It was fun, it really was, but looking back, it has been a waste of time.
Now that I'm nearly done with university, I ask myself: what have I achieved in the past three years in my spare time?

I became the third highest level person who stayed in the tutorial section of a private server of a 15 year old game.

So pathetic if you put it like that.

In the past three years I had so many ideas for projects, some of which I started, but none of which I finished.
Instead of playing maple, I could have finished those projects, I would have acquired new skills, made things that people care about. Instead I have a level 72 islander...

So yeah, it's time for me to go. I won't play any grinding games anymore.

    Cya everyone

It's fair if you think that way, but just be careful with that thinking, it's a deep rabbithole. At the end of the day your projects mean nothing either. Everything we do is meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

Best to just do what you enjoy doing, and don't feel like you wasted your time if you truly had fun. Nothing is pathetic as long as you enjoy doing it. :)

    I agree 100% with this.

If you enjoyed Royals, then it probably had a net positive effect on your life even though you might not realize it and have nothing to "show" for it.

Doing your own thing and being genuinely happy is a lot more important than having something to show to someone.

As far as fun hobbies go, Royals definitely isn't the most presentable or socially accepted or whatever compared to others things. So, I totally understand that feeling. If you decide you want to move on, best of luck to you!

I totally understand and identify with your reasoning for leaving. Its tough with video games. They are a super big time sink and nothing real materializes from them, in most cases. Good for you for identifying that in your life and being strong enough to let it go. May your real life goals come to fruition!

Also super true. Its sort of awkward, actually. Thanks for saying this.
