    Hello there,

First of all, I know Royals is here mainly for the nostalgia and that most players do come here for this reason. But I'm talking here about improving the gameplay experience, making the changes that Nexon should have made and also not making the mistakes Nexon has made..
I see that Royals has been dependant on some stuff that aren't really fun to do and that there are many things that can be done instead of these things which can be much fun while making people socialize a bit more.. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Leech.
I'm talking here about improving Royals while keeping the nostalgia we all love.

1- Starting with buffing classes which aren't played that much (Buccaneers and yeah, Paladins..), buffing and/or adding more features or effects to skills that aren't useful or aren't used at all (Sacrifice, Holy Arrow, Final Attack *Pre-rework style*, Doom, etc.) or skills that can be placed by a 5,000 meso potion (Rage, just frikkin make it stack with other skills and potions..)

2- Buffing scrolls and increasing the value of stats other than Weapon and Magic Attack.. (Both Weapon and Magic DEF mainly targeted) by for example, let's say, increasing the amount of DEF added by each scroll, also, adding a percentage of these stats as other stats (1% of W.Def added as W.Att/1% of Magic Def added as M.Att) which is gonna also benefit Paladins since they are mainly dependant on Weapon DEF, if not adding a passive effect to their skills to increase their W.Att by 10% of their W.Def since they have the worst DPS of all, that's also the reason why you can see a Paladin once a year here in Royals. Another thing will be increasing the amount of HP/MP granted by HP/MP scrolls and adding a percentage of HP/MP as W.Att/M.Att (0.001% of HP added as W.Att while 0.001% of MP added as M.Att).

3- Making Royals less dependant on Leeching* by:

-Improving PQ's rewards by adding more valuable items to bonus stages and final rewards.
-Making each PQ's rewards unique than the others to keep all the PQs alive.
-Bringing back PQs like CPQ, CWPQ, GPQ, Ariant PQ and R&J besides adding CPQ2 and Mu Lung Dojo.
-Making the EXP gained from high-level characters in party lower while allowing party members to get EXP from killing a high-level monster from each other (if members' levels are close to each other).
-Removing PQs level caps in order to make all the players enjoy them and increase the number of players participating to PQs.

4- Improving item creation by making unique exclusive items which can only be acquired through creation and/or by bringing the Item Maker system to Royals.

5- Making Royals less dependant on the most boring feature of all time, HP Washing** (It's really boring especially when you're a new player who has no money after finally getting your character to lvl 120 and then another player tells you that you should have HP washed). This can be and has been done partially by making the new HP quest. Also, keeping the same quest for mages but with Max MP as a reward instead.

6- Making quests more valuable by increasing the amount of EXP and/or meso gained and by adding more unique items only exclusive to some certain quests. Also by improving the drop rate of some quest items which are rare compared to the reward of the quest.

7- Making Mini bosses more targetable by adding unique drops and/or increasing the amount of NX dropped by them.

The list goes on, I'm sure there are more ways there to improve Royals and make it a better place without taking away what we all loved about old MapleStory and to keep people enjoyed with such great and unique experience. I'm also sure that many of you are opposing, this is just an opinion and I know it's not as easy as it sounds whether if it comes to old Royals players or developers especially that it's gonna influence the balance of the game and the guides that have already been made.

8- Adding more end-game content as there's not much to do for the ones who reached lvl 120 other than bossing, grinding and looking for skill books.

9- Making items more unique*** by:

-Reducing the drop rate of certain items (Skill Books, Throwing Stars, Equips, etc.).
-Making equips more valuable by increasing their stats so that people won't be mainly dependant on certain equips (Maple items mainly) only while throwing away everything else.
-Adding more post-level 120 equips (this is gonna probably be another target for players above level 120).

Tell me what you think guys***

*I know many of you are gonna oppose this idea especially if you're someone who depends mainly on leeching for easy meso, but think of this less selfishly as a way to improve the experience of gameplay by making people socialize more by training together and joining PQs more often and make high-level players more unique. Also, this can be solved by adding quests or maps exclusively for lvl 120+ mages where they can get valuable drops or rewards instead.

**This is also a spot for arguments since lots of you has already spent billions to HP wash their characters, this issue can be solved by rewarding each character unique items while resetting their HP (if possible) and letting them do the new HP quests.

***IMO this might hurt the nostalgic part, it's still a suggestion, tell me what you think.

    ****Also, Thanks for your suggestions.

I agree with say, raising the damage cap by like 50k to account for Paladins hitting the cap. I personally don't remember if the damage cap has already been raised from the original MS, but I think this would go a long ways in making them more viable (without breaking anything. But it might, I'm not entirely sure on this). This would also increase classes like MM's damage a bit, which would give them more of an edge against BMs.

I personally don't mind that a few skills are useless, like Final Attack, Doom, etc since you can't max all your skills anyways.

Things like Rage and Meditation are fine the way they are. They are money saving alternatives that are party wide buffs and I think they actually nerfed Warrior Potion so that Rage is stronger (Warrior pot = +12, Rage = +20).

This has been discussed a fair bit but requires a lot of work. Honestly, while they fix CPQ/CPQ2, I think it'd be great if they changed the level requirements. Maybe leave CPQ as is and make CPQ2 for like level 120+ since this is there people really have a hard time levelling and just end up leeching hard. Or at least something like level 110+.

Not sure what can really be done here to make this better honestly. Otherwise, finding a balance to make sure it doesn't end up getting abused could be tricky as well.

This is something a lot of newer players want and a lot of older players don't. It's gonna be hard to without pissing off a lot of people either way, there's tons of arguments on this that I don't want to get into lol.

These are already fine. Some quests might need a small buff, but it'll be hard to safely adjust and just might not be worth it. Also, mini bosses are widely farmed just for the NX already, don't know if it's worth buffing anything on them.

The only thing for quests that'd be nice would be to see some end game quests with some decent rewards. The end game is what this game lacks, as it just becomes mindless grinding, which is technically nostalgic, but it'd be nice to have certain quests maybe moved to higher level requirements and with equally high rewards to compensate. This would give those people (usually like level 170+) something else to do than the same handful of bosses and grinding the same mobs forever.

Defiantly a few things I agree with but a few things I don’t. I mainly joined Royals for the nostalgia and to try some of the end game content/classes that I never got to try.

I am defiantly for some skill rebalancing if done right. Final attack Doom ect as you mentioned are fairly useless. There are quite a few skills in the game that see almost no use at all: Big bang, Taunt, Ninja Ambush, ect.

    1) I am not a huge fan of power creep although it happens in most mmo’s. I would say a good 80% to 90% the online characters I all see are 4th job or higher and as such the majority of the games content is trivially easy. Part of the original appeal of maplestory to me was having such a large amount of end game content that the majority of player didn’t reach. It just made those rare 4th job skills you saw under a blue moon that much cooler. I think increasing hp from hp scrolls or having more ways to build weapons rather than just pure stat + weapon/magic would open up a lot more player creativity, but would be warry of making everyone too strong like modern day maplestory.

    2) Agree with everything on pq’s. Most my memorable moments on the original maplestory were trying to figure out how to get through the guild pq struggling vs the bosses in the dojo ect not grinding monsters for hours or worse getting leeched. With everyone so high level in royals there’s almost no one to try pirate PQ orbis PQ and all the level locked ones with and even if you do the reward for doing it isn’t worth it.

    3) The maker skill pre big bang (I’m not talking about the cubes and identification glasses) was defiantly a fun thing to explore and added reasons to collect ect items, gems, explore different maps ect. One of the things I think early maple lacked was interesting gear.

    4) Glad they are looking into hp washing. Being locked from content because you didn’t hp wash seems dumb to me.

    5) Again, I’m not a huge fan of buffing exp and making people stronger although in the right areas would be very beneficial. Working on the quest specialist medal having finished about 90% of MapleStory’s quests I can say this without a doubt most of MapleStory's quests are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. Whoever thought a quest to collect 2300 ect items for a level 40 hat would be fun and rewarding was out of his mind. All for some major quest changes.

Other content pre big bang that might help with player retention would be nice as well:

    Magatia Party Quest
    Crimpsonwood Keep Party Quest
Family System (even if no exp buffs/family skill just for fun)
Monster Books (the pre big bang version where you just collect stats and lore)
Pink Bean (a real end game challenge)
Maker Skill (pre big bang version)
    Ellin Forest Map
    Follow System
    Mu Lung Dojo
    Guild PQ/guild rankings
    Monster Carnival
Duey (npc to send items or mesos to people)
Ariant pq (fun pvp pq pre big bang)
Balrong boss fight/Master M boss fight
    Kerning Square Mall
    Neo City
    Golden Temple
    ect

+1 With everyone so high-level there's not a lot of rewarding end game stuff to do. With more and more people reaching end game content I think this is a big issue for player retention.

Definitely need more than just bossing for end game. Especially if you look at Mages and stuff, sure bosses are important for the big classes, but Mages need something too other than leeching. Quests are a great way to do this since you can make quests both harder/easier for mobbers and single target, depending on how you make the quests.

I'm pretty sure most things about Royals right now are fine and people love it.. I'm talking here about improvements and not just keep things "fine" because like, if we can do it, then why not?

    Definitely..

It's a difficult decision. In the end, it's meant to be closer to the original game to give that nostalgic feeling, but the more we add/change, the less nostalgic it'll feel. It's a very fine line to walk honestly, but you have some very solid suggestions overall (quite a few are already in the works, such as GPQ, CWKPQ, Dojo, and I believe CPQ).

In the end, I think it's going to be hard as end game (closer to end game) content is more important since people can bypass the early game fairly quickly already. But original MS already struggled very hard with end game content, which is why it's so sparse.

    Let's be honest,
What people really liked about old GMS and hated about new one are few major things, and some of them are that GMS became so much easier (you could lvl up to 200 in just two days), much less dependant on socializing (No one cared about others, PQs, FM became dead and no one needed the others), GMS became all about Pay2Win especially the cube and the item potential system which also made the game much more complicated rather than how we all loved it, simple and relaxing..
I'm not asking here for any of these mistakes, I'm asking about improving the content and polishing the gameplay a bit more.. I've also considered these aspects which made GMS dull. Old GMS also had many issues that everyone was aware of including Nexon. But instead of fixing these things, Nexon headed towards making more profit out of the game and just ignored what players needed at that time, and that was what killed GMS, these issues needed to be fixed.

GPQ is coming soon in next update.
    CWKPQ is coming in 56.
    MC is planned for 57.
Duey will be implemented in due time, especially if it'll also be of benefits to staff (to do refunds, etc while player is offline).
The other PQs will come in the future, after MC.
The others are also being considered as possible contents! So yes, we still have a long way to go in terms of contents.

Couldn't disagree more with this point, the entire economy is stimulated by HP Washing.

I feel like most of the complaints come from users who have a surface level understanding of HP Washing. Instead of attempting it, they are more inclined to have these accolades given to them. The success of this server is largely because you actually have to work for your goals, nobody wants to play a sandbox spawner, thats why we are all here.

This is why I love Royals.. This is why I keep coming back all the time.. Thank you..

Instead of working hard on such a boring thing, why not work hard with friends doing HP quests for example? It's gonna be so much more fun. Quests aren't easy to do, but it's still fun compared to such lame mechanism as HP washing.
Also, let me tell you something, have you ever wondered why Royals has 3.2x Exp rate instead of the usual Exp rate of GMS? It's because most of us used to play GMS as kids. At that time, we had nothing to worry about, not much of study, no need to have a job or think about problems in our lives. Now, however, we're older, we need to study hard, we need to work, to worry about problems and everything. We no longer have enough time to spend playing. Having such a lame and time taking mechanism kills the fun about Royals. Especially if you find this out after leveling to a high lvl. Life already needs enough effort, just don't make Royals hard too!

You don't need to wash. The only boss that can be argued for is toad, and it was designed to be warrior friendly. If you don't like washing, don't do it, just bring HB to bosses.

What Evan said above. Nothing is forcing you to wash your character you literally don't have to and you'll still be fine. Yet you can still benefit from the various economic opportunities that arise from it.

In regards to your post, washing has always been a thing, even back then. It just wasn't very well known and obviously very expensive. Most of us being in our early teens didn't really play the game that way, it was all just for fun. Many users now have already explored the entire game and would like to experience what end-game/bossing is like while min maxing to the best of our abilities.

HP washing is definitely not necessary but there's a reason why people do it and there are other better alternatives that can be added to the server.. This is what I'm trying to say.. Would
