trying to find a map while there is one not being used.

I remember there being a mini dungeon with this exact map layout. Perhaps a future patch?

Yet, again people will look at this and say "Well, it's not nostalgia". Agreed with this statement, but did the same people who mentioned this stayed for the actually game or perhaps the people in it...?
Regards to Plenty comment; Mini-dungeon maps will help reduce the Ksing problems; other than that maps needs to diverse for over-all classes. We can't just have skele-maps spawned increased for the benefit of bishops;where the server will turn on there side when selling leech.
Since we're on this topic; Updates where implemented in GMS for a reason, Better maps, hidden-teleports (and what-not), and most importantly Bosses. The greed factor that corporation aimed to profit, burned our child-hood game; But that doesn't mean we can't have our memory's back!
