You can survive as a mage as long as you dont touch zakum . Always keep Magic Guard on . Get all cures to remove seal .
Upgrading weapon should always come first. Cape, gloves, and overall are the next to add. ZHelms are cheap, 50 mil for a great boost so yes get that when you can. But don't buy low end gear, just save more while using clean or self made equips until you can buy high end items.

Red Slimes exist. Go to Mushroom Shrine --> Walk right until you get to Showa --> Talk to Hikari to enter the sauna/spa --> Enter portal on right --> In right side of the sauna map, press up, there is invisible portal.
