If I posted this in the wrong forum then I apologize.

Essentially I'm semi new to this server and honestly maplestory in general and I wanted to create a paladin as it has always been my favourite class in any RPG mainly DnD. I did a little research and stumbled on how HP washing works and I'm going to be honest I was a bit devastated at the fact that if I started using him I would essentially get screwed over in the long run and be inferior to everybody else. Not here to ask for a change and even read about some new update about adding HP (not 100% sure what it entails or how it works so any info on that would be appreciated) so basically it just really made me realize I have no idea what I'm doing. I tried to read the HP washing guides out there and a lot of it kind of went over my head and a part of it I think is due to the lack of knowledge I have about this game in general.

Now that I have rambled a bit want I really want is for somebody to tell me how I can make a maxed out paladin with the HP mechanics and even stats in general because I did what everybody else has and started with a mage to work towards bishop and even doing that I would get confused every level I did because I would keep thinking to myself "Do I just put it all in intellect? Do I touch any other stats? They say I need some luck how much of that exactly do I need? What can I touch and not touch?".

Just really confused and really want to play the class that I actually want to play so if somebody can inform me on the direction to reach my goal I would greatly appreciate it.

It's not just HP washing it's also how the class works in general I don't what to do about dex or strength does washing also affect any other stats or is it just HP? If I hit that 30k HP am I in the clear?

You should not worry too much about washing as a warrior. The complication of washing happens other classes. This is because when pumping AP into HP, warriors get a significantly greater increase in HP as compared to other classes.

The AP used for washing a warrior only affects your HP. What I mean by this is that AP from leveling up (also known as Fresh AP) adds more HP than AP from APResets (taking an AP stat from elsewhere and pumping it into HP). Anything else like Str or Dex remains the same, Str or Dex or Int addition doesn't affect your damage in the long run.

Washing is a process whereby the outcome is having an overall net gain in HP (or MP) and after completing the process, your stats (like damage, Str and Dex) should be the same as that of a person who did not do any washing at all.
Hopefully I cleared any misconceptions, doubts and confusion you have, now for the process.

As mentioned, all warriors do not need to invest too much energy into washing. Firstly, what you should do is get a few INT items or add a little base INT. How much you should add or get is depends on you because it doesnt matter too much and either way, it shouldn't screw you over because warriors are that easy to wash.

(You can wash at each level or after gathering lots of fresh AP, it doesnt matter)

Next, add your level-up AP (fresh AP) into the HP stat. You should gain around 50HP. Use an APReset and -1 stat from MP and +1 to main stat (in this case Str or even Dex if you're using Stonetooth Sword). This process basically gives you +50HP and -4MP per APReset while having the same increase in damage stat as someone who didnt do this.

Of course, the above has a limiting factor and that is your MP. Each class has a mimimal MP threshold whereby having your MP at this point disallows you to -1 stat from MP. This is where the INT stat comes into play. I shall not go through the specifics since the amount of INT you would like to add or equip is up to you and can be decided based on the calculator someone provided above.

I have the same confusion before and hope my explanation will get you through this. I really do mean it that warriors are the easiest to wash and that you shouldnt worry too much about it. Good luck, have fun!

    TLDR Of Venins post

Washing warrior is cheap. Buy some basic int gears int cape, green bandana, wooden wand, dept star, int bathrobe.

I would add around 30-50 int base and just dont touch it until 135. Since you’re fairly new and dont have too much funding for int eqs I would add 50.

Use your int equips every time you’re about to level. 10int=1 extra mp when leveling. so like 100 int with equips=10 extra mp.

Slap everything else into STR like normal. Dont put any into dex unless you plan to be a stonetooth pally.

    When you start washing:
Level Up SP, put them into your HP.
Use AP Reset and take out mana and put into str.

Cruical to use the SP you gain from leveling.

I've heard it isn't as difficult, but if I plan to do it as a main then I plan on doing it the best I can. Just a thought but since I can raise MP with having more intellect will this come into play as well? Should I be going for getting MP as well since I'm going for paladin or is that not possible?

Increasing ur MP further is probably based on personal reference. I have a hero of my own and I don't really care about my MP so it's actually really low and near the minimum MP. I've seen heroes with 30k HP along with like 4k+ MP which is I would say nice to have but not necessary.

Hero and Paladin have similar washes. I'm at low 1k MP and I'm doing fine.

Well since I want to play a paladin would that not mean I would need MP as well? If I wanted to go about raising MP as well how far could I realistically go while also getting HP?

If I were you, I would not bother with HP nor MP as a paladin. Paladins have no specific MP-draining skills so you don't need huge amounts of it. Personally I like having over 1500 on my DK because that's what the cheapest pots heal (Sorcerer Elixir). I can guarantee you that as a warrior, you will never in your maple career have troubles with MP.
As for HP, it's a less trivial matter. If you are a perfectionist (you probably came to the right game BTW) you might want 30K HP, but otherwise, there is no real practical use for it. Of course it's helpful, I mean it won't hurt to have it, but it's really just a kind of luxury. A 15K Paladin should manage to survive pretty much everything too. Now, I feel that lots of good advice have been given on this topic already in this thread. Feel free to ask more questions if you want to, but for now I just say: Don't bother with HP washing if you don't feel like it, but use INT equips if you have access to them, because the rewards are huge compared to the effort put into washing a warrior. (you don't have to decide yet if you want to wash or not - you can do that in Lv. 200 if you want).
After a while you will have developed a sense of how much HP and MP you need and you will have the ability to increase your HP. If you really want 30K, this might require some planning - I don't know much about it. I just know that it's an exaggerated amount of HP.
Don't add any base INT (you should be good to go with just INT equips.
Don't add any DEX (it gives accuracy, which you need, but you can get that more efficiently through equips)
Don't add any LUK (nope, it doesn't make you luckier. Just a worse way of gaining accuracy than DEX. Avoidability and less EXP lost upon death, yes but as a warrior you're supposed to tank things and not die anyway so... stay away from LUK)
So yeah, it's as simple as putting everything (absolutely everything yep) into STR. STR makes you stronger and strong is what you wanna be.

Good luck with your Paladin. It's a cool class by the way! Happy Mapling :)

I know people say it's not necessary, but when I'm putting this much time in and it's your main I want it to be the best it can be with no regrets later on so I fully intend to get everything I can for it I just don't have a good direction yet. Right now I have just been playing on what is currently a cleric and doing votes (up to 280k NX now) because I believe that's what you use to buy AP resets.

Basically from what I have gathered from what people here have told me is that how HP washing works is to wear intellect gear because more intellect means more MP whenever you level up and I take the MP I get from that and put it into strength is that the gist of it? Would this mean that after I got 30k HP I could just try and get as much MP as possible afterwards by keeping my intellect as high as possible to squeeze out more?

Sorry if it seems like I'm asking a lot but really want to get this right.

Yep you will need AP Resets. And there are calculators available for you to know exactly how many you will need as well
Make sure to get multipels of 10 as your total INT. 49 total INT upon level up will get you 4 extra MP. 50 INT will give you 5. Do you see what I'm suggesting? :)
You can keep equipping this gear every time you level up for maximized MP gain yes, but as I clearly said before, loads of MP is completely unnecessary other than when you exchange it for HP.

Edit : A quick calculation I did showed that 10000 INT-levels will be enough to reach 30K HP.

What I mean with an INT-level is one point in INT at one level up. For example, 50 INT at each level up for 200 levels results in 50×200=10000 INT-levels. 100 INT in 100 levels give the same end result. This is not an official unit but I found it handy to use now to give you an approximation of how hard (or easy) it is to reach your goal

Oh I get how the int to MP works that to me is probably the most straight forward part.

Could I ask you to break it down what happens every time I got a level so I can fully understand the process? Preferably without abbreviations so I understand what you're talking about. I don't really get how this only would really work for HP and nothing else.

The reason why this is confusing is... Because it's confusing. The whole HP washing thing is actually a glitch and was probably not by design in the first place.

    Now, to the point.
You have probably noticed that you gain HP and MP each time you level up. The amount you get depends on your job and for MP, oddly enough, also on your amount of INT (this is abbreviation for intelligence as you've said before but I will just say INT).
The trick then is to equip all of your stuff that boosts your INT, and do this right before you level up. It's during the level up moment that all this stuff is calculated and the MP gain from INT is added to your character permanently and remains even when you've unequipped your INT-gear. Weird? Yep but you have understood me correctly.
Now, your character will have "too much" MP and this will be sensed by the "system" once you have put an AP (ability point) into HP/MP. This enables you to remove the excess MP using an AP Reset scroll (bought from the Cash shop using NX as you correctly stated yourself before)
The actual process of "HP washing" can for a paladin start anytime (at level 46 or 189) and it looks like this:
    • Add one AP into HP.
    • Use APR (AP Reset Scroll) to remove from MP and add to HP.
    • Repeat (until MP reaches its minimum amount, or HP reaches max, or until you run out of mesos/NX).
    • When happy and in awe of your own insane amount of HP, use a final APR to remove from MP and add to STR (actually you shouldn't run your MP down to the bottom before that last step).

Let me know if I answered your questions or if I missed the point and rambled about other stuff.

Think I'm getting it just a few extra questions.

Ok so to be able to reset does that mean you have to spend just one AP that you get when leveling up or do you do something with the remaining points? You say it will be senses when you put a point into HP do you mean unlocked?

When you say to remove the MP and put it into STR would that mean you would also be STR washing if I decided to keep on using intellect gear to get more MP after I reached 30k HP or would I hit a cap? You also say a minimum amount of MP what does that mean?

I appreciate the help by the way.

Yes, one AP will go into HP and this will kind of "unlock" the HP washing thing. After that, you never need to add AP to anything but STR again.

You can reach 30K MP theoretically but you can never use this to gain STR.
Using AP Reset, you will have the option to - MP +STR just once, because you put only one AP into HP. (HP and MP shares the same "pool", you could say. But STR, DEX, INT, LUK is another pool.)
When you do this final step of raising STR, you are kind of "recycling" the AP you added into HP before. Now you are back to pure STR which you want to be.

Each job has a formula telling the value of how little MP they are allowed to have. The formula looks like:
    For Fighters/Pages: MinMP = (4 x Lvl) + 56 (856 at Lvl 200)
Your MP can not go lower than this and therfore, this is usually what limits people's HP gain too, through HP washing.

Ok I think I get how it works I just need to figure out what items I should be gunning for to reach the most MP possible.

Just a thought, but if I put those points into intellect rather than strength would I be able to get more MP per level every time? Granted I kept going past an increment of ten of course.

Yes, more INT = more MP and it doesn't matter if it comes from equips or not. We usually call it "base INT" when we have AP put into INT. Some people do this, especially jobs with low regular HP, but it forces them into a game-play of leeching because they are too weak to kill monsters. Some new players are also advised to add base INT but personally I'm against this idea as it makes your character weak and I don't enjoy playing a weak character. In the end, you can reset that base INT back into your main stat of course, so you won't be weaker in end-game because of this.

EDIT: I should also mention that base INT is affected by the skill Maple Warrior (which most 4th job players have). Maple Warrior will temporarily increase your INT with 10% (or 5% at Lv.10) of your base INT. Some players use this skill a way of getting some few extra INT points upon level up.

Sounds like it will be an arduous journey, but to be the greatest paladin so be it. Think it's possible to hit 30k in both HP and MP or is that just impossible for anything that's a warrior?

Is there anywhere I can find the best items to use for a warrior while washing so I know what to save for?

You can become the greatest paladin, but not by getting 30K MP. Sure it would be something to impress others with "I made the world's first 30K MP Paladin" but you know my opinion already ... I don't recommend it. I don't even know if it's possible. Could be, but you might need thousands of INT.

Aim for becoming strong instead. And max stats like speed and jump, and become skilled in general, efficient in both bossing and grinding. Learn from the best (there is a guild called "Templars" BTW, for Paladins) and inspire and teach those who know less than you.

About INT equips, not much is specific to warrior but one little tip I can give you: Get a Diao Chan Sword. Most people recommend wands but as a warrior it's very comfortable to use a sword because you can continue your grinding almost normally and level up without the help from others. These swords can have up to 7 INT clean and technically 21 INT scrolled. Just aim for one with around 10 INT.

That's fair it's more for me since I intend it to be my main, but let's be real there is a decent amount of class choices in this game it would be a shame to only play one and nothing else later on.

I appreciate the tips guess all there is left to do now is just start grinding and saving for it. Happen to know of any guilds so I'm not playing alone all the time?
