    Dear all,

    As we all know, it is fair to say that this class requires a some balancing in regards to skill changes and play style of chief bandits and shadower.

    The purpose of this thread is to collect information and feedback from the community and factor them into our decision making process. So, let us know what you think!

    All unrelated spams will be deleted to make this thread more manageable.

    Would an attack range based pickpocket or a smokescreen cd buff help? They always seemed like a pretty good class that was held back by skill bugs and skill books.

    My idea for this class: nerf mesos explosion damage, buff 4th job skills boomerang step and assassinate significantly and balancing the damage output until 4th job skills will always be better than a 3rd job skill no matter how fast you can throw mesos, as well as putting shadower all the way up the dps charts at a position similar to warriors

    pls nerf ME (such as increase dmg but add 5sec colddown?or unrelated to meso)

    make assaulter usefull and more like a Ulti skill, like other jobs(BUCC transform/pally/Sniper).
    atk 1 target 3times 1000%per hit and 5sec colddown .

    assassinate not usefull on higher BOSS run . when the sever lagging u need 1sec to use dark sight and 1 sec use assassinate .
    whats more assassinate cant get benefit from SE what a shame :'(. so this skill more like a solo skill when u run papu/HH/BF.i have no idea about this skill^_^'

    Btw,savage below is really a nice skill ,even when u run high lv BOSS .got a lot benefit from SE.
    so my advice about this skill is give some percent inrease ,lv30 dmg from80%to120%.:o

    boomrangestep do very well ,as a 4th job skill .

    finally if u can decrease smokescreen colddown to 5mins.shadower will be more acceptable by ppls.
    maybe corsair will be famous also :D.

    Is this thread actually making any impact? Will shadowers actually receive a buff? I just started this game as a shadower (my friends convinced me to make a shadower as they have high dps, however failed to mention that it's only cause of ME, which is impossible and not useful to use all the time because as a first time player i'll always be poor). My thoughts:

    -Remove the "charging" effect for assassinate and make it instant: What i mean is, I currently have a macro with boomerang + dark sight + assassinate. However, there's a problem. Assassinate is very high damage only if you let it charge AND if you wait for the LAST hit to proc and hit a crit. The problem with the last hit of assassinate is that it PUSHES you into the monster/boss, making this nearly impossible to take advantage of on high lvl bosses that 1 hit kill you. So, my thoughts would be: to remove the charging for assassinate so that using macros or using assassinate quickly allows you to get the FULL damage amount. Waiting in darksight and for assassinate to charge during bossing is literally useless. So, removing the charge means i can spam it and reap the benefits of the high damage when spamming/using skill macros; also making the 4th hit with crit so that you don't get pushed into the boss and don't have to risk dying just to get the 4th hit + possible crit.

    -Changing boomerang step so that there's no delay and it is spammable

    -An overall damage buff would be AMAZING in addition to the assassinate skill change mentioned above ^. Even when using a shield with high attack and a high attack dagger, you still won't have as high damage as another classes with just one weapon. This sucks!! having a shield and dagger should make you much stronger!!

    --I also don't see an ME nerf being useful. This is the only useful skill at lower levels pre shadower that can help you level faster. Then, with the buffs, at 4th job it wouldn't be needed anymore. Also, just the fact that it makes you spend so much money just for really high damage is already something that would deter most people from using it.


    As shadower players, we basically rely on meso explosion just to boss and it is very difficult to lvl up pre 4th job with the current skills, however with the 4th job buffs + damage buffs, the grind would be worthwhile! Especially if this is your main/only character, not being able to boss and make money just because you have to use money to actually do high damage is a huge let down. It's a really fun class with fun skill sets. Seeing these kind of buffs would be amazing.

    Buff SB, make pickpocket better and make ME work on only pick pocket dropped mesos at a higher strength than the current ME on pickpocket mesos. This removes the funding barrier (especially during third job) while keeping ME as a useful skill. Also prevents the drop abuse with a mouse wheel and the whole bombing invisible bags glitch.

    I don't think buffing SB would do much because by 4th job it's useless as it's only a 2nd job skill. Plus the range/hitbox on it is so bad. You literally have to be ON TOP of the monster/boss to use it

    The concept is to allow for DPS while the shadower would usually be dropping mesos. So instead of getting no DPS while dropping, they’re attacking and creating mesos to bomb. Hence why PP would need a buff alongside it and ME would need to be adjusted to accommodate the mesos dropped from PP.

    Getting ME as the main skill out the picture would be much more beneficial imo. Plus, you can already do that with bstep + ds + assassinate skill macro while dropping - that's what i do

    I disagree because ME being the main skill is what pre-BB shadowers are all about. I prefer making modifications to the already main skills over making modifications to other skills which render the current main skill(s) useless by providing better DPS with other skills.


    That still requires dropping which doesn’t nullify the financial burden or potential for glitch abuse. Buffing SB and PP would in theory make the DPS better than the current approach while removing the financial hardship and potential for glitch abuse (at least, that’s what my suggestion was intended to do).

    Well yes but being that it's a 3rd job skill why continue to make it the main dps skill...as 4th job your 4th job skills should be the best dps, other skills are optional. With ME still having high dmg if members of a party wanted to donate to have that high damage output then it's still an option but bossing in general without having to spend your own money is the best buff i.e buffing the 4th job skills. And this way shadowers aren't continued to only be used for ME, and this way we would actually be chosen for boss runs.

    Couldn’t the “it’s a third job skill so it shouldn’t be the best/main one” argument be applied to other classes who have a main attack from the third job as well though? Specifically, the DrK (Crusher) and MM (Strafe). I don’t feel that holds any weight in determining whether or not changes should be made.

    I agree with you about the financial hardship involved with ME, hence my suggestion to remove the dropping aspect and create the mesos via Pickpocket buff (or maybe-to your liking-a new fourth job skill that buffs pickpocket or meso explosion to cater to the amount PP drops). I guess that is where we don’t see eye-to-eye though (and that’s okay!). I prefer making changes to the current skill(s) as I find those to be nostalgic and what is true for a “pre-bb” design rather than making other skills better than them. Ultimately I believe most feel similarly to you and probably prefer having new main skill(s), but the idea of a shadower not bombing mesos on a pre-bb server just tickles me the wrong way. To each his own though!

    The focus of Shadower class rebalancing should definitely be on their 4th job skills, specifically Assassinate and BStep. The main issue with Shadowers is that there is currently no incentive for the player to invest any funding into the class due to the fact that the maximum dps could be dealt by a level 10 dagger with ME. Whether or not ME should be reworked is a whole other discussion, but at the very least there should be a more evident damage difference between a Lv200 Shad with perf Kanzir and a Lv80 CB dropping 5k bags.

    Some ideas for these buffs other than the obvious flat increase % damage would be:
    -Lowering the charge time required in dark sight for max Assassinate Damage
    -Increasing the base (uncharged) Asassinate % Damage while keeping its maximum damage the same
    -Decreasing the cast time of Assassinate and/or BStep

    Other possible interesting ideas:
    -Increased damage or possible crit rate while in smokescreen (Maybe even as a party buff to make Shadowers more desirable in boss parties)
    -Assaulter can temporarily apply a vulnerability debuff (currently stuns mobs) to bosses (similar to threaten) with a CD where damage is increased

    There is no purpose to nerf ME . As it stands , ME is mainly used as BS+Nate+Pickpocket just deals too low damage without proper funds . Even using ME takes alot out of a shadower as you are require to drop bags of meso at a fast rate , in dark sight (not able to pot) , all while getting knock down from the platform . ME is also outscaled by other classes easily .
    Instead , buff boomerang step , assassinate and pickpocket . Increase pickpocket scaling of meso to damage dealt . Increase damage % of both BS and Nate . To make it easier , make another method to get assassinate 30 as it is the only class attacking skill that needs to be obtain from GPQ drop , with a seriously low drop rate , making it super hard to access.

    I also think there is no need to nerf ME because it takes so much effort to drop. Increase the % damage of Bstep, Assassinate, Band of Thieves and Savage Blow is one of the things I would improve for shadowier in a way that is comparable to a warrior damage. And honestly once you have buffed these skills, I dont think shadower will even need to use mesos explosion as frequent in boss runs to maximize dps.

    I also want to emphasize the 4th hit of assassinate not proccing if you spam the skill as a macro, you have to let it proc by hitting the skill once. If you spam, the 4th hit (crit) won't cast. And, when it does, it pushes you into the mobs which is a huge game changer (in a bad way) especially as a melee character that isn't as tanky as warrior classes.

    i have tried putting darksight>assasinate>boomerang step to a macro and spamming the macro gives perfect results of darksight>(attacking 4 times with assasinate)>boomerang step (cancelling the 5th rush attack).
    This attack rotation gave me the idea that buffing assassinate and boomerang step has the potential to surpass mesos explosion, and meso explosion as a 3rd job skill can be complemented between this rotation to boost the damage a little higher, but with 4th job skills as the main dps skills instead of a 3rd job skill.
